DevilsFan38 06-01-2006, 11:30 PM I think it's safe to say everyone on this forum is cheering for Edmonton to beat Carolina? ;)
I was hoping for Buffalo to pull it out, but with all their injuries getting to a game 7 was very impressive.
Cloned 06-01-2006, 11:32 PM Can you lend us Patrik Elias for two weeks? ;)
DevilsFan38 06-01-2006, 11:34 PM Can you lend us Patrik Elias for two weeks? ;)
If I had the power, he'd be getting on a flight right now ;)
Devilsfanatic 06-01-2006, 11:36 PM The Oilers NEED to win this for me. One of my liked teams destroying my new hated team. I hate the Canes more than any other team out there.
Jamie1 06-01-2006, 11:39 PM Can you lend us Patrik Elias for two weeks? ;)
Sure. We'll throw in anybody else you want also.
Randal Graves 06-01-2006, 11:39 PM Well, it took all they way to the Finals before I can cheer for Edmonton. I really wanted to see Buffalo win it. Carolina on the other hand has beaten 3 of the teams I like the most.. ********.
Go Oilers. Don't ******* it up.
Cloned 06-01-2006, 11:45 PM Sure. We'll throw in anybody else you want also.
Ah, if only the NHL and GMs were as easygoing and accomodating as posters of HFBoards.com. :)
devsfan8 06-01-2006, 11:48 PM Go MEN OF OIL!!!! the 8th seeded wonders
Beat the Canes and win the Cup for Canada, the NHL and Devils fans!!!!

David Puddy 06-01-2006, 11:57 PM I don't have a horse in the race. Good luck to both teams. Carolina/Hartford has never won the Stanley Cup, and Edmonton hasn't won it in a decade and a half. They are both fine organizations, and they did it right this year.
I'm glad Scott Niedermayer will never win a Stanley Cup in Anaheim, neither will his brother, Beaver Niedermayer, and Ma Niedermayer will never see her two boys win the Cup together.

Mike Commodore couldnt hold Cam Janssen's pockets.
rat_riot97 06-02-2006, 12:59 AM I'm fed up with that rediculous puck over the glass penalty. It was only a matter of time until it cost a team a trip to the stanley cup. Even if it had been the other way around, I still wouldn't have been happy with the goal, but admittedly a little lessed disgruntled due to the outcome of the series.
TEAR 'EM A NEW ONE EDMONTON!
Jared Ramsden 06-02-2006, 02:14 AM ughhhh....as a New Jersey fan living in Calgary, this is the worst possible Stanley Cup final ever...lol....do I cheer for the team that knocked out the Devils or the chief rival of the Flames, the Oilers?...i pick that I cheer for Justin Williams and Jaroslav Spacek so I can win my hockey pool! :D
borrachon 06-02-2006, 03:43 AM Go Oilers! Beat the Southern Leafs!
David Puddy 06-02-2006, 04:52 AM You people do realize that the Carolina Hurricanes are now the parent club of the AHL's Albany River Rats.
Captain Lou 06-02-2006, 09:16 AM I don't want to sound petty but I really hate Carolina. Laviolette is a whining baby and they dive all over the place. It's not even that I think they suck, or that they were not better than us. I just hate the way they play the game, as a Devil fan it is such a departure from the way that our team goes about its business. Also, did anyone see that NEUTRAL ZONE TRAP those hypocrites were playing in the 3rd period?
On the other side, I remember MacTavish on the '94 Ranger team and he was also on the '95 Flyers and I ********** hated him with a passion then and I still do now.
I don't know who to root for. :help:

HBK27 06-02-2006, 10:54 AM Go Oilers!
I'd really like to see them win it - would be good to see players like Pronger and Peca get a Cup.
I really can't stand the Canes. Brind'Amour really needs to start wearing a full face shield - at least when he's being interviewed. Damn, that man is ugly...he's just painful to look at. Plus, I get ******-chills everytime I hear the phrase "Caniacs". Ugh...do fans really needs to give themselves a 'wacky' nickname? There really is no need for that.
I hope Edmonton destroys them, but I'll say Oilers in 6.

devsfan8 06-05-2006, 11:36 PM This is one hell of a tremendous Game 1.
Back and forth.
Way to bury it Hemsky.
Devilsfanatic 06-05-2006, 11:39 PM Way to hurt Roloson. The Canes are classless.
devsfan8 06-05-2006, 11:53 PM Way to hurt Roloson. The Canes are classless.
It is like they knew Conklin was stupid enough to leave the crease and go behind the net to get the puck. :shakehead
Freakin Canes
EDIT: And Ward who was still standing tall makes a brilliant save with seconds left. One ofthe few times I can say a team can battle back from behind and STILL NOT deserve to win a game like the Canes.
ratsgirl 06-05-2006, 11:55 PM what a crazy game.
David Puddy 06-05-2006, 11:58 PM what a crazy game.No kidding. It should be a good series.

