My thoughts on the games (btw I couldn't find the thread!):
Italy 3 - Ukraine 0
I feel Italy benefitted from a Ukraine team that couldn't stick the ball in the net when it mattered, credit to them to go out and score more goals but I feel they can be had.
Germany 1 - Argentina 1 (4-2 Germany on Penalties)
This was a decent game that perhaps Argentina should have won with the possession they had earlier in the match, plus Riquelme's substitution didn't help. Credit to the Germans for fighting back and not giving anything away and the way they cooly slotted hom the penalties. btw the scene at the end of the game was a disgrace and those players should get severe punishment.
England 0 - Portugal 0 (3-1 Portugal on Penalties)
I feel that Portugal were poor. England were pathetic and with the quality of posession the Portuguese had they should have punished England earlier and not let it get to penalties. Rooney was stupid but the Portuguese were big time cheats throughout the game, they also cheated against the Dutch and really FIFA should do something about this. On that point I don't understand FIFA they are letting cheating take place, what the hell kind of message does that send out about the game. All cheaters imo should be automatically banned for the tournament (ok that's severe how about one game at least?)
In any case the game itself was bad from an England point of view, both Gerrard and Lampard looked lost about their roles and Rooney was left on his own. In fact the entire team looked very negative and not one that was putting any emphasis on attack. It's good that Ericsson is gone he has been a very poor manager this world cup.
Brazil 0 - France 1
France was unbelievable. Zidane was divine, Vieria was a rock and Makele was fantastic, the defence was solid and the forwards all did their job. Barthez was a **** on a few occasions but on the whole did well.
As for Brazil they were poor, Ronaldo especially was a joke feeling the need to dive/cheat more than actually play on a few occasions. Ronaldinho was uninspiring and Kaka wasn't getting anywhere. For me Brazil were not fantastic today but I feel that is more down to the way the French beat them out.
Predictions
Germany - Italy
The Germans have never lost a game ever at the Westfalonstadion and I think they will get the win. They are at home and nothing short of victory will do, if it goes to penalties, well the Germans have practically won the game (only two players in their ENTIRE HISTORY have ever missed a penalty!).
France - Portugal
I didn't like the look of Portugal, and the form that the French midfield is in I think they will walk over Portugal, I'm going for a French win.
