OK, I know this isn't the entertainment forum or anything. Still I thought I'd put this in here since we talk so much about footie in here.

Anybody else heard about this movie? I think it looks good, though I have some problems. While I can understand it being a huge commercial in this day and age (the movie looks a big addidas commercial), it's kinda funny how that will mean some editing. For starters, in the second film (it's a trilogy) the player goes to Madrid. Well that's been filmed and they'll have to do some editing considering how poor Madrid's been. :D Then, he plays for Argentina in the WC which they'll film this summer. IMO they'll have to do plenty of editing if you've seen some of Pekerman's choices, or rather a lot of them.

The movie does look good to me though. I like that Newcastle are the Premiership side he plays for. I also like the story line. I guess it's probably not going to be too great, but it's nice to see a football film (unless you consider Madrid's film, which was a HUGE flop). Too bad they didn't go with Nike though. Just think, he gets a trial with Arsenal and plays at the new Emirates stadium. Then he goes to Barça and wins the CL. Then he plays for the US and wins the WC. Well they'd have to do some editing, though Barça wouldn't need any.

I find the first one pretty under-average.
Sill it's fun to have soccer movies.

Oh, you saw it? Like I said, I think the acting wouldn't be the best. Still I like the story line along with the fact it's a soccer movie. Alessandro Nivola is a good actor though.

When I first heard they were planning this trilogy, I was definitely intrigued. I think it will be kind of neat, but at the same time, it will probably be full of the cliches that plague every sports movie. Still, I like the fact that it is authentic, with the teams, the players, etc...

Does anybody know if it'll be released in Canada at the same time? I've been checking it at AMC releases and haven't seen anything and I ahven't seen any previews either. I'm pretty psyched about an actual Footballl movie and I really hope it'd be out in MTL.
