I'm not sure how this will effect the Ducks Coverage but I though this was worth mentioning coming from the paper that has jumped the NHL bandwagon for the Dodgers bandwagon.

The Register's announcement comes as newspapers across the country are cutting costs. Buyouts were offered last year at the Los Angeles Times, where in recent weeks the editor and publisher have gone on record opposing further cuts.

Sounds like a newspaper trying to justify its own actions.

At least the Register still sends it's hockey beat writer on the road.

That's what I'm wondering. Will this effect the ducks beat writer(s) at all? Burke's got a hard enough time trying to get the team noticed in the local media. The last thing he needs is for the OC Register to pull up their tents and move across the street to cover the Angels or something like that.

Sounds like a newspaper trying to justify its own actions. This is happening all across the country due to readership declines. It's not like they are doing it to keep up with the LA Times. They could show you red ink to justify their actions I'm sure.

Oh no, you misunderstood. I am just saying the LA Times is quick to report what the OC Register is doing in order to justify its own cuts. However, I don't think they ever reported to its readers their own cuts and cutbacks. Kinda hypocritical IMO.
