Ive been reading scouting reports on him and they all say he has amazing quickness with elite stickhandling ability, with a thick lower body and great balance. they say he is pesky and can irritate opposing players.

Now from what ive gathered form you guys he seems more of a 15-15 type player who is best suited for the checking line.

Im confused which is more accurate?

thanks

I've heard that he a Brylin type player with more offensive upside. And if that comes to fruition, you have a real nice player.

I just don't see a Brylin type player, he really could play an offensive role on the wing. They still have him at center which he is way to small and weak to play. 15 40 type player in the NHL IMO.

I've heard comparisons to Danny Briere, but I haven't seen him personally.

Who on earth thinks that?

I'd love to see him crack the lineup, but we're way too deep at center. Doesn't look like theres much room for him on any of the wings yet but we'll see.

Well one thing he has is time. There is no reason to rush him at all. We can afford to let him hibernate down in the AHL for a few more years, and hopefully when he's 23 or 24 he can come up and be ready to make an impact.

Yeah that's what I mean. Theres no spots for him yet but down the road there probably will be.

Briere is a great player, but I think Vrana reminds me more of J.P. Dumont.

Yes, his speed and puck skills remind me of Briere. But Briere is 1000 times stronger, has a better shot and goes to the tough areas on the ice.

Dumont is a lot bigger.

In my opinion...you are spot on.

Size, skating, faceoff ability, under rated offensive ability, leadership, defensive awareness....there are a lot of parallels.

If Vrana were on 20 other NHL teams he probably would have already been in the NHL...or at least get a few games this year....but you guys are loaded at center...and honestly Vrana, despite his size, would be better suited to being a center than a winger.

Thats debateable. Briere was built like a girl when he came out of junior. Briere worked hard to make it to the show, but his strength isnt one of his main qualities :)

It was debatable then but right now there is no question at all.

But you're comparing a 21 year old with a 27 year old...in terms of strength.

Back when Briere was 21...he was weak physically.

Briere is VERY strong. His personal trainer is a Canadian World's Strongest Man Champion. He used to be very weak, but now he is one of the physically strongest players on the Sabres. I see no reason Vrana can't become physically stronger.
