unbelievable.

He was recently hired as a Juventus' executive;
apparently he fell off a window of Juventus' center.
Rumours say he fell down from the building's ceiling though.
He suffered several fractures and some internal lesions but current whispers say his life would not be in danger.

Or he knows too much?

Either way, quite shocking. :(

This is very shocking news. I hope he is alright. He has been a loyal Juventini.

I hope he will be 'ok'.
Latest news seem to indicate that he is suffering from depression. Del Piero, Zambrotta and Ferrara have now came back to Italy to see him.

A delicate surgery took care of an internal hemorrhage in the afternoon. Fortunately examinations seem to exclude marrow damages..
Another surgery was performed tonight to reduce his hipbone fractures. He has other less serious fractures though that could require further surgery.
He is currently under pharmacological coma.

This morning it became public that Pessotto was close to die during the surgery to his hipbone this past night. That forced the surgeon to halve the length of the surgery.
He has a fracture to his spine too, but it's confirmed examinations ruled out marrow damages.
However, it seems there is a 15% that he will suffer permanent damage to one of his legs.
It's confirmed that it was a suicide attempt. He fell from a 10 metres height and his life was saved by two parked cars that reduced the impact.
As for the reasons, Juventus' doctor Agricola said "he received some news from some people"

This is very sad to hear of. Apparently Pessotto told his wife he was sick of having to do a desk job & wanted to be out on the pitch & missed the camraderie of the team atmosphere.

This is not an unusual phenomenon. In cricket for example here the suicide rate among players is statistically significantly greater than for the general population. The reasons were found to be similar.

Nothing can substitute for the thrill of the game & adrenalin. But in the macho circles they move in no one is willing to admit the feelings of depression & so they get worse.

I sincerely hope that he recovers & receives the proper counselling & comes back to Juve in some coaching capacity.

When I heard the news after the World Cup Game, my mouth dropped. They said Del Piero and another Juventus player flew back in a private jet to see him.

Is that true?

This is very sad to hear of. Apparently Pessotto told his wife he was sick of having to do a desk job...I've heard all kind of rumours, but honestly that seems not the case. He was already battling some kind of depression and apparently he had some problems with his wife recently.

ah, women..

Certainly sounds suspicious doesn't it? It wouldn't surprise me if there was more than meets the eye...

Materazzi probably fouled him from behind or something

I didn't think there was any contact. It was a dive.

Pessotto opened his eyes yesterday.
For the first time since the accident doctors are showing some optimism.

Cannavaro, Zambrotta, Ferrara and Del Piero went to see Pessotto this afternoon to show the cup. It is good news considering that Pessotto's health seemed to have gone worse over the weekend.

Today, for the first time, doctors declared Pessotto out of life's danger. :)

Apparently he doesn't remember anything about the 'accident' yet.
