Hey WHL fans...

A few requests for updated scouting reports on how a few Western defensive prospects are looking. Specifically...

Josh Gorges

Dustin Byfuglien

Zach Fitzgerald

I know what the scouting reports were BEFORE this season, so just looking for updated insights on their performance and long-term potential.

since he's my favourite player on the T-Birds' team...I'm biased...I'll just preface my "critique" with that

and, FYI, his name is spelled with a "k" not an "h"...and, yes, I know, even Central Scouting couldn't make up their minds

anyway...he's physical...a great fighter...but he's also a good skater and shooter
he's been working on his discipline...less fighting...more playing...the last half of the season last year, he looked great

he's been labeled a bit of a goon and is working on getting rid of that rep...he's a very, very quick learner

right now, however, he does need to improve on his maturity and disciplinary level

he's a stay at home defenseman, and, unfortunately, to really get recognized, defensemen have to play offense, so he probably needs to work on taking more shots and hitting the back of the net when he does

good, crisp passing however...I've seen him walk away from fights this year, which is good to see, even IF I like to watch him fight....lol

he's a big guy, 6'2" around 210....looked good at the Blues' training camp...but was obviously a first year guy there...obviously young and out of his league
give him his 2 more years in the WHL...another couple in the AHL and I can see him on the first or second line for the Blues

if you compare where he was last year at this time with where he is now....it's apples and oranges...as I said, he's a very fast learner...and he definitely has focus and heart...I think he'll be a name to look for and remember in years to come
