SATAN TO CONSIDER A TRADE?

ESPN.COM: Jim Kelley reports a sources claiming Buffalo Sabres forward Miroslav Satan is upset over a "public rebuke" of his play this season by head coach Lindy Ruff and is "toying" with the idea of demanding a trade.

Spector's Note: Kelley's right about one thing, and that's the fact Satan hasn't played well this season after signing a two-year deal with the Sabres. Whether or not there's any truth to his mulling over a trade demand remains to be seen.

Oh no not more Satan rumors.

I wonder how often Satan's name would be brought up in Devils trade rumor talk if his name was spell Shytaan. If you want to look at it another way, how about if the Devils changed the team name to the New Jersey Basket of Puppies.

I'm at the point where I would trade any prospect/s other than Parise, Hale and Martin for Satan.

End the rumors Lou. Make the deal and let me buy my jersey.

I read that Jay McKee is also really torqued off over being benched for two straight games. He had some comments today in the press insinuating he might have to run some Senator players tonight and that its the maddest he's ever been in his career. Could be some interesting fireworks against Ottawa.

How bout a deal like this

NJ Gets: Mckee, & Satan
BUF Gets: Giroux, Brown, Suglobov, & Brylin

Or something similar

How bout we take Brylin out of that proposal and replace him with Bicek since we're hosing them anyway?

I'm not a fan of trading Brylin, and it'll take more than two spare parts and a prospect to land Satan...

As much as I love Satan, I don't see us matching up for a trade, player-wise, unless Gomez is involved... and I don't see the point in that.

Sabers may actually get that #8 playoff spot over the rag$ . They aren't going to give up on their leading scorer. He's making a lot of money now,and there's going to be some pressure on him. We'll see if he's the real deal if he produces under these condidtions.

Depends on the package, but Buffalo wouldn't want Gomez sinse they have Drury. They'd want a bonifided 1st liner for Satan (Elias) and I'm not sure the Devils could afford that.

No reason to rehash 2/7ths of our defense since we seem to be doing alright. White is comparable to McKee, Tallinder is probably better right now than Hale, but both are young.

Basically comes down to Satan for Rupp and Tallackson. Don't think the Sabres would be doing that.

I don't think we have anything the Sabres would want for Satan right now. I could see something like Jeff O'Neill for Satan if both teams felt like they needed some new blood.

Wonderful. We give up a proven 40 goal scorer, our best defenseman and a good defenseman for a decent defenseman, decent forward, and 2 prospects.

Put the bong down, kid.

PLease don't be lame with insults. You made your points and i'll respect them. now ill counter. scoring forty goals once is hardly proven. satan is a proven 60+ point guy. thats for sure. he's also a proven streaky player. and does any other team in the league scratch their "best defensemen"? as much as he drives me nuts, Zhitnik is the sabres best defensemen by far. White is a physical right sided d man. and Rupp is a young power forward with size, skills, and grit. both are exactly what buffalo needs. Hale puts a much needed defensive porspect in the system. all while heavily reducing salary to bring in more help when the time comes. do i think value wise it favors nj heavily. absolutely. buts its not moronic by any stretch of the imagination.
Ill revis somewhat
Satan, Mckee, Campbell

If a guy publicly demands or asks for a trade, the return he commands will lower. That is simple economics.

To BUF: Colin White, Paul Martin, Jason Ryznar, 4th

To NJ: Miroslav Satan, Jay McKee

I like it, but we'll have to wait until Jay McKee's knee is back in game shape. He's supposed to be out for like 4-6 weeks after last nights injury.

Than Regier won't trade him. He couldn't care less. You're not going to get our best player and what some people feel is our best defenseman for role players and unproven prospects. Sorry. Look at what Regier got for Grosek. It was Doug Gilmour, and J.P. Dumont. Grosek was crap at the time, still is. Gilmour was a star, and Dumont was a #2 overall draft pick 3 years before. If Regier can take one of Chicago's best players and thier best prospect for Grosek, than I can't see him giving up 2 players worth 10x more in value for the crap you guys have offered.

How about:

To NJ:

Miroslav Satan, Jay McKee

To Buff:

Jeff Friesen, Colin White

or

Jamie Langenbrunner, Colin White, 3rd

So what you're really saying is:

McKee = White

and

Satan (constant 60-70 point player on a team which can't score goals)

=

Martin (11 career NHL games, 1 point)
Ryznar (yet to even play an NHL game)
4th (a pick which will probably amount to noone)

Sorry, NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Fair proposals but don't rip into a poster just because you don't like the their proposal. Its pretty clear Langenbrunner isn't going anywhere. He will be a Devil for a long time. Friesen I can see being moved before Langenbrunner.

Ok. Darcy Regier is not a stupid GM. He does care and he will deal a player that he knows will bring back some assets that will help the Sabres. Saying that he couldn't care less is ignorance. He does care. The Grosek situation and Satan situations are a bit different. Satan has talent and value. Grosek doesn't.

Gilmour was a star? By the time Gilmour left Toronto, his effectiveness had all but worn off. Even with Montreal, he was virtually invisible. Other than his leadership, Gilmour was average. Don't even talk about Dumont. Mike Smith is the king of stupid deals and Dumont is a decent forward and has reached 20 goals only twice in his young career. I think that the hockey world knows that he's a skilled player but isn't really anything special.

The Devils win with the crap that we're "offering". I'd think twice about putting your nose up at the players listed thus far. If you're going to judge guys like Martin based on his 1 point in 11 games, you've got a lot to think about. I'm sure if Lamoriello offered up a guy like Madden for Dumont, you'd probably turn it down because Dumont has or may put up flashier numbers.

Understand what it takes to win in this league and then trash proposals with a straight face.
