For those that haven't heard about this, you can read about it here http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=169536&hubname=

I think that the Canucks won the deal, but it was fairly close. Allen and Auld are both good players and I can see Bertuzzi breaking out again.
Having said that, again I do think that the Canucks won the deal.
Jerky Leclerc 06-24-2006, 05:16 AM Florida got some young guns on that team. Bertuzzi would be a nice complement to Jokinen. Both guys have a nice package of skill and size that could dominate games. Getting Allen and Auld is a bonus. IMO, Florida would have gotten a better package from LA with Frolov, Brown, and Garon. However, Keenan isn't rebuilding. There is pressure to win now and Bertuzzi makes the Panthers a playoff team. The question everyone has is whether Bertuzzi can recapture his game. He's 31 years old and lost his edge. I don't think he'll ever play as dominant three seasons ago but Keenan and Martin will help "motivate" him to be very good.
In Luongo, the Canucks got a rock in the crease. There is no more question mark in net and the team can play with more confidence. Last season, it was obvious the Canucks are now the Sedin's team. Losing Bertuzzi won't hurt their offense. IMO, the Canucks will miss Allen more and hopefully Luc Bourdon will make the team next season. The Canucks need to find a way to keep Jovo from leaving or replace him because Ohlund and Salo aren't the punishing Dman Jovo and Allen were.
In the end, the trade is going to be a push because both teams got what they needed.

[Luongo] wanted the team to make a public statement they would not trade him, Florida would hire Francois Allaire as his goaltender coach, and the Panthers would sign goaltender Jamie McLennan (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=1004) as his backup.
Luongo wants to steal our goaltending coach. Hey, Roberto, you want him, you have to come here! (for nothing more than $3 million per...) :)

Sounds like questionable ethcis to me. Expecting his team to approach a man currently under contract.
Duckstudd269 06-25-2006, 09:44 PM The big question is can the Canucks get him resigned?
Off topic, but has anyone else been having trouble with getting on this website?

Yesterday and a little today, it was pretty bad.
The rest of the afternoon today though, it has been pretty fast. :)

Exactly. :)

Yea, I was having ALOT of trouble yesterday, today.....not so much.
So Luongo really wanted Francois Allaire as his coach? Is that even possible? Isn't Allaire under a long term contract?
Dolemite 06-26-2006, 04:34 AM In the end, the trade is going to be a push because both teams got what they needed.
You're missing one key element here. Jovanoski. It's no secret that he has a home in Florida, he's a free agent, and he has openly experessed interest in playing for Florida. Add to that he and Bertuzzi share agents. Advantage Florida...barely.
Bjindaho 06-26-2006, 01:21 PM I would have traded Francois Allaire to Florida for Jay Bouwmeester, Rusty Olesz, and a 1st.

I guess that would be a good trade, but Allaire is a really good goalie coach. I am sure we'd see the consequences of this trade.
Professor John Frink 06-27-2006, 01:46 AM I hate this trade from our perspective.
The likes or Vancouver and Calgary(with the Tanguay deal) got stronger IMO.
Vancouver and Calgary, teams we will be competing with, have both gotten stronger in areas of need. If we are going to contend we need to do the same.

You still have to see what Lowe is going to do with Pronger and his huge list of FA's and what 'The Nonis' is going to do to fill up the rest of the Canucks roster.

I would agree here...Vancouver and Calgary slayed their respective trading partners (assuming Luongo can get signed long term)
Kick Save 06-27-2006, 11:42 AM Florida got a nice package and, as others have pointed out, they'll likely land Jovanoski because they acquired Bertuzzi. That said, Vancouver got the premier young netminder in the NHL. They will "win" the deal, but only if they can sign Luongo to a multi-year deal.

Conceptually speaking, I wouldn't.

If the Loungo sign with the nucks for a long term deal
they win with a tko
HOWEVER
Bertuzzi is more likely to sign with the panthers then Loungo with the nucks
It was a trade of two problems players
It comes down to Allan/Auld for Kjecek and a 6th--The addition of Loungo made Auld Expendable
so it is Allan for Kjecek and a 6th--not a bad deal

Yeah, I guess I'm not seeing it the same as you. :dunno:
