Tbg1515 11-17-2003, 01:23 PM What would it take to aquire these guys in a deal........
Maybe
NJ Gets: Gonchar, & Bondra
WSH Gets: Gomez, Berglund, Suglobov, & Brylin/Marshall
Im just suggesting so lets here what you would give up for them.

Washington will never trade Gonchar if they don't acquire at least one reliable defensman so there is no need to analyse your idea more than that. :teach: ;)
NJDraft 11-17-2003, 01:38 PM I love to get Gonchar but the Caps have the worst goals against in the Conference. They don't need F's.
I think it would take a starting D and 2 prospects to get him.
MattNJD 11-17-2003, 04:36 PM The only way to pry Gonchar from the Caps is to overpay BIG TIME! I'm talking a package like Elias, Hale, Bicek, 1st rounder for him. He's not going anywhere, Washington managment has said as much. Bondra on the other hand I think can be had for a pretty reduced price. I personally think Bondra would be a god send to this team. Not sure who we would have to give up, but imo its worth looking into
NJ_Devil_Boy 11-17-2003, 04:42 PM NJ could never afford the salary unfortunately.
Niedermayer21 11-17-2003, 08:06 PM If we could get the Caps to eat some of Bondra's salary, we have the players to get him. Maybe something like Gionta, a prospect, and a pick.
No way we can get Gonchar. It would take Niedermayer and I am not giving him up, even though he may not be here next season. I think the Canucks will make a big pitch to bring Nieder home to B.C. I don't know if we can match an offer from a team like the Canucks or God forbid, the Rangers. The Stars will also go after him, as will Detroit.
The only thing I am sure of is that he ain't going to Boston! ;)
GentlemanOfLeisure 11-18-2003, 10:32 AM The only two guys off the caps roster I would like the Devils to get are Brendan Witt, or Boyd Gordon. The rest like Bondra and Gonchar, or Lang don't fit this system.
David Hale and Jiri Bicek for Brendan Witt
Tao Jones 11-18-2003, 01:27 PM White for Witt.

Nidermayer will not yet be 31 at the July deadline for Unrestricted Free Agency, which means the Devils will dodge a bullet. IMO, Lou will lock him up long term before he ever hits UFA, $7-8 million per year.

Niedermayer should get the Daneyko, Stevens, and Brodeur treatment. I remember Scott Oak (from CBC) saying a quote like "I have my run ins with Lou, but I'd rather be playing in June than not" or something like that during the playoffs last year. I immediately thought of Niedermayer. Let's face it, this franchise would be in a bit of trouble if Niedermayer left in FA. No one can replace a top 3 two-way d-man in the NHL and leaving in FA means no compensation (player wise).
SIGN HIM LOU!! :teach:
