This is a real tough one for Randy Carlyle, who does he start for Game 5 in Anaheim?
Giggy was very shaky in tonights game despite the win. He was letting out huge rebounds, and looked scary (In a bad Way) In Net. He over comitted on Laraques goal as Laraque only had Giggy to beat, and he easily dangled the puck around him. But can you switch goalies in such an important game 5, when the goalie of last nights game came out with a win?
As for Bryzgalov he hasn't looked sharp all series long either, but has looked better than Giggy none the less. The reason holding Carlyle back from going with Ilya would be the Giggy factor, on how he won.
It doesn't appear like either goalie really deserves to start Game 5, It will be an interesting descision just like game 4.
I personally think Randy will go with Bryzgalov.

I think Bryz should get the nod, but based on the way those situations have planned out in the past, Jiggy will get the start because he got the win.
LoudmouthHemskyFan#2 05-26-2006, 04:01 AM Oh god, Giggy looked terrible and no offence but anyone that has Laraque score on you shouldn't be playing. 2 goals this year, one the defenceman put in his own net, the other bounced on his stick with an empty net. IMO if Bryz was in net tonight this was a 6-1 game.
P.S. Please keep Giggy in...This ducks team scares me.
TheJoeMan 05-26-2006, 04:39 AM If you notices on Lararques Jiggy was playing the point shot and Laraque was all by himself, he shouldn't have been so open. That first one was just a perfect shot and the second goal was a total screen. I agree Jiggy didn't look great but he made big saves when we needed them and got the win. I don't see why Carlyle would change a thing. Jiggy has one big games in the playoff games and we have no room for error.
Pwnasaurus 05-26-2006, 10:08 AM Giguere had no chance on the Laraque goal. You give me 30 seconds all alone in front of the net and I'll score on a 1971 Ken Dryden.
Snap Wilson 05-26-2006, 10:27 AM Aside from that bad stretch in the second (where the whole team was playing wobbly) I thought Jiggy looked okay. He controlled his rebounds better than he usually does, even made a few tough saves later on.
I'm fine with either one starting. Whether we win or lose will depend on how the team plays in front of them.
Waterboy 05-26-2006, 12:28 PM I agree PLEASE leave Giggy in. Please?
missinthejets 05-26-2006, 01:19 PM Doesn't matter who the ducks play, neither one looked any better than the other. I wouldn't have made the switch in the first place, but whatever, Difference in this game was that the ducks actually went to the front of the net effectively in the first period and scored some goals as a result.
OilerNut 05-26-2006, 01:53 PM If I were you guys I wouldn't change goalies after you just won a big game.
Kick Save 05-26-2006, 02:08 PM I'm the guy who opposed changing goalies prior to Game 3 (after two so-so performances by Brzygalov). After game 3, I felt it was a toss-up: Ilya wasn't very sharp in Game 3, but Jiggy didn't do much to distinguish himself in the games he played against the Flames in Round One.
Right now, I lean towards starting Giguere in Game 5. He was far from spectacular last night, but he did weather the storm during the onslaught in the Second Period making several key saves.
In Jiggy's defense, he hadn't played in a month. It's natural that he was a little rusty.
The bottom line for me: start Jiggy, but if he gives up a couple of "soft" goals early---or at any critical juncture of the game---bring in Bryz ASAP. Obviously, there's no margin of error.
soya_sauce_chicken 05-26-2006, 02:21 PM I for one have been preaching Bryz since the start of the playoffs.. but right now I say put Jiggy in net on saturday..
remember, he hasn't played in about 8 games.. so of course he would be rusty...
i would give him the chance and start him..
Osprey 05-26-2006, 03:41 PM This is a real tough one for Randy Carlyle, who does he start for Game 5 in Anaheim? How is this "real tough"? You go with the guy who won you the last game. This should be a pretty simple decision for Carlyle. Unless there's a medical excuse, expect Giguere in net, as it should be.
Pwnasaurus 05-26-2006, 03:51 PM Giguere was king of the rebound last night for the most part...which concerned me a bit. However, I expect with a game under his belt he'll kick it up a notch like Emeril in Game 5. If not I'll be irritable...and no one likes an irritable almost 30 yr man.
puckdad 05-26-2006, 05:41 PM They have to leave Giggy in. He looked a little out of sorts at first but just got better as the game progressed. He made some great saves in the third. I think that the team played with more confidence with Giggy in net. Don't underestimate the importance of the players mindset going in, the players believe in him. We won! Don't fix what ain't broke.
sammyp 05-26-2006, 09:00 PM If RC put Bryz back in, what would be the point in having Jiggy start game four?
Giguere will be in net, I am positive.
McDonald19 05-26-2006, 09:43 PM Giguere had no chance on the Laraque goal. You give me 30 seconds all alone in front of the net and I'll score on a 1971 Ken Dryden.
Most goalies would have attempted a save. Giguere just doesn't have the athletic side to side movement right now that Bryz has.
McDonald19 05-26-2006, 09:44 PM Giguere will be in net...but thats not necessarily a good thing. I hope he surprises me and has a great game.
