hebegb 08-01-2006, 03:30 PM Interesting article on NHL.com mentioning Brodeur:

Some people never seem to give him any credit and attribute his success to the Devil's system or the D-men around him. How good is Brodeur in comparison both to his peers and historically?

Great first post. I bet your stay will be mighty flameworthy. Oh wait, you're not trying to incite one, but it will anyways.

hebegb , You'll have to forgive him. I don't know how long you have lurked but anytime somebody says something good about Brodeur everybody else or atleast most people post and say how overrated Brodeur is. For awhile there about every month there was a thread about how overratted (yes I know it's misspelled) Brodeur was.
Al Trautwig 08-01-2006, 04:18 PM If Brodeur wasn't good at playing the puck with his stick and good at stopping shots by the other team, he wouldn't even be in the NHL, and that is a fact.

yeah, truer words have never been spoken

Yeah damn him for stopping the puck and even though the rules kind of screwed him over damn him for being able to play the puck. :sarcasm:
DevilFisch 08-01-2006, 05:13 PM Masai: You're good. Real good.
Brodeur: The best.

Nothing gets me more excited than an homage to the Warriors!

Think Patrick Roy on steroids.
Jonathan. 08-01-2006, 05:33 PM Top 3 all-time.
Anyone who says else is either:
A) Braindead
B) A ridiculously homer-istic Rangers fan
C) Braindead

God, I hope Dick Pound doesn't read these boards...

I'm none of those things, but the numbers really do not bear that out. The deeper you go statistically the more average Brodeur ends up looking.
Goalie Wins are about on the same order of usefulness in player evaluation as pitcher Wins in baseball which is to say not at all other than being used to (unjustly) decide major awards.
I don't see, for instance, how you can defend Brodeur finishing second to only Kiprusoff for the Vezina this year???

You Brodeur bashers are slipping. It took 13 posts before one of you fanboys dipped into the shallow end of the intelligence pool? Man, used to take about 5 posts, tops!
Go away. Before you are completely embarrassed.

Did you see Brodeur the first I think two or so months into the season?. The whole team was terrible.

fine then, look at GAA, SV %, etc.

So two months of admittedly terrible play followed by improved performance that directly coincides with the return of Elias (hard to claim Broduer picked the team up even if it wasn't all Elias) = Vezina runner up?

Broduer's are and have been middling, even moreso when adjusted to reflect his strong defensive supporting cast

I don't think I have the energy to engage in one of these debates...the Devils salary cap threads this summer have worn me out.

I've gotten into this on the NHL board I don't think I need to get into this again especially on a Devils team board. I think we are the only board that actually gets this :dunno:

I agree. I'd rather read a cereal box than these lame posts.
ratsgirl 08-01-2006, 07:55 PM Let's just put this thread out of its misery before all the regular "Marty is overrated" posters find their way here.
