Munro Called Up to Admirals
GOALTENDER BECOMES FIRST GLADIATOR TO ADVANCE TO AHL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – NOVEMBER 19, 2003

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Adam Munro has been called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

“We are proud of Adam and this is a great opportunity for him,”
said Gladiators General Manager Steve Chapman. “He’s a good
solid goaltender who has the tools for success at the AHL level."

In six games this season, Munro has posted a 2.76 goals against average and a .894 save percentage and a 4-1-1 record.

A first round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2001 NHL
entry draft, Munro joins the Blackhawk’s AHL affiliate, Norfolk, after
attending the NHL’s Ottawa Senators and AHL’s Grand Rapids
Griffins training camps back in September.

He was one of the worst wasted first round picks in a long time. Originally slated as a 3rd or 4th rounder at the highest during the draft and the Hawks take him in the first round. :dunno:

I love how in Detroit, fans look at the Chelios trade and equate the picks to the players taken so it ends up being something like Chelios for Erickson, McCarthy and Munro. If you look at the trade like that... complete steal. Too bad for the hawks they didnt use that pick better. Its no use trading a player for picks if you waste the pick.

Smith wanted a goalie in the first round; LeClaire and Blackburn were taken, so he took his number 3 guy. :( Mel Kiper would be so disappointed....

Smith did not make that pick. In fact, when interviewed about him on the radio, Smith didnt even know what his first name was. Because we had 2 first round picks, Pullford worked out a deal that gave smith the first pick and Dumas the second pick. Smith picked Tuomo Ruutu. Dumas picked Adam Munro.

Bad mistake on Pullford's part...
