I wonder why our scouts were there:dunno:. According to the report, we're wanting to trim 2 million in pay roll. With the plethera of centers we have, maybe Marchant is going back to Columbus?:dunno:

Hmm, Marchant is definetley a canidate, though I think it would be a mistake to trade him.
...Maybe Burke wants to acquire more draft picks as well. :dunno:
I don't wanna see anyone go.

I don't think Buffalo has much cap space... so it'd have to be Columbus then huh?

Our GM was asked about this on the radio today and said that the scouts were there, but they were not there to talk to him. I wouldn't read too much into this...

I wouldn't want to trade Marchant. The guy is becoming a pretty solid player for this team.

There are always scouts at games.....When I'm in Portland, there are sometimes as many as 15 scouts from various NHL clubs and even when I was in Boston for the Ducks game last year there were a number of scouts so I just think it's part of the job.
I wouldn't read too much into it yet.
Well, all the teams are going to have new guys trying out or making the team this year, so I guess it's a good idea to see what they do during games. I guess it's just scouting the opposition.

There also may be "waiver draft" issues: if there is someone on the Ducks who has decent talent, but (1) likely won't make the squad and (2) would have to pass through waivers, the Ducks could be looking at making a deal and at least salvaging some value. Conversely, the Ducks may be interested in plucking someone off the waiver wire. Don't forget, Beauchemin found himself on the waiver wire last year. (I'm pretty sure that's how Columbus acquired him from Montreal.)
I tend to discount the idea of Marchant returning to Columbus. First, I don't think Columbus is all that excited about the prospect. Second, he's a very nice fit here in Anaheim (and his salary is starting to look more reasonable every day).
Dispite the fact there's no real waiver draft anymore.

i certainly hope not cuz the Marchy, Penner, and Shannon line are just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

correct the waiver draft no longer exists.
but waivers do exist...we all remember what happened with Kunitz at the beginning of last season.
