CronoX 05-26-2006, 04:47 PM What do you think are the chances Bergfors plays in the NHL next year? I doubt he'll make it out of camp, but do you think he might get picked up before the All-Star game or the trade deadline and ride out the rest of the season on NJ?
Feed Me A Stray Cat 05-26-2006, 04:55 PM It's tough to say. He is only 19, but he was very good in the second half of 05-06 with the Rats. He also really impressed in the 2005 training camp.
Also have to remember that the Devils won't have a lot of money after giving raises to Elias, Gomez, and Gionta. I think if Bergfors has another good camp, he will get some serious consideration for making the team.
DevilsFan38 05-26-2006, 05:10 PM I've never seen him play, but from what I've heard I would imagine at the very least he'll see some action as a call-up at some point in the season.
As Nittel16 said, depending on how he plays in camp and our cap situation, there is a chance he could make the team.

I think if Bergfors has another good camp, he will get some serious consideration for making the team.I think his lower salary could help his cause greatly. Bergfors could be given a shot at second-line right wing.
devsjunkie 05-27-2006, 12:33 PM How much room do we really have for a Bergfors or for any of these prospects? There would have to be some dealing or free agents that we really need back not coming back, it seems.
Second-line center is obviously a hole. I'd like to give Tallackson some time, flank him with Parise and Bergfors and give that a go. I guess it will depend on who comes in to coach. We currently always seem to go more status quo when possible.

Bergfors-Tallackson-Parise. Good idea.

Well, their natural positions would make them Tallackson - Parise - Bergfors, but whatever. That would still be a formidable line.
John Druce 05-29-2006, 01:20 PM He amazes me. I honestly think he'll be a top-flight winger soon. Dave Conte, in the recent THN Draft Preview, said "I think Bergfors will be a very good NHL'er". Can he play in the NHL next year? Yes. Can he thrive? Probably not. Should he play? I say no...give him another year in the AHL
DownFromNJ 05-29-2006, 02:22 PM The more that Elias costs to resign, the more likely that one of Bergfors or Zajac (with an outside shot for Tallackson) will contribute on the top-2 lines this season.
It will come down to whomever is better in training camp I think. Or what position needs to be filled. Finding a good RW to back up Gionta could be a problem for Lou, so Bergfors might find himself in the lineup.

Agree.

Radek Dvorak is UFA and might be a good fit. He's big skates real well and has some skill. Someone for Lou to consider.

Can also play some solid defense and either LW/RW, so he has some versatility in the lineup.
Brooklyndevil 05-29-2006, 08:40 PM 2nd tier guys might be the way to go for the Devils. They might be able to add a couple of forwards and maybe a defensemen. Let other teams go to war over the top UFA's.

This is true unless Patrik Elias does not resign with the Devils. If he is gone then we need to explore a big time forward any way possible trade or free agency. I would even go as far as offering an RFA to an offer sheet.
Americans 06-01-2006, 08:51 AM I hope Bergfors train good in the summer-training. Bergfors might find himself in the lineup. I hope so. I want to see him with the big guys. :)
Brooklyndevil 06-01-2006, 11:42 AM I hope he does make it, we can use him if he's ready. And I believe the kid from Boston, Bergeron made the team has a 19 year old and if I'm not mistaken Gomez did as well for the Devils.
jerseydevil 06-01-2006, 11:51 AM How long have you guys been Devil fans???? If the answer is "a long time"...we all know how this is going to work out...
A. Patrik Elias will sign somewhere else for big bucks
B. We will sign 2 or 3 guys that we all question
C. Everyone will question Lou
D. We will play 2 or 3 rookies that will impress us all
E. The team will win the Atlantic next year
This is the life of Devil fan.

The "A' scenario would have made more sense when Puck Holdings or McMullen were dishin the funds to Lou. Vanderbeek spend millions to upgrade a locker room in the CAA when the team is gone next season from there, offered NIedermayer max salary, signed Malakhov, McGillis and Mogilny to sickening contracts.
He has proven he will spend the money to retain a player he thinks will help. Elias will be offered what NIedermayer was and there is no other incentive after that for Patty to go elsewhere. JMO.
The "B and C" scenario is what makes me question if people are truly Devil fans as long as they have been. Why would anybody ever second guess Lou Lamoriello in the long run or based on the big picture?
The "D' scenario is possible in reference to Tallackson and Ryznar since they will be the only rookies that make the team out of camp and remain Devils the entire season.
The "E" scenario....always realistic for the Devils.

We'll see how it works itself out...but I think Andy Greene will make the team as well
