Mike Miller says he wants to get back into broadcasting games and that he has several offers from NHL teams and other sports. We all know that John Hennessy got fired so I'm almost positive the Devils are one of those teams. I still get chills when I think about hearing "and it's one....to nothing....NEW JERSEY!!!!" with the CAA crowd in the background. This would make losing Velishek much more tolerable if we got someone of Miller's calibre back.

Nice. It sucks he'll be back only on the radio. I used to listen to him back in the day when I didn't have FSNY. Couldn't we get a Doc-Chico-Miller trio up in the TV booth? :teach:

Perhaps I've been out of the loop this off-season but, Hennessy was fired?...and what's this about losing Velischek too?
Indeed, Miller's would be a welcome return, esecially in tandem with Velischek...twas disappointing when he was replaced by Hennessy...I believe Miller was ill at the time?

The article gives a good rundown of his history with some kind of throat cancer and what he did after leaving the Devils.
As for Hennessy and Velischek, they were both fired unexpectedly. I could see getting rid of Hennessy, he wasn't too good, but Velischek was awesome, much better than Chico. Apparently he didn't take it too well and was pretty pissed. Some think it had something to do with him releasing Brodeur's contract extension early, but I don't think that's it. He will be missed.

Mike had a tough time and I hope his health problems are behind him. But I think the radio guys(??) have been selected, Lou will probably release the info in a few weeks.
The rumors I've heard are that ownership wanted a change. Maybe there are WFAN people who convinced him that the radio broadcast could be better.
Whatever happens I hope M.Miller is doing well, I was worried about him.

I thought he did come back after he was healthy and then left after that season to be the Toledo Storm GM.
I agree he should be rehired and I wouldn't be suprised if he was rehired. He was essentially fired of his duties in Toledo in Janurary and said then that he wanted to go back to broadcasting. So this is not breaking news. The team probably knew this and thus why they let Hennessey go.