devsfan8 06-06-2006, 12:35 AM I think we could really use Brodeur right about now.
I think you could use Trevor Kidd right now. Conklin is brutal.
Oilers need to play trap hockey BIG TIME. Not allow the Canes to get many chances which is hard with their speed.
Cloned 06-06-2006, 01:56 AM Can you lend us Patrik Elias for two weeks? ;)
Well it looks like I asked for the wrong star Devil player.
Devilsfanatic 06-06-2006, 09:47 AM This is ridiculous I hate the Canes with a passion. They knew damn well to charge the net that hard in hopes they'd run over Rollie and hurt him. F the Canes, F Cam Ward and F god for HANDING them the Stanley Cup. Benefits of all the right calls, and injuries have just given them the Cup. Handed on a ****ing platter. I am so incensed that a ****** bag son of a ***** like Laviolette is going to raise the cup.
matty95-00-03 06-06-2006, 10:28 AM I knew it was only a matter of time until the Canes knocked a goalie out by charging the net!! And that winning goal.....have you ever seen a team get so lucky???? Yes, I noticed the Canes play the trap....how come when the Devils played it in the "old" NHL (when defense ruled) we were ripped over and over..but now the Canes play it in the "New" (offense first) NHL and I have not heard the word "Trap" once!! And Brinda-GIRL is classless. I could not believe that after they beat Buffalo he had to take a cheap shot (during past game interview) instead of just being happy with the win and saying something nice about the opponent. Go Oilers!!
David Puddy 06-06-2006, 02:19 PM Did you guys watch the play? Ladd was cutting to his right and would have easily avoided Roloson, but Bergeron knocked Ladd into Roloson.
Hemsky's game-tying goal was closer to running the goalie than Ladd's play by long shot, and Hemsky's play was clean because he leaped over Ward.

It's easier to blame Ladd and be mad (whoa that rhymes) at the Canes.

He said how Cam Ward did make some incredible saves in Game 1. The "cardboard goalie" comment was more the Devils fault because they were not able to create much pressure on the rookie goalie.
I can see picking Carolina because Edmonton has followed the path of the recent Cinderella Stories that have seen midnight struck in the Stanley Cup Finals. Calgary last time the NHL played, Anaheim the year before that, Carolina the previous season, Buffalo in 1999, the Caps in 1998, the Flyers in 1997 and the Florida Panthers in 1996. The last time a team that was considered by many "experts" as an underdog won the Stanley Cup was the Devils in 1995.

I like that.
Man it's gonna be tight, but I hope they pull it off. That arena in Carolina is cursed.
Best of luck OILS!
after the devs series, i cannot stand the canes. i see a team who runs goalies and takes dives... consistently. i sincerely hope they do not win the cup.
David Puddy 06-12-2006, 04:31 PM LOL....'canes the "Southern Leafs"...The Oilers are the "Northern Rangers." The 1994 Rangers Stanley Cup Championship team was called the "Southern Oilers" because it was a heavily ex-Oilers roster that brought the Rangers their first Cup since 1940. Those players included Mark Messier, Esa Tikkanen, Glenn Anderson, Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish among others.
Their good buddy Glenn Sather allowed the Edmonton Oilers to use the Rangers practice facility in Tarrytown, NY for three days prior to Game 1. The Oilers went on to drop the first two games of the Finals to improve the record of teams in the playoffs this year after practicing there to 0-6.
devsfan8 06-14-2006, 10:01 PM Edmonton is hangin in there.. Some luck and some working for it.
They now have the lead and are finally pressuring Cam "Lucky" Ward
they win tonight it goes 7.

crashlanding 06-15-2006, 12:26 AM This series is everything the NHL could have hoped for, I have been on the edge of my seat for the entirety of four of the five games. I don't care who eventually comes out on top I just want to see this one go seven.

I could never root for a team with players like that.

Well, thanks Dave..
The first part I knew, the second I didn't...
I still hope the Oils win. Man are they hangin on and taking it to it. I wish I could follow it more closely.
Carolina just doesn't sit well with me, they never did. Diving, their coach...It isn't nostalgia that I prefer the Oils or bitterness over Carolina, just one of those things.
I have seen them as an underdog team for some time, and they have big heart and great fans..
This explains partially why I am a Devil's fan I suppose.
Jealous of those who can see it all, sounds great.
Have a great summer. ciao bub
PS: Oh, regarding your first post on the page. You definitely speak my language. I hate the "experts". They are everywhere, from art to sports...no difference.

I love this part of the story,The facility... features an 1,800-sqare-foot, state-of-the-art weight room next to the locker room. There is also a well-appointed lounge with a pool table, pingpong table, refreshment center and high-definition television.
"You could get spoiled here, that's for sure," forward Ryan Smyth said Friday. "It's got everything you need. We're very fortunate. It's what we needed right now, at this time."
devsfan8 06-19-2006, 11:33 PM They need to build a statue outside of Rexall Place for Fernando Pisani. He is really clutch for edmonton and has come through in a big way. Edmonton is still in this game because of him and the turning point of this series was his OT goal in game 5.
Easton 06-20-2006, 12:17 AM Brind'Amour did it again.
After the empty-netter, there was a faceoff between Brind'Amour and Peca with 50 seconds left. Peca won the faceoff so cleanly the puck went to his blue line. JD let out a big "Wah-oh"
Weird how we had a Canadian team and a southeast team in the finals last year and this year as well, with the southeast team winning the cup.
NBC sucks ***. How could they???
Cam Ward is MVP
oh well very dissapointed in the outcome. oilers to me were the classier team, and i am sad to see the canes win it. oh well.

Remember that every single Carolina Hurricane sat on the bench during the Scott Stevens number retirement ceremony and banged their sticks on the boards. Very respectful and classy if you ask me.

They did that to a gut who took out Francis, their captain at the time, too. Great observation.
BTW, though I was plenty upset with Stevens throughout his career, was glad to see him honored like that, he was awesome!

that class did not show in the playoffs in my opinion. i saw a lot of diving and goalie running. thats a pet peeve of mine. oh well free agent time.
