Ahonen Gone?

I was just going through the transactions on the hockey news website http://www.forecaster.ca/hockeynews/hockey/_k7z6y6mp3ten/movements.cgi?NHL&x_option=21 and saw that he signed with Blues Espoo of the SM-Liiga (Finland)

Did we miss the boat on this guy, why didn't lou at least try to get anything out of him, I'm upset he didn't atleast get one game in Jersey,

and I don't blame him for leaving, he was treated badly, no way do you take him first round and sit him in Albany all that time to get shelled and not atleast give a 5 game trial to see what he can do with a good team.

I haven't been to that many Rats games in the past few years, maybe 10 and Ahonen never looked good to me. If he was as good as everyone felt he would have won the job over Clemmer or garnered interest from another NHL team. I think his inability to do either reflects on himself and not on the Devils mistreatment of him.

I thought he was going back to Finland?

I just feel that if he was given an opportunity to be on a team that had chance, he always played well for the national team, he would've at least been compitent

If he was coveted by an NHL, a team would have offered the Devils something for him.

If he was treated badly, it was because he played badly.

I went to a Rats' game last year.
The Rats lost, but I remember two things clearly:
One that was Janssen wanted to fight everyone and you could see Skrlac just begging with Ftorek to "go out and play".
The other thing was Rats fans serenading Ahonen with "Arrrrreeeee....Arrrrreeeee - You Suck!"
I've seen fans do that to the opposing goalie, but not their own.
Guess the guy sucked.
