SharksDownUnder 05-22-2006, 04:12 AM I have only got to see him a limited amount of times, and was wondering what kind of player his is comparative to? Mini-me on skates.... Heart is bigger than Fleury.... well maybe not. jerseydevil 05-22-2006, 09:19 AM I have only got to see him a limited amount of times, and was wondering what kind of player his is comparative to? I see a Mark recchi type of player in Zach Parise..thinks pass first, can chip in around the net and is a quick skater...I see a very nice upside to Zach in the coming years Lars 05-22-2006, 07:42 PM I was thinking Brendan Morrison, but then Does Parise have the Defensive Game? JimEIV 05-22-2006, 08:14 PM I was thinking Brendan Morrison, but then Does Parise have the Defensive Game? Way more fiesty in the corners and more willing to hit. His Defense needs work DevilsFan38 05-22-2006, 08:27 PM Way more fiesty in the corners and more willing to hit. His Defense needs work His defense isn't bad, just isn't quite up to the Devils' standards yet. And I LOVED Parise's play in the playoffs, he seemed to have much more of a physical game than he had earlier in the season and his work along the boards was much improved. Brooklyndevil 05-22-2006, 09:25 PM I see a Mark recchi type of player in Zach Parise..thinks pass first, can chip in around the net and is a quick skater...I see a very nice upside to Zach in the coming years Mark Recchi? Not bad at all. I think we can all live with a young Recchi for the next several years. Feed Me A Stray Cat 05-22-2006, 09:50 PM I was thinking Brendan Morrison, but then Does Parise have the Defensive Game? Yeah, he does. It's a matter of adjusting to the NHL right now. Like JimEIV said, he is a bit more feisty and lays more checks. I would put his offensive potential higher than Morrison as well. JimEIV 05-22-2006, 10:39 PM Yeah, he does. It's a matter of adjusting to the NHL right now. Like JimEIV said, he is a bit more feisty and lays more checks. I would put his offensive potential higher than Morrison as well. On offensive potential: Morrison showed A LOT more in his rookie season........But Morrison had 4 full years in college and a full season in albany. His season in Albany was awesome 1997-98 Albany AHL 72 35 49 84 +11 and he had a great start in NJ 1997-98 New Jersey NHL 11 5 4 9 +3 1998-99 New Jersey NHL 76 13 33 46 -4 Morrison did have more time to develope but I'm not sure I would say Parise has a higher upside offensively Unthinkable 05-22-2006, 10:47 PM Looking forward to year two from Parise after he's worked on developing more upper body strength in the weight room. The desire was never a question in year one. David Puddy 05-22-2006, 11:22 PM Zach Parise has a great work ethic. He will work on all aspects of his game to improve himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he was moved back to center next season. His defense isn't bad, just isn't quite up to the Devils' standards yet. And I LOVED Parise's play in the playoffs, he seemed to have much more of a physical game than he had earlier in the season and his work along the boards was much improved. On one of the Hockey Night New York broadcasts after a playoff game, Parise said how everyone finishes every check in the playoffs when asked about what is diffent about the playoffs and the regular season. Turd Ferguson 05-24-2006, 04:19 PM IMO a good comparison would be a poor mans crosby. Hes quick, strong on his skates, feisty, has great vision, and is a hard worker. He will be able to do everything at a very high level which will make him a first liner for years. David Puddy 05-24-2006, 04:40 PM IMO a good comparison would be a poor mans crosby. I think that that is a very good comparison. devsfan8 05-24-2006, 05:08 PM Many compared him to Neil Broten through out the season. I still see a lot of Broten in Parise. Americans 05-24-2006, 05:29 PM what kind of player is Bergfors comparative to? Jason MacIsaac 05-24-2006, 11:28 PM I want to see him with a little more upper body strength. I think, and hope he develops into a Doug Gilmour type player. The hockey sense and competitive factors are definatly there. Maybe we can start calling him Killer also :) Blackjack 05-25-2006, 02:23 AM what kind of player is Bergfors comparative to? Disclaimer: I've only seen Bergfors play once. He is very fast, and does everything at high speed. His frame is small, and it is not difficult to knock him off the puck, but he is in no way soft. Honestly, the aggresive manner that he goes into corners is almost frightening to watch. My greatest fear is that he will skate through the neutral zone with his head down someday and meet the end of his career. If I had to compare his style, I would say Afinogenov. Wow that is pretty lofty. 1414 Career points wouldn't be bad :) Can you change your avatar..........It really disturbs me. What happen to the Zajac Avatar that one was much more pleasant. :) Jason MacIsaac 05-25-2006, 01:20 PM Gilmour?
