changw 05-24-2006, 12:09 AM Hey guys,
Just got a question..
Would the Ducks trade Lupul for Ruutu?
Ruutu is quickly getting a reputation as injury prone and theres been talks of retiremoent on the Blackhawks forums but he's touted as a franchise forward with Forsberg-esque talent. Lupul's been inconsistent accordign to some of the posters here..

Bobby Ryan Getzlaf 05-24-2006, 12:11 AM Not a chance in hell. Ruutu could end up being better than Lupul, but, there's no way I'd ever trade anything of value for Ruutu unless I knew he was even returning to the NHL next season.
Cerebral 05-24-2006, 12:29 AM That's a trade that I would make any day of the week if Ruutu was healthy. Unfortunately, he's a walking IR advertisement and the Ducks would be far better off sticking with a proven goal scorer with very few injury problems.
Ruutu has the potential to be a dominant two-way centreman similar to Forsberg but I think injuries will prevent him from coming close to filling his massive potential.
misfit 05-24-2006, 01:55 AM Why would the Ducks do this? There's no guarantee Ruutu would become a better player than Lupul if he was healthy...and he isn't healthy.
Pepper 05-24-2006, 02:00 AM Let's remember that the 2 major injuries Ruutu has had were results of 1) major cheapshot and 2) freak incident.
The label of injury-prone is one of those HF myths which is spread around by people who don't really know the player.
Fan.At 05-24-2006, 02:09 AM Ruutu recently said in an interview that he is considering retirement because of all his injuries.

It was right after the bronze game in WCH, Jarkko Ruutu later said it was probably just frustration from Tuomo's part and most likely he will continue playing.

I hope he does. Would be a shame if a hockey player of this quality would have to quit at the age of 23.
But it shows his anger about how the last few years went for him...
cheesymc 05-25-2006, 12:13 AM I'd trade Chistov and Marchant for Rutuu. That way Rutuu can center the Lupol and Penner line next year and keep the Perry/Getz/Fridge line intact.
Melin can replace Heddy and Moen and Zenon can be the role players...
This is a little off topic, but what could we get for Marchant?

His contract makes him tough to move. I don't doubt Burke though. I think he can find a way to trade him, plus his play in the postseason should raise his value.

I am a Lupul fan(although not right now) and I think he will get 30g a year

Well...it's a gamble...we could actually give away the 2 for nothing. Include a 3rd round pick, and I'm in

He's a bargain at $3,000/yr for sure...I think he will probably get more though.

I'm sure you would.
I'm also sure Chicago wouldn't.

I don't think so anymore... after seeing what Ricards got (and the trend continues). I think 2.5 million for an experience checking center isn't as bad as I originally thought.
TheJoeMan 05-25-2006, 11:02 PM Without Lupul this squad would be phoning in their tee times right now. You don't trade one of your best young players for someone who has barely played in this league.
