Jared Ramsden 11-08-2003, 10:36 AM Hey guys, Clemmensen and Rupp are not eligable to be on the Top 20 List anymore, so I thought I'd come to the board and ask for some feedback on who you guys think should be added to the list. Keep in mind I'm not updating the full list just yet, just adding two guys to fill out the Top 20.
I'll check the thread Sunday night to see which two guys have the most votes and then add those two to the top 20.
Thanks again everyone
Jared

Ahren Nittel, Krisjanis Redlihs
Maxim Balmochnykh probably deserves healthy consideration as well.
DevilFisch 11-08-2003, 10:58 AM Would Balmochnykh even be eligible?
Anyway, I'd say Marek Chvatel and Ahren Nittel.

I think so if Mike Rupp is still considered a top 20 prospect.
Unthinkable 11-08-2003, 11:07 AM Here is how HF judges a prospect:
http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=1790004
Hockey's Future is dedicated to prospects. To establish uniformity among all the team pages and to increase the credibility of all the articles, all players listed on HF will follow the "Prospect Rules" to help editors and writers in determining who is and isn't considered a prospect anymore. Players who no longer qualify, as prospects will be removed from team lists and rankings.
1. A prospect that has played 41+ NHL games in one season or 65+ NHL games in two seasons is not a prospect anymore.
2. A goalie prospect that has played 20+ NHL games in one season or 30+ NHL games in two seasons is not a prospect anymore.
3. A prospect that has played 240+ total games in the AHL/ECHL is no longer a prospect.
4. Goalies that have played four full seasons in the AHL/ECHL are no longer prospects.
5. A prospect that is over 24 is not a prospect anymore, with the exception of players who played in college. Former college players may remain on the prospect list for two seasons after their graduation, or age 26, whichever is longer.
6. Any European player that has played in more than 225 games in an Elite league is no longer a prospect.
7. Any European goalie that has played four full seasons in an Elite league is no longer a prospect.
8. If a European or North American player has a combo of Elite/AHL/ECHL games played equaling 100+ elite games and 125+ AHL/ECHL games or 225+ games combined they are no longer considered a prospect.
9. Any European or North America goalie that has a combination of four full seasons of Elite or AHL/ECHL league play is no longer considered prospects.
The graduated list on team pages will consist of players who have recently graduated to the roster of their NHL teams, but still fit the prospect criteria. A skater prospect may sit on the graduated list until he has played 100 games in the NHL. A goalie prospect may sit on the graduated list until he has played 50 games in the NHL.
If a player sits on the cusp of no longer being a prospect under our criteria they may remain on the list due to management discretion.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Goiing by these criteria, I believe Maxim still qualifies.
Unthinkable 11-08-2003, 12:19 PM Change Chvatal to Balmochnykh
Nice avatar Jason. Post your thoughts on him when you see him play next if you don't mind.
LaLaLaprise 11-08-2003, 01:02 PM Vrana -- has a bruised shoulder, he is out 10 days or so.
Niedermayer21 11-08-2003, 02:58 PM Jason, where is PEli? Didn't he get season tickets for Halifax? If anyone knows about Vrana, PEli is the man to ask.
BTW, as good as Vrana sounds, I think we should have selected Fritsche or Bergeron. Patrice Bergeron would have made the Devils IMO. At least for a trial period, where if he performed well, he would stick for the year. He is bigger than Vrana, a righty shot, and if he is good on draws, he'd be making a nice mark on our fourth line.
Oh, well. I guess I'll have to settle for Vrana. A happy problem! :)

PEli is alive and well sharing his constructive thoughts on Vrana in a different thread:

Like Jason said, Bergeron is a full timer because Boston dealt Josef Stumpel back to the Kings for a draft pick freeing up a key spot at forward. I was skeptical that his hot start might fade once other players started hitting him routinely with good clean checks, but he's still playing well for the B's.
Niedermayer21 11-08-2003, 03:13 PM Jared, I would like to know more about Alex Brooks. Is he a prospect or a career minor-leaguer? Saw him play once and didn't really get a read on him.
Also, I would like to know something about Ryan Murphy.
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!! :D
LaLaLaprise 11-08-2003, 03:36 PM I knwo for sure, 100% that it is the same shoulder he hurt last year in the playoffs.
And concerning the Fritsche, Bergeron and Vrana argument...All three players are 18, all three players are good.
Look at Columbus's forward depth, Bostons depth at C and then look at NJ's deoth at C.
Vrana would have had to beat out one of these players: Brylin, Madden, Gomez, Larionov and Rassmussen. Please tell me how an 18 year old player, on a team that notoriously doesnt rush young players, is supposed to beat out 2 of those guys to make it. Plus Petr would have to be on line 2.
The argument is moot when we are only 5 months post draft. Come back in 5 years and then look at it.
LaLaLaprise 11-08-2003, 05:03 PM Brooks is nothing at all, lucky to be an AHL'er, Murphy I know nothing about.
Why would central scouting have it as a wrist injury then.
It could be a typo. But both papers here list it as a shoulder injury, and the people i know with the organization say its his shoulder.
Blackjack 11-09-2003, 09:26 AM Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought you only started hyping Pihlman after he scored a truckload of points in the Finnish league...
Jared Ramsden 11-10-2003, 08:24 AM I actually had Voros in the Top 20 before he was hurt for most of last season. I'm actually pretty high on him too. I think for the #19 and #20 spots, we will have Nittel and Voros......
