GDT: Devils At Rochester (Sabres) 11/12/03Blackjack 11-12-2003, 01:15 PM http://www.nhlpa.com/Player_Pics/6782.jpg Prediction: 2-1 Devils Elias from Gomez Gionta with the game winner (of course) borrachon 11-12-2003, 02:10 PM I won't make a prediction, but I hope Gomez can get like 6 points to quiet all these trade rumors. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 02:27 PM I'm going with 3-1 Devils. Goals from Madden, Freeze and Gomez (yes that Gomez) NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 02:28 PM I'm just going to make a side comment that has nothign to do with the game tonight - I really hate the dark jerseys at home. I just can't get used to them. Ok, that was off base, but seriously, going to take a while to get used to seeing the Devs in red at home and white on the road. meehan 11-12-2003, 02:50 PM I am going with a 1-1 tie. Buffalo goal from Jay McKee, NJ goal from Scott Niedermayer. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 03:07 PM I don't know if Marshall is back tonight, but if he is we could see a good fight or two between him and Andrew Peters. Maybe Turner or Stevens will go a round with him if things get out of hand. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 03:15 PM So much for that thought. Peters is a healthy scratch. Ruff should have dressed him just to entertain all the people in Rochester for a few shifts. 4check22 11-12-2003, 03:17 PM So much for that thought. Peters is a healthy scratch. Ruff should have dressed him just to entertain all the people in Rochester for a few shifts. Unless Berglund goes down to Albany, Marshall will be a scratch too I think. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 04:14 PM Brian Rafalski is a man amongs boys out there. He has been unbelieveable in this game. P.S. - He's also been our best player this season IMO. P.P.S - We have no finishers on this team. 5 on 3 PP and we had shot after shot with no goals. It's frustrating watching us get shots down low at point blank range and we just can't put it in. I don't know what the answer is, but we need to start scoring. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 04:15 PM Taylor makes Broduer look silly with a nice shot upstairs. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 04:16 PM Turner Stevenson looked lost. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 04:19 PM Stevens hasn't been himself this year, and Hale and Martin have been average at best. I'm concerned with out D. White hasn't been anything special either, nor has Albelin or Brown for that matter. Rafalski and Nieds have been great though. borrachon 11-12-2003, 04:22 PM I'm not too worried about the defence, but the team shooting percentage definitely needs an improvement. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 04:23 PM If ever there was a single game where Gionta should get his offense going it should be this one. He supposedly has 100 plus friends in attendance for this one. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 04:24 PM There's another example of our lack of confidence on O. Everyone looking to pass on a 3 on 1 oppurtunity. Elias roofs it into the crows on a nice save by Biron. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 04:26 PM I'm not too worried about the defence, but the team shooting percentage definitely needs an improvement. You're probably right, but man, i miss Dan-o. Talk about an unsung hero for the ages. Stevens is up there too, these young guys need to step up, but they are still young. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 04:26 PM Gomez runs into me and I'd laugh. Gomez runs into Biron and its an Amtrak derailment. MattNJD 11-12-2003, 04:33 PM Gomez is flying tonight. Anyone elase ready to send Eilas packing?? What happened to him? I guess the a-line really was his calling. Tradeing Gomez INSTEAD of Elias would be a crime. Get Gomez a winger and watch him get back to 75+ points a year. Berglund looks good tonight also. If we lose him on waivers trying to send him back to Albany I am going to go absolutly mental! Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 04:39 PM Friesen ties it on the PP. Langenbrunner worked well down low and had several chances. DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 04:39 PM FINALLY, the Devils score. Thank you Jeff Friesen. That power play nearly made me cry. MattNJD 11-12-2003, 04:39 PM OMG! Friesen scores his first goal in 6 years!!!!!!! Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 04:59 PM Caps are scoring on every other shift right now against the Hurricanes. They look like Ottawa tonight. Or how Ottawa should look most nights anyways. NJDevils#4 11-12-2003, 05:01 PM Now if Gomez and Madden score my prediction will be right Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 05:20 PM Langenbrunner scores after a buffalo giveaway to Rafalski. DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 05:20 PM Elias...across the blueline, takes a close shot at Biron, rebound, Langenbrunner...SCORES!!!! 2-1! SHORTY FROM LANGENBRUNNER! Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 05:23 PM Maxim Afinoginov scores after Biron does another Lalime acting job selling the hit from Friesen and just like that the Sabres tie it and I lose my Center Ice feed of the game. ratsgirl 11-12-2003, 05:25 PM argh, the empire station feed just died. somebody tell me what's going on!! DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 05:26 PM Nargh, Afinogenov decides to do something and scores a game tying goal. It's 4-on-4 hockey, due to coincidental minors (not sure what on who, but I think diving's involved). 2-2 score. 5:30 left to play. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 05:26 PM argh, the empire station feed just died. somebody tell me what's going on!! I lost everything for a bit, but now have the video with no audio. