Is he going to make the club's top 6? I have a man-crush on this guy. He would really help add some toughness to the lineup....

Ducksforcup 09-27-2006, 09:57 PM There is a good chance that he can nag the 7th defensemen spot. His only competitor is St. Jacques, who could potentially nag the spot based on the waiver issue alone. O'Brien can be sent down without going through waivers, while Bruno can't. He has played well though. :) McDonald19 09-27-2006, 10:00 PM O'Brien can be sent down without going through waivers, while Bruno can't. are you sure about that? O'Brien is in his fourth pro season and should not be exempt from waivers. Ducksforcup 09-27-2006, 10:00 PM Well, to be honest, I'm not completley sure. :dunno: TeMoZ 09-27-2006, 10:04 PM how do you have a man crush on him when you cant spell his name right:dunno: wildcat48 09-27-2006, 11:12 PM are you sure about that? O'Brien is in his fourth pro season and should not be exempt from waivers. He has yet to play an NHL game, so according to section 13.4 of the CBA...O'Brien would exempt from waivers until he's played in so many NHL games or turns 25. I doubt Burke would keep St. Jacques over O'Brien because of the waiver issues though. lux_interior 09-28-2006, 01:54 AM how do you have a man crush on him when you cant spell his name right:dunno: Maybe the original poster is referring to the O'Brian from Seinfeld. You know, the anti-semite. captaincheat 09-28-2006, 02:38 PM how do you have a man crush on him when you cant spell his name right:dunno: I just do that to hide my true feelings:dunce: Jerky Leclerc 09-28-2006, 02:41 PM The Ducks are probably holding St. Jacques and Shawn Thornton to the last day so they can pass through waivers. I'm sure teams will have their 23 man roster set and can't add anyone else. I'm sure teams will have their 23 man roster set and can't add anyone else. I'll bet some of those bottom-feeders will be perusing the waiver wire awfully closely. St. Jacques might be an improvement over some of the 6th and 7th d-men on some of the weaker teams. KILLger 09-28-2006, 11:29 PM Because he hasn't had to pass through waivers yet. He had to, last year. sammyp 09-29-2006, 02:31 AM He had to, last year. That was about one year ago. I guess I should've added a "this year" to the end of my statement to clarify. Kick Save 09-29-2006, 02:32 PM then why hasn't Bruno been claimed then eh KS:sarcasm: 76over39 just answered that for me. Your sarcasm notwithstanding, why don't you tell me why St. Jacques is still with the Ducks. If your answer is that he's shown enough talent to warrant being here, then isn't it obvious that there's a good chance that he wouldn't clear the waiver wire? Several sources have the Ducks as the favorite to win the Cup. How many serious Cup contenders still have guys on their roster (who would have to clear waivers) that are not of interest to at least some of the less-talent-laden teams? | ||
