After seeing Buffalo manhandle Montreal last night, I think the Devils have some work to do on their forward lines if they want to compete with Buffalo.
EGG Line
Parise Zajac Lang
Pando Madden Clarkson
TBB Line (Tallackson, Byrlin and Bergfors)
Top two lines look great
Clarkson would fit well with the checking line and adds a spark
Having Tallackson, Brylin and Bergfors on our fourth line would be damn good!
These lines would provide a balanced attack while preserving the checking line!

I don't think we will see Bergfors up for a while and if we do it won't be on the fourth line. Besides, there doesn't seem to be any grit in that lineup. We should have a little bite on our fourth line. Rassmussen should definately stay in.

Where is Bergfors playing this year? I didn't see him on the Albany River Rats Roster on theahl.com..

We are no longer associated with the Albany River Rats. The Devils bought the Lowell Lock Monsters and renamed them the Lowell Devils. Bergfors is playing there.

EGG line reuniting is good
2nd line I think will find some nice chemistry with Parise and Zajac.
The third line..... I know some people might think good old Sarge can find a better spot, but man, I really like our checking line with Sarge in it. Madden and Pando and great at applying pressure and working hard, and Brylin adds that little bit of skill to make our checking line an actual scoring threat to chip in a few. Brylin's hard work ensures he fits into the checking line role, while his offensive help makes up a bit for Jay "Stonehands" Pandolfo and John "Hit the crest" Madden.
4th line.... our first two lines skate hard, move the puck, and try to score, our third line is very defensive while trying to chip a few in.... but none of those lines are overly physical... we need a physical 4th line that can chip in a few- though they really need to work on that "chip in a few" part. In Lou I trust and he wants a role-playing physical 4th line so let's do it.

Couldn't agree more about Sarge on the third line. He is playing some of the best hockey of his career (hustle, speed, great passing) and the whole line seems inspired with great chemstry all around. Wouldn't touch Pando - Mad Dog - Sarge (which I've nicknamed the PMS line... trying to make it stick...for the ladies.)
That leaves us:

Borrowing this link from GUTTERSNIPE on another thread... It looks like Jimmy Dowd is practicing with the team. So it seems we are close to having a real 4th line pivot -- if Dowd is anywhere near 100%.

Quote:
Travis Zajac, the rookie center who suffered a bruised left hip and thigh area when checked into the boards by Nashville's Shea Weber last Thursday night, said he is hopeful of returning when the Devils host the Florida Panthers Thursday night. Zajac wanted to practice with the team yesterday but was told to stay off the leg another day.
Defenseman Richard Matvichuk and center Jim Dowd participated in their first practice with the team since training camp opened and are moving closer to playing.
I, too, am a Clarkson fan, and think he and Rassmussen centered by Dowd would be the gritty, yet skilled 4th line we have been craving...one responsible enough to handle more than 3-6 minutes of ice-time. And could contribute some hard won goal scoring.
With Cam Janssen as the 13th forward, for those potentially punch-a-delic games on the schedule. (And ba-bye Rupp/LaCouture/Tallackson...back to Lowell.)
