matty95-00-03 05-24-2006, 05:14 PM A Devils fan here keeping an eye on our old boy Nieder and caught most of that crazy third period last night. I thought an Oiler was clearly in the crease on that Staois goal and was surprised that the Ducks did not argue that. The Edmonton player was not pushed in and there seemed to be some contact when Bryzgalov came across the crease to make the save. Did I not see this correctly? Good luck to you the rest of the way!
caliamad 05-24-2006, 05:21 PM The coach brought it up in the post game conference, but thats it. He also complained about the Selanne call.

You have a keen eye. You are correct. BTW, Scott Niedermayer is the best thing that ever happened to the Ducks. You have to watch him day-in-and-day-out to truly appreciate his talent. I'm sure the Devils, and Devils fans, miss him.

I was even wonder about it too. Cole and Neal missed it completely on CBC (they are still trying to figure out who is who on both teams, if they call Spacek Staios again, or Beachemin Neidermayer I'm going to throw the remote through the TV!), never even mentioned it, but Pisani was steared into the rease by the defenseman but he didn't try to get out of the way...the way they were calling the last two series for the Oil I'm surprised they didn't waive it off...then again they called Marchants bicycle kick to the top corner, that was clearly in, a no-goal too...so who knows what they were watching (no there was not a kicking motion, before you jump on that, it was a lucky deflection).
Bryzy had no chance with or without Pisani in the crease, which I guess makes it that much worse, since it could have been called off.
I'm assuming everyone on the ice was still watching Samsonov...that pass was money!
Good luck tomorrow night folks, I wish I could say your going to need it...but I think its the Oil that will need the bounces again.
ThisYearsModel 05-24-2006, 07:11 PM Scott is really a tremendous player. Of course Pisani was in the crease. I guess that the 2 pairs of eyes that were able to see the so-called "holding" on Selanne could not see a 6'2 forward in a blue uniform standing with both feet in the paint while the goalie was trying to stop the puck.
Wolfpack 05-24-2006, 07:13 PM Yes, Pisani nudged the goalie on the Staios goal, but Marchant kicked-in his goal, so I guess things evened themselves out.
BTW, no way Bryzgalov would have saved that shot anyway, he was way out of position.
Kung Pow 05-24-2006, 07:17 PM I noticed it too, and was quite concerned. But, Thank goodness they didn't complain.

Hmm, I don't believe that Marchant kicked his in. :)
Waterboy 05-24-2006, 07:29 PM There was no call because Bryzy gave up on the play. If he had tried to make that save and bowled through Pisani then they would have HAD to see it and make the call...but nobody, the Ducks included said anything about it either. Strange that Carlyle (sp?) would bring it up after the game...but say nothing and stay calm on the bench when it happened.
Marchant didn't even see the puck until after it hit his skate, there was no kick.

True. Roloson would have fallen down, with his mask flying off, like he was shot ftom the grassy knoll. Bryzgalov should have gone ballistic.

Bitter? Rolliewould have SHAKEN off his mask, then complained to the refs about the crease crashers. :sarcasm:
Of course, the way he's playing, Rollie would have made the save with the guy their anyway...so its a moot argument either way. ;)

True, if we're talking about the Roloson we saw in the first eight periods of this series. But he looked awfully human in the third period yesterday.
BTW, do you feel isolated living in Yellow Knife? If my geography is correct, you're quite a ways from any major city.

Or how about Marchant pushing Pronger on Roli that started the line brawl in the first....that is obvious intent to injure Roli and not trying to just get him off his game :shakehead

Yellowknife's alright. SMall (20,000) and a little isolated, yes. It takes 14 hours to get to Edmonton by car (you have to cross the MacKenzie river on a ferry that is out of service due to ice flow twice a year for about 2 weeks...that is when you really feel isolated) or you can fly (1.5 flight) for unbelievably high amounts. Yellowknife to Edmonton return right now? $1200.00! I know.
I like it up here though and a 14 hour car ride isn't as bad as it sounds when you do it 3 or 4 times a year for 30 years.
Good luck tonight guys...

Wow! That's a pretty pricey airfare. You in the mining business by any chance?
If you ever get to Southern California and you give me a reasonable amount of advance notice, I'll buy you a ticket to a Ducks game.
