Hey, I was checking this guys stats and saw that the last NHL-team he played on was the ducks? Can someone describe him to me, what I have read is that he is a bit slow, but touch and can fight?
The reason why I want to know is that HV71 in SEL (the team that you got Björn Melin from) just signed him for a year to help out on the defense, we are really lacking a tough defensive d-man, can he be what we are looking for?
That sounds about right, he's not great mind. 6/7th in the NHL at best. He signed with the Sens for last season, must have played in the AHL then. Maybe they could tell you what he's currently like?

As I recall, Lance Ward was acquired with Ozolinsh from Florida. He is generally tough and solid, and has versatility enough to play wing as well as defense.
We generally never got a good look at Ward, though, as he was a scratch more often than a player, and he never really took too much ice time.
I think he could fit your needs, but probably someone who has seen him play more might be able to answer this better.

During his time in Anaheim, it seemed like Ward was mostly used in a 4th-line enforcer role, which probably wasn't the best use of his limited abilities.
For a portion of his time in Florida, Ward was paired with Robert Svehla and did a reasonable enough job as a physical, stay-at-home defenseman. Ultimately, his limited lateral mobility is probably what kept him from holding down a job in the NHL.
While I don't know how he'll do on the bigger ice in the SEL, I suppose he could the sort of defenseman HV71's looking for if they pair him with an above-average skater.

If I recall correctly, he was a relatively high draft pick by Florida.

He wasn't taken high be Florida, but by New Jersey at 10th overall. He then re-entered the draft and was taken by Florida in the thrid round, 63rd over all.
