As most of you already know, we just signed Sykora, and many of us Oiler fans are hoping he can man the point on our PP. Did he do this while with the Devils? How did he perform in this position?
Appreciate the info!

He did some of that during the Robinson era.

Yes, he has a pretty good one-timer.

Basically he'd be like the left handed version of Jarret Stoll in that role. Not so much the playmaker from the point, just the guy with the huge shot waiting for the one timer.

Sykora flourishes in open spaces where he can rip his laser one-timer. He will do very well on the point. Claude Lemieux actually did a great job with the Avs in that capacity once upon a time. Good signing by the Oil.

He's got a harder shot than Pronger.

Certainly. He's more physical too.

WHOOOO????
You mean... Sean Pronger, right?
Sykora scored a huge goal in the 2000 SCF vs. Dallas on the point, on the powerplay. Belfour got a piece of the puck, but floated by him.
Speaking of floating, welcome to Petr Sykora, Edmonton Oilers.

He was A-W-F-U-L on the point for us.
Dreadful.
This is a clearcut case of addition by subtraction for New York.

That's what my thinking is. The Oilers like having that trigger man on the point on the PP. I think Sykora is going to be a good fit with the Oilers.