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 05:28 PM Doubt this would have happened if the game had been played in Buffalo. This blows. ratsgirl 11-12-2003, 05:30 PM gotta love empire  i even have to pay for it in addition to center ice because i'm somehow too close to buffalo and all sabres games are blacked out. but it's back now. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 05:40 PM Looked like Brylin injured his wrist in the 3rd period. Didn't see him on the bench or back out on the ice ever since the clean hit. DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 05:44 PM It's OT. About 2 minutes left, Buffalo on the PP with about 50 seconds left. Eep. ratsgirl 11-12-2003, 05:47 PM exciting OT. but niedermayer should have scored! DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 06:00 PM I could have felt a Niedermayer goal there. Alas, it was not to be. Devils tie, but still are undefeated in their last 7. KillToronto 11-12-2003, 06:03 PM You guys do realize it's pouring out in western new york right? that's why everyone is losing thier signals. i have digital cable with center ice and the only time i lose signals is during storms. I Hate Tie DOMI 11-12-2003, 06:04 PM Anyone elase ready to send Eilas packing?? What happened to him? I guess the a-line really was his calling. Tradeing Gomez INSTEAD of Elias would be a crime. Get Gomez a winger and watch him get back to 75+ points a year. Berglund looks good tonight also. If we lose him on waivers trying to send him back to Albany I am going to go absolutly mental! Elias pretty much did all the work for the Langenbrunner goal, and Elias made the pass to Niedermayer in OT. I only saw the third and OT, but it sure looked to me like he was trying out there. I doubt Gomez gets 75 points playing for NJ. I doubt that anyone will. If we lose Berglund on waivers, make sure there is room for me in the straight jacket you will be wearing. DevilFisch 11-12-2003, 06:16 PM I have been saying this all along, Burns won't play Berglund, the guy has yet to get a chance on the offensive lines also. I really hate Burns as a coach, horrible for our younger forwards. Incidentally, Brian Gionta has been on the first line for the past few games with Elias and Gomez. I know he's been moved around, but come on. You can't be serious. Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 06:33 PM Berglund was less consistent then Rupp was last season and thats saying a lot. He knows he has to play his best to get more minutes and stay up with the team and lately he's been looking pretty invisable. Rasmussen was again more impressive then he was tonight. MattNJD 11-12-2003, 06:43 PM Berglund was less consistent then Rupp was last season and thats saying a lot. He knows he has to play his best to get more minutes and stay up with the team and lately he's been looking pretty invisable. Rasmussen was again more impressive then he was tonight. I'll take Berglund over Rupp any day of the week! devildan 11-12-2003, 07:04 PM I really hate Burns as a coach, horrible for our younger forwards. Thats ******** Jason. Berglund needs to produce a bit before he can be moved up (and the same can be said for Gionta). Rupp dosnt even get up with Jersey last year if it wasnt for Burns. The young fowards just arent good enough to play on the first line right now. NJDevs430 11-12-2003, 07:32 PM We have no finishers on this team. 5 on 3 PP and we had shot after shot with no goals. It's frustrating watching us get shots down low at point blank range and we just can't put it in. I don't know what the answer is, but we need to start scoring. Agreed...we need to get a snake bite kit for Elias and we need to hold a target practice session. Devils did not take this game seriously and paid for it with a point. They need to make the point tomorrow night against Florida and let them know that they will not take any points from us easily. I hope Brylin will be able to play. }:-)> Niedermayer21 11-12-2003, 08:41 PM When Grant Marshall is healthy, I think you'll see him with Gomez and Elias, both of whom should remain Devils IMO. No need to trade either. I would like to see Gionta sit and Berglund get more playing time. If anyone is going down to Albany, it will be either Martin or Hale. Remote possibility of Rasmussen going down. He should pass through waivers with no problem. But you never know! :dunno: Sorry to be repetitive, but this would be my lineup if I were Fat Burns: Berglund--Gomez--Marshall Elias--Larionov--Brylin (Suglobov or Balmochnykh if Brylin goes on IR) Friesen--Madden--Langenbrunner Pandolfo--Rupp--Stevenson Rasmussen and Gionta Rafalski--Stevens Niedermayer--White Martin or Hale--Albelin/Brown Brodeur Schwab Let's hope Sarge will be okay. Poor little guy works his butt off and gets hurt every year. Life is not fair!!!!!!!!!!!! Unthinkable 11-12-2003, 09:02 PM According to the NY Times game recap, Brylin injured his shoulder and will be questionable for tomorrow night against the Panthers. I Hate Tie DOMI 11-12-2003, 09:19 PM If Marshall isn't ready to go tomorrow night and Brylin and Larionov can't play then who gets called up from Albany? Or will Albelin or Brown play wing tomorrow night? Guttersnipe 11-12-2003, 09:39 PM When Grant Marshall is healthy, I think you'll see him with Gomez and Elias, both of whom should remain Devils IMO. No need to trade either. Good God, you want more of the Elias-Gomez-Marshall line? That line has been DOA all year, I'd rather have Gionta stay on that line. NJDevs430 11-13-2003, 06:14 AM Good God, you want more of the Elias-Gomez-Marshall line? That line has been DOA all year, I'd rather have Gionta stay on that line. Did you mean MIA? Maybe Marshall was not 100% before. Hopefully, with his healthy return - that line will get better. My questions is, Why? Why did it have to be us Gary? Why could it have not been the travelling freak show that is the NY Rangers? }:-(> As you might be able to tell, I was disappointed with the tie last night. MattNJD 11-13-2003, 09:15 AM Good God, you want more of the Elias-Gomez-Marshall line? That line has been DOA all year, I'd rather have Gionta stay on that line. I'de like to see Elias-Gomez-Berglund. | ||
