I think if he has a good camp, yeah, but I really think he'll spend another year at the AHL level.

Barry Tallackson is probably our most likely prospect to make an impact this year.

I think Bergfors will be the first call-up this year.

The Devils probably don't want to rush him, but if he shows he's ready with a strong training camp and preseason, then the Devils should not hold him back. The consensus is that it would be best for him to have another full year in the AHL, and it defintely wouldn't hurt, but if he looks like he might be ready, give him a shot.

I'm going to say better than that. Had he played a full season this year he would have been on pace for 50 points. So, with an improved Lowell team, and another season under his belt, I don't think 70+ points is too far-fetched.

Is Zajac the same calibre of Bergfors? Are the Devils to be equally excited over both of them eventually being part of the team or is Bergfors clearly the top prospect of the system. From what I have read Zajac seems to have top flight speed with offensive skills to match. Can I assume that he could have that same ability to break through the neutral zone a la Gomer? If Lou manages the cap correctly and lets say all things being equal in a years or twos time could we see something like:

Elias - Gomez - Gionta
Parise - Zajac - Bergfors
Pandolfo - Madden - Langenbrunner
(?) - (?) - (?) I don't really care to try and guess the fourth line....

Obviously Parise and Zajac are both C's, but i think Parise has some game on the wing as evident by his play with G&G. That proposition has me salavating as to the offensive prowless the Devils could have.

Postscript: I like rookies, especially with the right balance of veteran leadership on the team. Zajac and bergie learning from the likes of Madden, Langs, Elly etc etc could be just as beneficial as getting tons of time in Lowell. Pipedreamin' of course. but if someone could let me know where they see Zajac in terms of his potential and maybe what NHL'er he plays like it'd be greatly appreciated. I think he has as much offensive potential as Gomez, but is more physical. I've heard comparisons to Kieth Tkachuk, Doug Weight, etc.

I would prefer to see Parise switched with Elias, and have Patty play with Zajac and Bergfors. That would be an explosive line!

The Parise-Gomez-Gionta line was very successful, and Parise can only get better with them. A line with a 3 very young players probably wouldn't be good for their development.

Whenever I think of Elias playing with Bergfors I get quite giddy. :sarcasm:

The NJ Devils of the future are going to be an offensive juggernaut if even half of these prospects pan out. Zajac's future is, IMO, as bright as Bergfors'. He could be the next Joe Nieuwendyk.

Then with lesser talent like Vrana, Tallackson, Khomutov, and even Sundstrom in the system, there's huge potential in the front lines. Our future weakness will be on the back end.

Zajac's future is quite a bit better than Bergfors, IMHO.

Zajac, IMO, is an amazing prospect and I think I might actually rank him as the better prospect even if it's less likely he'll hit his upside. If he learns to use his body and skills as he can he can be a top flight 1st line player.

From watching Zajac in North Dakota his defensive awareness is better than any prospect we have in our system. His faceoff skills are very good and he is a smart player.

Especially with the uncertainty of our 4th line and money issues.

I hope the good Lord can help Adrian stay healthy. I would love to see him make the team and play with Sarge on a 4th line. 10 to 15 goals might even be possible with his talent.

I fully expect Zajac to be our future 1st line center.... Bergfors will probably be our future 2nd line right winger.

It always seems through the scouting reports that "Player 'X' is a mix of Gretzky and Lemieux with a little more offensive skill". I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but I think Bergfors has the potential to make some noise on the top line (judging by his stats in Albany). I haven't seen Zajac play yet, so I'll with hold my opinion.
