i know that for some odd reason visitors of Latvia drink Aldaris Zelta. maybe it's taste is closer to beer what makes in your country, i dunno. if you ever again come to Latvia i recommend to try Bauskas, Tervetes or Uzavas. Aldaris made good beer like 6-7 years ago, but now it's only bunch of chemical indgredients :shakehead

Weren't drunken Finnish tourists a problem in Riga a few days ago? Drinking MORE beer will not cure that. It's sad, though, because Finns are very intelligent people on the whole, but they have a strange fixation on drinking any alcohol they come across. This transforms them into total morons.

I totally agree with you. Finns are lousy drunks.. They are shy and introverted when sober, so the opposite happens when they get alcohol in their veins. I guess I used to be the same way until I moved to Canada and had my brain re-programmed.

I was in Latvia some years ago and went through Vilnius and Tallinn also. The amount of drunken Finns I saw was ridiculous... They think that coming to those countries is a reason to get plowed and act like morons. But if you ever come to Helsinki for example, you'll see that they act like idiots in their own country when they are drunk as well.. Just some years back on a special occasion called "artists night", all the punks in Helsinki decided to get inubriated and smash the crap out of any window in sight... thousands of dollars damage to their own city. :shakehead

Beer from Canada is great.. It's tasteless, but smooth as a prom queen's thigh...Just not so dangerous;)

A really good beer that I like is from your neigbouring country - Estonia. The beer is called "Saku".

I also like Finnish beer.. Koff, Lapin Kulta, Karjala.. It's all good.

Back to the topic... This should be a very difficult game for us considering the game against Czech Rep. Albeit the 4rd period of that game was good, the game itself was a nightmare. Team Finland has to play A LOT better if they want to win this one. The yanks will not forgive a single mistake. Niittymäki should also improve his game but the defence is what I'm worried about.

I'm hoping this will be a great game and a victorious as well for Team Finland but considering our last game, I'd bet against Team Finland. I'll bet 10 euros for 2-5 final result for Team USA.

The group of Finns refused to pay that 3500eur bill and the owner of the place begin to threat them with knife. One of them used his card and paid and police was also called to the place. They thought that the bill is too high and it is a police matter now. This is what I heard.

There is thousands of Finnish fans in Latvia and ofcourse some of them act stupid when they get "too many". I heard some punk beat bouncer of some club.

I'm concerned that USA will perpetrate ownage on Finland's defense corps, who have looked a bit vulnerable to me in the Czech and Slovenia games. In the offensive end, Tuomo Ruutu's 0+0=0 points, 27 penalty minutes, -1 plus-minus, and one shot on goal isn't pretty. Mikko Koivu's 0+0=0 points, 3 penalty minutes, +1 plus-minus, and a massive three shots on goal is only marginally better. Physical play, schmysical play, these guys need to start producing more than just bruises.

Westerlund speaks of taking less penalties, but barring that, Finland should work on how to survive them. They're 8th in penalty kill with 79 % while USA is 3rd with 90 %. In power play the roles are reversed: Finland is 3rd with 35 % and USA is 10th with 16 %.

On the positive side, Petteri Nummelin, Mikko Lehtonen, and the sublimely skilled Aki Berg have been contributing offensively; Jussi Jokinen is creating chances; Antero Niittymäki has been solid if not spectacular; and the previous period the team played was their best of the tournament.

Defense and goaltending look good so far for the U.S. in this tourney. Scoring does not........... This is going to be a low scoring affair, but I think someone will step up for the U.S. and score the deciding goal. I'll go 3-1 U.S.

By taking 2p today FIN secures
a spot in the QF.

USA has been pretty solid
defensively and ours has been
a bit shaky, so it won't be
easy. But since we've been
more productive forward,
my prediction is 4-2.

A friendly tie is not out of
the question, but I think
we're saving our only loss to
Monday.

Bergenheim is bulldog!

180cm 97kg!

But still the speed!

He's not that heavy. More like 88kg.

Yeah, Tuomo Ruutu is probably closer to being a bulldog...

The sheeps and lions of team Finland today:

3 lions:

-Niittymäki (3+ lions actually), what a game, I'm almost speechless. Fantastic glove hand, good stick-handling, good rebound control, good positioning. He also stoned Stastny on a penalty shot, who would have thunk that. Simply put: aperfect game today, he wasn't even this good in the olympics.
-Bergenheim, posesses the energy of a small village, our best player in the tournament so far.
-Koivu, awesome all-around effort today, the dynamo of the 83-line

2 lions:

-Lehtonen, our best d-man so far.
-J.Ruutu, what a pest he was today, gotta love his antics. Nice dirty work also.

1 lion:

-T.Ruutu, good work ethic, but I still have higher expectations of him.
-Jokinen
-Kukkonen
-Milan Minar, nice job letting the boys play hockey today, a few odd calls (Santala 2 min for slashing the stick, Bergenheim 2 min for opponent dropping his helmet) and missed penalties on Finland, but overall he was ok.

1 sheep:

-Kallio, you have to score against other teams than Uzbekistan and Trinidad & Tobago.
-Viuhkola, where was he today
-Peltonen, O.Jokinen is our leader now.

2 sheeps:

-Berg, has the movements of a diesel train.

3 sheeps:

-Mäntylä, brutal. :shakehead

nod, agree on basically all accounts.. thats the best thing about getting OJ, Peltonen's captaincy becomes formalised as the "invisible" captaincy it was as OJ takes the lead in the dressing room and the ice.

To Matti_A i think Kallio showed nice moves and good hustle with the puck, he's been playing better than in any other tourny i've seen.

I agree. Kallio has been very good so far and i hope that he continues to play like this and would score many important goals for Finland. :)

BErg was not bad at all today. He was a physical force around the net.

Bergenheim was the surprise, he challenged the U.S defensemen and made some sick moves...very good game.
