Buffon is the best keeper in the world. But guys like Lehmann, Kahn, Cech play in the same league.

No matter how you spin that phrase, Lehmann and Kahn (these days as far as Kahn goes) are in no way in the same league. Lehmann never has been and never will be unless Buffon joins a Premiership club.

Buffon is the best, because of his ability, intelligence and leadership. He is a general back there, and reassures even the strongest of defenders.

I think Peter Cech is outstanding as well. For the Czechs in this tournament, he made several crucial saves that gave the Czechs some hope in games they didn't have much of a chance in (against Ghana and Italy).

Actually, I've always said Buffon was number one.
For years.

My top 3 :
1- Buffon
2- Cech
3- Coupet

Akinfeev at CSKA needs a look at.I've always thought Toldo is as good as Buffon .Cech Casillas de Saar all deserve a very honourable mention.

This WC has to be Buffon if you're drawing up a WC XI.

Buffon is the modern day Dino Zoff. Awesome leader and great keeper. Hard to beat at any time. Therefore, slight edge to Italy for the WC final.

Absolutely.. Great reaction speed n crouches down to cut down low angles n can explode for high shots..

Funny when he was a kid everyone was scared of him and no one talked to him b/c he was so hairy and big.. The kids in school used to call him "bigfoot"

Without a doubt, but Cech is right up there with him.

Italy's defence may be the best in the world though.

Makes you wonder.

Buffon is the leader of the defense though. Like I mentioned, he is an absolute general, and makes the entire defense better. I've seen him countless of times for Juventus, and he is always communicating with his defenders. If I were to build a team, I would name Buffon my captain. He is just so important for any team he plays for.

We've seen certain times in this World Cup, where the defense has broken down, and Buffon has been there to make the save. His positioning is exceptional, and he has very good reflexes.

A year ago everyone was slagging Lehman off to high hell. Now he's in the top 5? He's good, but it's more great form than anything else.

Oh, and yes, Buffon is number one by a long way.

Buffon is the best but not the best in this tourney in my view. Cech ws unreal against Ghana. Will see what happens against France

He is, he's also the best gambling goalkeeper. Maybe him and Gretzky are buddies.

He is but I'm going to laugh when he's banned as soon as the World Cup is over.
