devsjunkie 06-09-2006, 09:36 PM This is great. I consider this the best regular season stuff I've ever seen as a Devils fan,

LONG LIVE THE DIVISION CHAMPS!!
Guy Legend 06-09-2006, 09:43 PM Wow, what a great way to get through the summer with hockey. After the finals are over, I won't see another hockey game until opening night next season (not to mention I haven't been able to watch most of the playoffs without OLN).
Colin Whites Eye 06-09-2006, 10:08 PM wow thats pretty sweet! ill have catch some of those
Easton 06-09-2006, 10:20 PM HELL YES!!! I'll be taping every game!
DevilsFan38 06-09-2006, 10:24 PM Sweet, I was wondering how I was going to fulfill my hockey fix.
Jared Ramsden 06-09-2006, 11:17 PM HELL YES!!! I'll be taping every game!
I need a satellite!!!! ....lol
Easton 06-09-2006, 11:22 PM Haha, I just noticed Ozolinsh in the background of the pic on the Devils website.
They need to get some new mouthguards next season. Those half red, half white ones look goofy.

I think only Patty uses those because of the Czech flag.
Devilsfanatic 06-10-2006, 11:45 AM The Ottawa one rules Gomez's 10 minute shootout nailbiter and Madden's hilarious SHG when he lifted Alfies stick. In my opinion the most exciting of the bunch.
David Puddy 06-10-2006, 01:41 PM I especially like the fact that they will show all four games of "The Sweep" against the Rangers. It will get me psyched for training camp.
The Ottawa one rules Gomez's 10 minute shootout nailbiter and Madden's hilarious SHG when he lifted Alfies stick. In my opinion the most exciting of the bunch.I go with the Montreal Atlantic Division Championship clincher. It reminded me of my childhood watching John MacLean beat Darren Pang to send the Devils to the playoffs for the first time. But that Ottawa game was great.

I second it. As I was out of the region in 1988, this is the most exciting regular season game I ever saw. And the run ... the streak as FSNY has deemed it, will be one of my Devils highlights forever. Can't wait to see them raise that banner, I would guess no division banner can ever mean that much to me again. I'm proudly wearing my division championship shirt today, even though in the Devs' eyes it's far short of the ultimate goal. Do what they did ... well I'm still knocked out.
Easton 06-29-2006, 04:26 PM Tonight!
Can you believe this is how it all started?
devsjunkie 06-29-2006, 04:42 PM It's a great way to start it off. There were a lot of high-quality teams taken down during the run.
Brooklyndevil 06-29-2006, 05:33 PM Awesome news. Get to watch some Devils hockey and I know they aren't going to lose. Thanks!
DevilsFan38 06-29-2006, 08:15 PM I've had this marked on my calender since they announced it. This is awesome, I've been needing a hockey fix! (cause calculating salary cap numbers which make my head hurt doesn't count as hockey)

I agree, which is why you don't see me on most of those threads - which is probably for the best.
BOOO, Langenbrunner gets called on an slash. I hope NJ pulls a win out of this one ;)
DevilsFan38 06-29-2006, 09:27 PM What a goal by Madden! ;)
This was one of my favorite goals of the year :biglaugh:
Brooklyndevil 06-29-2006, 09:37 PM I forgot why I love Jannsen, then the McGratton fight reminded me.
DevilsFan38 06-29-2006, 11:01 PM Devils win, woohoo! I love shootouts, I don't care what some people say, they're great entertainment.
Easton 06-29-2006, 11:29 PM Wow, I don't remember this game being that exciting. Both teams had tons of scoring chances.
crashlanding 06-29-2006, 11:33 PM I remember Heatley saying after the game, about the laser that Brodeur gloved out of the air near the end of overtime that he didn't get all of it. :)
Also Brodeur and Gio gave Gomez some ribbing about his amazing move on the shootout goal.
Easton 06-29-2006, 11:51 PM Was this the game where one of the refs was caught on cam for saying, "last time this happened it turned out to be a big **** up."
David Puddy 06-30-2006, 12:23 AM I forgot about the replays. While I was watching the Red Sox and Mets game, I saw a promotion for an interview with Gary Bettman. I was wondering how things would have been if the Devils had gone to SNY from FSN-NY. I was wondering if they would have shown classic games. That made me wonder when "The Streak" was going to start, so I flipped over to FSN and saw the Devils.
It really was great to see the Devils and hear Doc and Chico. I can't wait until camp opens and then the season starts, Patrik Elias or no Patrik Elias.
DevilsFan38 07-06-2006, 11:59 AM Don't miss game 2, Sabres at Devils, which is on tonight. And don't be late, or you'll miss the first goal.
I love watching the Devils win.
DevilsFan38 07-20-2006, 01:29 PM Just another reminder, for those out there who are missing hockey as much as I am. Game 4 is tonight (8-10 on FSNY), Devils at Penguins, which features a thrilling come-from-behind overtime win :)

