The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed left wing Travis Moen to a one-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Moen, 24 (4/6/82), scored 4-1=5 points in 39 regular season games with Anaheim last season. The 6-2, 216-pounder added 1-0=1 point in nine postseason contests with the club. A native of Stewart Valley, Sask., Moen appeared in his first NHL season in 2003-2004 with Chicago, earning 4-2=6 points with 142 penalty minutes in 82 games.

I'm glad he's coming back, but I hope he's just a fill in. I don't want him to be a regular on the team.

Well at least its a better signing than say Jason Marshall. Talk about robbery, the guy sat in the press box the entire year for 450k.

Good signing.

I'm sure it's for the league minimum on a one-way contract.

Burke likes Moen because he can skate really well for a player of his size and aggressiveness. I like that he always sticks up for his teammates and is not scared of the heavyweights in the league. And he is capable of chipping in a goal here and there.

That's the price for not having to shuttle a player/prospect back from the East Coast... :handclap:

Couldn't we have replaced Moen with Konopka?

I'm hoping Konopka is a guy that stays on the roster full time, not an extra forward.
Moen can sit in the press box, I want konopka on the ice.

Good signing. I like Travis, he gives 100% each oppourtunity he gets and was strong in the playoffs. He's not an amazing talent or anything but he brings what he's capable of every night. I fear though he'll be a reserve again and if Konopka does resign I think he may bump Travis on the depth chart. It's just good to see, God I hate to use this pun, that Burke is getting all his ducks in a row. The sooner we get all of our RFA's resigned the better.

Meh. I would rather have Konopka come in and take his spot. But Moen is good for filling in for a few games if someone needs hurt or a physical game.

I would like to see Konopka in Moen's role but oh well.

Moen is better ok PK/defense, but Konpoka has more grit and willingness to sit in front of the net.

yup, and was seriously considered, they loved his FO skills, but he ended up getting cut and joined a swiss team.

The Mighty Ducks on Wednesday announced the signing of winger Travis Moen to a one-year contract.

Moen, 24, collected four goals, an assist and 72 penalty minutes in 39 regular-season games for the Ducks in 2005-06. He had one goal in nine playoff games. He received a salary bump from $450,000 to $475,000.

Sounds good to me. :)

I think Moen will play a Jason Marshall role next season. Go Konopka!?

I like the signing. Moen won't be more than a spare part this season, but when he plays he brings everything to the table.
