Roloson spends a lot of time talking to the refs. In Anaheim he had discussions during almost every TV time out and seemed to be complaining, gesturing a lot and shrugging/pointing. I've seen this body language and lobbying from a lot of goaltenders, but he does it a LOT.
Bryz, on the other hand, doesn't talk to the officials at all. Whether it's because his English isn't good enough or it's part of his "happy go lucky" demeanor, I don't think I've ever seen him say one thing.
Does this lack of "lobbying" the officials have any impact on all? Bryz is never saying, "Hey these guys keep crashing the net," or "You need to pay more attention to this," or "Come on guys you're missing calls" -- or whatever goaltenders say to get into the head of the officials.
Whether or not this kind of "relationship" helps a goaltender, I don't know. I do know that a lot of veterans do have lengthy talks with the officials and voice their concerns or schmooz or do whatever they do, and Bryz does none of that.
Any thoughts?