I'll be entertaining a Pens fan tonight. Perhaps we should watch this game. I know I'll be entertained. :)
David Puddy 07-21-2006, 12:59 AM I should point out that FSN NY has a second showing of these games the following day at noon.
I'll be entertaining a Pens fan tonight. Perhaps we should watch this game. I know I'll be entertained. :)I forgot what a great game that Crosby had. Your friend would have liked that. Sid had a goal and an assist. However, he was stoned by Marty Brodeur late in the contest on a breakaway. Elias tied things up shortly afterward, and Gionta blasted a shot up high in OT for the win. It was a great game.
crashlanding 07-21-2006, 01:11 AM Watching those two shots at the empty net go just wide made me sweat a bit.
David Puddy 07-21-2006, 01:17 AM Watching those two shots at the empty net go just wide made me sweat a bit.It was Malone on at least one of them, maybe both. They were both about three or four feet away from making it a two-goal Pittsbrugh advantage.
Easton 07-27-2006, 02:34 PM If you want to get your mind off of this crazy off-season and just want to see some Devils hockey, watch the game tonight.
David Puddy 07-27-2006, 03:29 PM watch the game tonight. The Devils came back to defeat the Penguins on the road in OT in a game from April 2 on the last installment of "The Streak." The Devils host the Penguins in tonight's offering in a game from April 5.
devsjunkie 07-28-2006, 03:10 PM The game that changed Gomer's natural smile... of course he's still smiling through the blood on the bench.
There was a lot of good kharma this year like in this game. Gomer got his tooth knocked out by Cairns, but Parise's shot, but then the puck goes right in off of Cairns. And later in the game Gomer lasers a goal of his own.
And of course it was a Hatrik game!
crashlanding 08-10-2006, 09:04 PM NJ - NYR at CAA on FSNY ASAP.
devsjunkie 08-10-2006, 10:48 PM This was such a great win. Gomer's run up the ice was spectacular.
Easton 08-10-2006, 11:25 PM There was a 3-on-1 near the end of the game where Elias had the chance to make it 4-2 but decided to pass it way back behind him to another Devil. That chance could have meant a lot more if the Rangers found a way to tie it up, but thank god for Ozolinsh.

Langenbrunner shot it over the net...what else is new?

Well I believe Elias and Langenbrunner at/near the top of the playoff points stats for the whole league as long as the Devils were in the postseason would be what was newer.

Langenbrunner had 3 goals and 10 assists in the playoffs. The only goal I can think of at the moment was the practically empty netter off of Elias's skate pass.
I love what Jamie brings to the team, but don't try and tell me shot accuracy is one of them.

While I agree his slapshot from the side on the power play isn't accurate - his wrist shot definitely is. When he gets break aways he has a great top shelf wrist shot.

Yeah, I think he was the one to score that go-ahead goal in our last regular season game against Montreal. Can't wait to see that game again.
David Puddy 08-17-2006, 09:46 PM The Devils at Carolina from April 11 is currently on. This was a really exciting game with an incredible finish.
If anyone wants to see the whole game, it will be aired again at noon tomorrow on FSN-NY.
devsjunkie 08-17-2006, 10:26 PM Just how many games against Carolina can Lukowich F up?
He's like some kind of cold front that bolsters oncoming Hurricanes.

I was watching the end of the first and most of the second, and thought he played well. :help:

And then he coughed up the puck and fell down right in front of Marty and they got an easy equalizer.
Gotta be smart the whole game... otherwise the course of a Cup can change in three seconds.

While I agree with you about playing smart the entire game, I also remember Scott Stevens getting pwned by Joe Sakic a few times during the 2001 SCF. It happens. Playing defense is about balancing out the good with the bad (and sometimes the atrocious), and I think Lukowich's good play was more prevalent by far than his bad.

Jamie also scored the nice top shelf wrist shot in the third of last night's game to put the team ahead before Luko gave it back.
Easton 08-18-2006, 03:07 PM The Canes' announcer sounds like a retard and I hate the way he says the players' names. "Robbbbbbbb Brind Amourrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".:banghead:

Comparing Stevens and Lukowich is like comparing apples with raisins. Especially when you throw Sakic in the mix.
But all I was really doing was pointing out that we've suffered a recurring Lukowich pattern last season re: Carolina.
And it makes me laugh... no one bats an eye when Jamie Langenbrunner who has been instrumental in a Cup and recent Devils successes gets picked on, but they do when Brad Lukowich who doesn't quite have the Devils' method down yet does?

We may take shots at Langenbrunner at times, but their given in the context that we all KNOW Jamie is our best RW not named Gionta . . . and maybe our best 2-way winger period. And I wasn't comparing Stevens and Lukowich as players. I was simply pointing out that all defensemen make bone-headed plays. Every single one. If Lukowich would have been deeked out of his jock like Stevens was in 2001, we would crucify him. All I'm saying is Lukowich may make mistakes, but his good plays overshadow his bad, and with Matvichuk all but gone for the season, we'll need him to be his solid self if we are to make it to the trade deadline and get some possible help.

Agreed. Luko lead the team in hits (!), was third in blocked shots (behind White and Matvichuk), got a bunch of assists and worked his butt off, yet Brad normally receives a bunch of grief on these boards. So, I'm happy the folks are finally sticking up for him.
And Langs inability to hit the broad side of the barn with his slapper in no way diminishes the love. He is a prototypical Devils style player that Lou has had his eyes on since he came into the league, and rightly has made him part of the core Devils for many years to come. His clutch playoff goals just seal the deal.

The thing that always amazed me about Lukowich - when the play is scrambly he plays his best - blocks a shot - steals a pass and clears the puc. But when its calm and he has time...:banghead:
