What moves did you guys make this summer?

I'm just curious what moves you guys made to your roster, who's new and who's gone. I go to college in central jersey so I get Rangers and Devils games so of course I watch them with Rangers and Devils fans, even though I'm a Flyers fan. The 3 teams I follow the most are the Flyers, Devils, and Rangers, and I just wanted to keep up with your roster as I've barely payed attention to your roster this summer. If anyone has any questions about the Flyers feel free to PM me and I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Thanks in advance.

The only addition thus far is the return of center Mike Rupp. Defenseman Ken Klee has signed with Colorado. More players will be traded to clear cap space. The Devils also have to sign restricted free-agents Brian Gionta, Paul Martin and David Hale. The team also needs to sign a backup goaltender, which could very well be Scott Clemmensen. Lou Lamoriello has also said that he would like to re-sign unrestricted free-agent C/LW Erik Rasmussen.

The biggest thing for the Devils this summer was re-signing UFA's forwards Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner.

Hey bud, good luck at Rutgers. I played with their ice hockey team befroe I went to my school. Like David Puddy said, the biggest move of the off season was keeping Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner. We have also kept Scott Gomez to a one year contract. We have not retained the services of Viktor Kozlov, Darren Langdon, or Krizstof Oliwa. The Devils still need to sign Paul Martin, David Hale, Brian Gionta, as well as making a decision on Erik Rasmussen, Tommy Albelin, and Scott Clemmenson

Any reason you guys are taking so long? It seems like the Flyers have been making tons of moves. Holding out?

Also I really like Viktor Kozlov, that sucks that you're not keeping him...I really like both Kozlov's actually(look at my "title.") I wonder where he'll go.

BTW thanks for the well wishes at RU. I'm 3rd year engineer, so I know how bad it could be :-P

Well, with the whole Malakhov/Mogilny situation, everything depends on how they do in camp. Mogilny will either be unfit and placed on long term IR, or will compete for a roster spot. Malakhov has been invited to camp, but it's not clear yet if he will show. If he doesn't he will probably file retirement papers. If he has an impressive training camp, someone might take him as a 4-6 defenseman.

But of course it's possible niether of them are moved, and Lou gets under the cap another way. In that case, he will probably move a few cheap players (Marshall, Brylin, Lukowich, etc.). Or he could move one core player, (Gomez or Rafalski are most likely), but that situation will not happen unless absolutely nessecary.

IMO, the best changes the devs made was the house cleaning on the farm team. We've always had an abundance of fw's, but the "d" will be new altogether except for McGillis who will be there too. Also, from what I understand, Ftorek will be replaced with a new coach. This is no guarentee the farm team will be better, but the people coming in have experience in Europe & nhl.
Lou also fired radio/tv announcers for some reason. We may see some new faces in nj too. We wanted Patrik to stay, & got it. We're proud of all of our homegrown talent.

I bet you wish we kept Kozlov. The guy was guaranteed to show up 1 night out of 10. $2.2 million for that would make any Flyer fan pleased to know he was a Devil. Seriously though, I was a HUGE proponent for Kozlov last year at this time and thought we should get rid of Friesen since both had the same cap hit. Man, was I wrong. As bad as Friesen played last year, at least he would give his all before he was injured. Kozlov is a great talent with little desire to use it. I would be ecstatic if the Flyers bought his services for the next couple of seasons.

Lou's taking his time wondering what moves he could make; he doesn't just need to get cap room to sign Gionta, Martin, and Hale, he needs to do so without severly weakening the Devils. He's got the time, no need to rush.

Viktor Kozlov can go to any team in the NHL not named the Devils for all I (and we as Devils fans) care.

Hey, I'm still at RU doing engineering as a grad. student (continuing after 4 years there)! What major of engineering are you doing?

Yeah actually now that you mention it, I went to 2 Devils vs. Flyers games at Continnental(BTW, BEAUTIFUL ARENA. Not a bad seat in the house. Hopefully the one in Newark will be just as nice.) and Kozlov was injured. We don't need him though. We got Kyle Calder from the Blackhawks for Handzus and so we're fine on wingers, and with Knuble and Carter(I hope he plays RW) we'll be fine. Not to mention we're close to the cap limit and we still have to sign Gagne who's apparently demanding more than $5 million. IDK how we're gonna have the cap space unless Primeau retires(he's still injured from October, Post concussion syndrome).

I'm a 3rd year materials Science Major. I live over in Silvers. And this is OT, but I'm really glad Brian Leonard decided to return for another season :)
