lol.. commentator just said interesting thing about Ovechkin... he asked AO before the game about probable concussions for AO, Kotsov and Kulyash after hits in game against Kazakhstan... AO smiled and answered : "Machines aren't broken"

Emeleev makes it 1-0 from the slot on PP ... Beautiful combination... we played with them with one line during 1 min. and 30 secs. and in result Emeleev was left alone on the slot

Russia gets two penalties at the end of the period (19.45 and 19.50).

Could you describe them? I have a feeling this Canadian/American referee might be favoring the Belarus in this game.

Kaizer

Another penalty to Russia. Have they been deserved?
Bykov on Grabovsky ? Yes. Bykov catched Grabovsky in the corner and then decided to put him down for some reason :dunno:
Grigorenko ? It was penalty (tripping just on the face-off) but it wasn't something bad ... just inaccurate play by Igor

Icekube

Belarus plays quite decent hockey. Definitely an underdog, but they are holding their own. Most important, their PK is doing well.

I guess this is the game where Russia had a lot of bad bounces. Usually it is good to have games like that at the early stage. Facing the adversity will just remind you that every game needs to be won and I think this team pulled this off. I remember in 2000 the team of NHLers could not do it and these guys did. I have a strong belief that this is a capable team. I also think that Grigorenko will bounce back - he always does.

If this is the case they should have rested him in this game and maybe even against Slovakia.

He has a cold, its widely documented.

Recent news: Malkin, Grigorenko, Semin all have cold. Sokolov just arrived in Riga.

So thats why Semin and Grigorenko sucked today.

I hope they get well soon.

Good to hear Mikhnov played well. Any more info on him or his game would be great. I am expecting Lowe to make a serious pitch to bring him over this summer. If you could compare him to another NHL player who would it be?

Is there any chance he could move up a line or get some PP time?

Belarus played well, but they were lucky most of all.

Russians could've played better, but even with this sucky play the game could've ended 4-2 or 5-2 with just some luck.

Stop being arrogant. Last time I checked, goalie is part of the team, so you can't attribute his good play to "luck". Oh, and it could have been 4-2 for Belarus had Grabovsky and Kostitsyn buried their chances in the 3rd period.

Now, this is not to say that Russia didn't deserve to win this one, they had much more scoring chances, but again, this is what goalie is for ;)

Another remark: officiating was great. Couldn't argue with any call, even though Belarus was penalized more than Russian and penalties eventually cost Belarus the game.

Now this is what I call an ultimate argument :biglaugh:

OK, I am not to going to argue with you anymore. Go ahead and blame the posts and the ref as much as you want.

As I said before, Russia deserved to win this one, but the game was so close not because of luck but because Belarus battled all game long.

You should read other posts more carefully. Nobody says that score 3:2 (and not bigger) is only because of luck. I agree with, Belarus fighted nice, but the facts are facts. I haven't even a second of thinking that Russia can lost. But, as already have been said, Belarus fighted nice, good luck with Kazahstan.

P.S. Do you think that that Atyushov's penalty was true ?
