I scanned quick and didn't see this so if its a double post my apologies. I'm going to catch some games of this kid in Cornell this year. I think he is going to make it in the NHL someday.

Thanks for the link - it's a great article. Nice to learn a little more about one of our later draft choices.

some of things said about him in the article remind me of some of the things said about Brian Gionta very early on.

Totally!

Nice find and good read. It's also good to hear about our two Russian kids tearing it up it their respective leagues. I might have to reconsider my prospect ratings.

Just to let you guys know, younggunshockey.com had him ranked 79th in their top 100. I think if this guy can add some weight and defensive awareness, he could end up a pretty good player.

Great read! Thanks!

It would be nice if in this draft we got the Next Gionta (Romano) and Daneyko (Corrente), but I doubt that will happen.

I grew up playing on LI, I know a bit about Alexei Nikiforov (Romano's Jr Coach). He does a great job getting guys ready for the next level, hopefully Romano excels at Cornell. OPA! During the off-season a lot of Russian guys still come and train with Alexei. Kasparaitis, Yashin, and Zhamnov are guys I have seen skating at the Rinx with him.

I'm suprised Vlad Nikiforov (Alexei's son) wasn't drafted. Like his father he has incredible wheels, soft hands, and is a very gifted passer.

Overall I think Lou and Co. did a pretty good job at the draft.

Nikiforov participated in the Dallas Stars development camp last month. He's still draft eligible. He's quite a bit smaller than Barrie has him listed though. He's actually only 5'5" 142 lbs.
