Home Opener: Who's Going?

We're back baby! The last game I was at was Game 4 vs. Carolina, thinking it may have been the last time I would see Patty, JL, and Gomez together as Devils. Man, I am so syked for tomorrow, and thank Lou we have Lou. The only thing missing will be that Cro-Magnon man Domi. Would have liked to have seen Cammer drop the Hammer on that piece of crap.

See yous there!

I wish I was going. I'd rather go to that than my Quality Management class that night. I can't skip it because we're getting a take-home exam in class; and no, the professor won't give it on any other day.

Regardless, I want to see the Devils drop a train on the Leafs tomorrow. A TRAIN.

Wish I could go even though I'd be wearing a jersey with colours other than red.

I'm still a big fan of Martin and I've loved watching him develop over the last two years.

I was SERIOUSLY thinking of going to the game.......sort of.

Better be a packed house tomorrow. For all those in the tri-state area AND all of the east coast, I better see you on tv especially with tickets half price :banghead: .

CANES DOWN 0-4!

Where'd you hear about the half-price tickets?

I bought my tickets for the lower bowl at regular price.

There was a promotion for the 52 dollar seats for 26, but they sold out.

Anyways I'm jealous of all of you and I was thinking the same exact thing as you, Captain Lou, when I was at that game against Carolina.

I had doubts about Elias coming back mostly due to my pessimistic nature and a stupid superstition that Patty finally broke.

I think the crowd should chant Lou's name as the team steps on to the ice.:handclap: I mean c'mon, the guy practically saved the team.:teach:

Yes! Also to avoid confusion you should chant Lamoriello because I don't want anyone to think we're booing or in this case "louing" the team. ;)

does anyone know if theyre going to do any kind of special team introductions or anything? or maybe introducing patty as the new captain?

It doesn't seem like our style. I have to say it was getting annoying the first few nights watching every team announce their roster. I've been to plenty of opening nights and I don't remember us doing that. Unless it's mandated by the NHL in some way to cater to the fans the intro will probably be rather short. There will probably be a video, the one last year with NJ Devil doing odd jobs during the lockout was funny, and maybe Doc will say something.

I'd rather hear Doc say something than listen to the entire lineup.

Does anyone know Hale's status?

Defenceman David Hale, hit above the right eye with a deflected puck in practice 12 days ago, still has blurry vision and problems with depth perception. Now that the swelling has gone down, he will be examined by a doctor Friday.

Hopefully, we'll have a better year against the Leafs 'cause last season they just bullied us around.

You can bet that I will have a few choice words of praise to God in between beers. The Leafs have no chance tonight, I expect a sold-out amped-up rockin' crowd and the team will respond.

I will be there...235 row 1 seat 1. I will try and get the Lou chant going but my section is usually pretty tame. In the '99 playoffs someone behind me actually asked if I needed to lean forward in my seat the whole game. :help:

The Devils used to do introductions for opening nights, not sure if they will tonight. I hope they do, to get a chance to cheer every player and to really explode for Patty when he is announced as captain. I think the adrenaline rush he would get from the crowd screaming for him will make him fly all night.

LET'S GO DEVILS!!

Section 218 Top row. But you will see a group wandering along the top behind there as well. I cannot wait for tonight.

I assume the parking situation wil be a mess.

It's early, but these two points I guess are kind of important. Toronto has always given the Devils trouble in the regular season and with Philly and the Rangers coming up, it would be good to pick up the two points going into those games. Dam, wishing I was going to the game tonight, but stuck working late. Bad, bad week.

Man, this whole living in Virginia thing stinks.

I really wish I could be there, hopefully the crowd is especially loud for our new captain and for the guys like Gionta and Martin who were so loyal and waited out the summer without contracts.

If there is one thing we know for sure (if you've been a Devil fan for a long time)..is that the CAA will be nowhere near sold out. Just a fact of life as a Devil fan

Yup, and the Mets game tonight isn't going to make the situation any better either. I'm sure there's a decent amount of fans that may be going to the Mets game instead or would rather stay home and watch both games.

I have an extra 2-for-1 ticket, since my friend has to work. It would be $29, same price I paid after fees tacked on. Regular price is $52.

It's section 204, row 9, seat 10.

Only thing is, I like to be in the building for warmups, so we'd have to meet out in front before they start.

Post here, if you'd like it!

It's even worse for me in Calgary!...LOL....I haven't seen a live Devils game since the year before the lockout:cry: .....I do plan one day to come down east for a game, hopefully sometime in the very near future....Let's blow away those Leafs tonight!!!!

Owch, but at least you get hockey coverage being in Canada (though I get to see Ovechkin, which is some consolation).

Cheaper?

I met some Toronto fans on the bus to the game and they were stunned by our ticket prices. They don't have anything close to that. Cheapest are $40 and I think lowest bowl is closer to $200. They were amazed by our prices.
Of course they sell out every game.

Not to bust on our fans, cause I thought they/we were righteous last night.

Well that's pretty much street value for the Toronto tickets. There's some report that comes out every year that compares the total cost for a family to go to a game using average ticket prices, parking, concessions, and merchandise as factors.

I believe the last one I saw had NJ at #1 total with our ticket prices themselves only being about 14 cents cheaper than the #1 in ticket prices alone, Philadelphia.

Our average ticket price is twice as much than say Carolina's and we don't even sell out. I understand that our prices should be higher than the average given that we're in the NY metropolitan area but I still don't think that justifies the ticket prices.

I don't think the average ticket price will go down, but I believe the Newark arena will have more price levels. Hopefully since the Devils will get all the revenue from concessions, parking, and non-hockey events at the arena the ticket price inflation won't be so rapid. It may be cheaper if you usually sit in the back of a section and it may be more expensive if you sit in the front, but I think if you believe that the price of a seat in a brand new arena will be cheaper than the price of a seat in CAA you're kidding yourself.

The concessions thing is a huge one... The Devils don't get ANY of that food/beverage money at CAA, which costs a friggin fortune for the consumer, especially if one like to drink, say, BEER.

There have been several mentions in the media (sorry, no link) that when in Newark the team will own all revenue streams, everything including concessions, so, as a result, the ticket prices will come down like 10% across the board, with the last two rows in the upper corners being $10 seats, with other reduced price seats in the upper bowl. So students, families, etc., that couldn't previously afford to come to games can at least get in the building. And, I believe, the overall capacity is slightly smaller, so hopefully sell outs can become more of the norm (not something we get bashed for not doing more often...)

It will have 18,000 seats instead of the 19,040 that CAA has. One important thing is the number of Luxury boxes and premium type seats. If they can sell those then the cost of the average fan's seats can be reduced while still maintaining the same revenue.

I really hope we can get around 95% capacity each night, it'll be harder to get tickets but each time you go will feel more special. It's the logical next step in becoming a staple in the area.
