Time: 7:05 P.M.

Preview:The Ducks, 1-1 in their opening two exhibition games, face the Vancouver Canucks tonight at Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. The weekend itinerary calls for games Saturday against the San Jose Sharks in Fresno and Sunday at Vancouver before the Ducks play Monday against the Kings at Staples Center.
Mostly veteran players are scheduled to be in action tonight and Monday. That group includes goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, defensemen Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger, right wing Teemu Selanne and centers Andy McDonald, Todd Marchant and Samuel Pahlsson.
"We felt it was counterproductive to bring some of our veterans into that 'B' group," Carlyle said. "Their seniority and their stature give them the respect from coaches and management that we feel they deserve."
Lines according to Aeryn. Thanks

However, I don't know if there is internet radio yet. Let me check the Canucks side. I think they might have something.

I think you are confusing Team 1040 (Vancouver) for the Mighty 1090 which was Anaheim's radio last season.
Ducksforcup 09-22-2006, 06:58 PM Sweet! You incorporated my where/what theme Jerky! :) Nice job with the GDT! :yo: :)

Yah, not a good period as far as excitement goes. After the first 5 minutes, it took a dive. The PP really sounded encouraging though and the Ducks basically dominated. :)

Perhaps the mindset of a guy changes in training camp when he feels safe, there isn't that need to go out and prove yourself..not that, that is a good thing but you don't see any of the vets going full steam ahead. Perry is probably likely always going to have those brain farts where he overpasses or over dekes occassionally and that sticks in your head easier than say doing great on the cycle or getting into good positions on the ice.
Static 09-23-2006, 12:10 AM Man this game has sucked.
Randall Graves* 09-23-2006, 12:15 AM that a boy Bruno, don't let this scrub McGuyver nail our skill players.

lux_interior 09-23-2006, 02:06 AM C'mon regular season. Let's go.
Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 09-23-2006, 02:24 AM Damn, I think Skinner's got a real good chance to make this team. He was very impressive in the rookie tourney, and even though all guys impressive there don't always do well with the big club(like Glencross that year he dominated in the tourney), looks like Skinner was pretty solid out there. I wouldn't mind him as our 6th defenseman at all.
And if this game told me anything, it tells me how the Kunitz-McDonald-Selanne line was indeed a fluke from last year. ;) Seriously, it seems every sports forcaster projected huge drops for them(Selanne not scoring more than 75 points, and he was the best of the three), and while it's only the preseason, they sure look pretty *** solid thus far. I hope Selanne can once again prove all the critics wrong(this time about age), and McDonald and Kunitz surprise everybody again, this time with great follow-up seasons.

Thanks for the report. :) I too got the impression that Skinner played a really solid game. :)
And of-course, a great game for the top line.
Pretty much everyone had a good game! :)
silver_made* 09-23-2006, 04:14 AM how did giguere play?
how did giguere play?
You didn't just ask that... jk.
He played the three periods and had 22 saves.
I am so glad to see the Ducks doing well even if its pre-season, this season should be very interesting.
TheJoeMan 09-23-2006, 05:33 AM how did giguere play?
Solid. Didn't get tested until the third when the ref got whistle happy and was sharp when he finally saw some shots. Vancouver couldn't hit the freaking net though but Jigs looked real good tonight. Had a little scare in the first when he took one to the face and knocked his mask off but JS is tough.
As for the rest them. Man, I don't want to get too ahead of myself but this team is amazing. Our PP is going to be lethal this season with those two guys anchoring it. The PK was tested, often, and totally rose to the challenge. Marchant had a strong defensive game as did Sammy. Getzy and Perry were awesome tonight as were the top line. Cheesy was kind of invisible tonight, not contributing very much but through his body around and got his nose dirty.
But the player that stood out for me tonight was Skinner. Out of the bubble players, he moves the puck the best and makes great decisions with it too. Very poised and showed a lot talent. Perry's goal happened because of the pinch he made on the play. I would have no problem seeing him on the opening night roster, no problem at all.
Oh and Luongo was the only player on the Nucks worth a damn tonight. If not for some brilliant saves this game would have been a stinker in the first 8 mins of the game. With Ohlund and Mitchell in the lineup, he could steal a bunch of games for Vancouver.
This was a boring game for a lot of people, but I enjoyed every second of it. I just love when the Ducks beat the Canucks (LA ranks pretty high on the list too), is like a momentary Christmas day.
Spiral 09-23-2006, 12:19 PM The highlights now up on Ducks TV.

I think your way off honestly. I think Skinner has zero chance for that spot, and O'brien and Bruno are battling it out for that one.
Man, I don't want to get too ahead of myself but this team is amazing. Our PP is going to be lethal this season with those two guys anchoring it.
Yeah our lethal power play that went 3/21 last night. That is incredably unacceptable. They blew multiple 5-3s last night and just were not able to convert. I hope they move Chistov out of the screen position and put Penner in, that would help the main unit out a lot. I think Carlyle is gonna be running more PP drills at camp now.

If you're really a Ducks fan, you must be a pessimistic one.
TheJoeMan 09-23-2006, 01:38 PM I think your way off honestly. I think Skinner has zero chance for that spot, and O'brien and Bruno are battling it out for that one.
Did you watch the game? I'm talking about how it executed and how well Scotty and Prongs kept the puck in and kept the thing moving. If not for Luongo early in the game it could have ended up being like 5 PP goals. I don't care how many chances you get but 3 PP goals in one goal is a lot.
Oh and Skinner has just as much chance of making the team if he keeps playing the way he's playing. It'd be ridiculous to send him down if shows he's the best out of the remaining d-men. We still have two weeks to find out but he definitely has better than zero chance.
Ducksforcup 09-23-2006, 01:44 PM This was a boring game for a lot of people, but I enjoyed every second of it. I just love when the Ducks beat the Canucks (LA ranks pretty high on the list too), is like a momentary Christmas day.
Didn't we beat Vancouver in every single game last season? You must have been one happy camper. :) So, what is the reaction to last night's loss in Vancouver? :)
Thanks for the reports everyone! :) Very informative. :) All positives. :)

In the pre-season it's not just about scoring goals on the PP, it's the fluidity of it as well as the possession time in the zone.
Spankatola Jamnuts 09-23-2006, 02:43 PM Yeah. The power play sounds like it's in pretty good shape.

Vancouver actually won one game against Anaheim @ Anaheim last season. It was 2-1 Vancouver. The winning goal was scored by Linden in his first carreer penalty shot. It was also the game where Rob Niedermayer accidentaly collided with Cloutier and injured him for most of the season.
