Does anyone see any rookie defencemen making the team this year? Huskin, Brien or O'Brien perhaps?

O'Brien is most likely going to make it, Skinner's not far behind either.

There is one d-man spot available.

Niedermayer-Beauchemin
Pronger-O'Donnell
DiPenta-?
Moran

as of right now O'Brien probably makes the team, though Skinner still has a good shot at it. St. Jacques is a wild card because of his experience. Huskins is a long shot. Rome's stock has dropped considerably. Mikkelson will be back in the WHL.

I have to agree. If OB keeps having games where he scores points and has no minors than it's his spot to lose. How much ice he or whomever does get that spot will get once the season starts is a whole other question but I think it's safe to say OB is in the drivers seat at this point.

I think it's between OB, Skinner and St.Jacques. I don't personally believe it's anyone's job to lose, and it's really a three-way coin flip(now wouldn't that be amazing to see) for it, with maybe a slight edge to OB. I'm sure two could make it, but it makes alot more sense to have Moran as the 7th guy, with his leadership and all.

Skinner went to Portland...and dont count out Moran because of salary cap issues, especially if Shannon makes it.

Just change the verb tense... ;)

Skinner has gone to Portland.

My vote goes to OB.

Is there anyway that DiPenta might be bummed due to the better play of the rookies?

bummed? Only if he gets bumped...:D

But really, not yet. Dipenta showed he could be reliable throughout the playoffs, and the rookies have yet to show they can be reliable in October.

Yep, for the moment Joey is here to stay. He is an excellent bottom pairing defensemen.

I am frankly surprised that Skinner was sent down before other potential canidates.

DiPenta will be with the team all season, but he may be healthy scratched sometimes.
