silver_made* 09-16-2006, 02:45 AM Still saddened by the abandonment of the wild-wing logo, once the most unique logo among the four major U.S. pro sports, and the adoption of the tiniest scripted logo in the history of pro sports. Unless Disney was insistant that the Samueli's not use the old logo in any such way, I can't understand how the current ownership wouldn't try to salvage the masked duck in some way (outside of its mascot) when considering the new logo.
You can't even read the word 'Anaheim,' and the 'D's webbing is hardly noticeable for eff's sake! Whether it be a large webbed duck foot (sort of a slant on the shoulder patch colorado uses) or a fierce/graceful looking duck (not cartoonish, perhaps along the line of what pittsburgh tried in the mid to late 90's), you need a picture for your eblem, dammit!
I guess their design team figured the 'baseball uniform' 3rd jersey all-script logo was so popular that they'd carry that into the new uniform...full time. Wrong! As a third jersey, it's palatable, but not on an every-game basis. Right now, based on only their crest/emblem (and not the color scheme), Anaheim has the worst uniform going into '06-'07. I'd put them ahead of Columbus, but Columbus' 3rd pushes Anaheim back to the bottom.
Teams with non-picture jersey emblems:
Philadelphia/Calgary/New jersey/Colorado/Vancouver: They chose only 1 letter, not the whole word, and that initial has become a recognizeable image on its own
Columbus: Letters and words all over the place! Exactly why their third jersey (void of any text and merely a single initial) is infinitely more popular
Boston/Montreal/New York (R): original 6'ers carry an obvious exemption
Dallas: Team name is iup top, but the large star appropriately drowns out the text
Edmonton: Logo with team name is large enough to show the 'oil-seeping' effect; very clever and also provides a distraction from the text

Ducksforcup 09-16-2006, 04:03 AM I agree to disagree. I think the uniform looks awesome on and off the ice and I also think that it actually looks better than our old uniforms.
All in my opinion of-course. :)

I think the uniform looks good, though the logo does look kind of out of place next to other NHL logos. I wish we had kept the old 3rd jersey though :(.
I wonder what the new 3rd jersey will look like...

I agree, the new uniforms look awesome in person! I came to like them even more after seeing them on ice during the Rookie Tournament.

snarktacular 09-16-2006, 01:26 PM I'm sort of indifferent to the uniform, I have a soft spot for the old ones even if they were kind of ugly. However, I do agree that we need a real, square logo for certain purposes. Such as little team logos on a draft board or something, or for pages like the "team" page in nhl.com http://www.nhl.com/teams/index.html . Basically it has to look good small, and as a shape that's as high as it is wide.
ktulu98 09-16-2006, 02:01 PM I dont need "real" logo, coz I love this uniforms, they are simple=great..
Duckstudd269 09-16-2006, 02:08 PM I love the uniform colors, and they look great on the ice. The logo is nothin special, and could be improved, but to me what matters most, is how the uniform looks on the ice, and it looks great.
Elvstrand 09-16-2006, 02:17 PM I think we should have stayed with the Mighty Ducks jerseys as the home-away jerseys. And then created a new third jersey, like the new one. Just in other colors.
At least ours looks better than Buffalo's

That is a great picture...where did you get it? That would make a great wallpaper

Ticketmaster sent that picture to us in an e-mail. :)

I saw it yesterday on anaheimducks.com and already made it my wallpaper. Very cool picture.
Hello?
Worst in the league?
Have you seen Buffalos slug?
Though I agree, I think its a pretty sad logo and does come close to how bad Buffalos has become

Because the Logo made the team look silly. I went to game five of the Western Conference Final and one thing I noticed was a lack of home or away jerseys being worn by the fans. I'd say about 95% of the Anaheim fans that had jerseys on were wearing the third jersey. If that doesn't speak volumes on the need for a new logo, I don't know what does.
I think the Ducks new logo looks horrible on the practice jersys. I saw a few pictures from camp and it just doesn't take up enough space, the jersey looks so empty.
Sevat 09-16-2006, 11:33 PM Wow! This must be the first time someone has said they don't like the new jerseys! What an amazing, and moving thought.
Can we PLEASE get over it? It's the jersey of OUR team, like it or not. What are we, a bunch of girls that want our boys to look pretty and nice while playing? Who cares, they can wear Speedos for all I care, as long as they win. They're my team, crappy logo or not.
Get over it.

uhhh, it's a practice jersey........
At first I wasn't to fond of them but they have been growing on me ever since I saw Mitera wear it at the draft. I can't wait until I receive mine from nhl.com to see how it looks in person.

The gripe is perfectly legitimate. If the uniforms are no big deal, as you put it, then why change the uniform to begin with?

To answer your question, the Samuelis wanted a break from the Disney connection. A change in unis was needed. The only thing the Ducks kept from Disney is Wild Wing and that damn bronze statue (look at Capt Bright Side's avatar). Otherwise, its been a good transition.

Exactly. Thank you.
BraveSirRobin 09-17-2006, 04:02 PM I just really wish we'd have chosen a different color other than black as our main home color. Other than that, the jerseys are okay. As for the logo, I'm still not crazy about it, but it could be worse. (see Buffalo's new logo.)
Keetz 09-17-2006, 10:06 PM I could be the oldest one here. As old school as they come. with that said the Original Ducks deal was fun at first, then kind of embarrassing and Buffalo going back to the original colors with a BETTER buff head is a good move. I like it.

Just saying. There's a whole bunch of people like me interested in logos and unis and such. Look up Chris Creamer's Sports Logos website, it's pretty fascinating and has good discussion if it interests you.

It was the practice jersey...
LA Blue 09-19-2006, 01:44 AM The back of your jerseys look a hell of a lot like a Penguins jersey.

It does, and it adds more classiness to their uniforms LA Brown.
deano 09-19-2006, 08:24 PM The "D" looks like a spork. You know, the spoon/fork combo you'd find at a cheap eating establishment. As for the worst uni's in the league, well Buffalo wins that hands down.
