.. what would your team look like currently? Obviously I'm not going back too far as then we'll create more of a "best in franchise history squad", so in the past 3 years (from 2003). 3 Years where there were an awful lot of players dealt. You can include players already comitted to next season..
I'll try Ajax;
--------------------- Ibrahimovic -----------------
----- Babel ------------------------ de Ridder ---
-----------------------------------------------------
------------ vd Vaart ---------- Sneijder ---------
------------------------------------------------------
----------------------- Maduro ---------------------
Maxwell ---------------------------------- Trabelsi
-------------------- Stam - Chivu ------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
--------------------- Stekelenburg -----------------
Not bad now that I take a look at it.. That defense would be just sick.. I guess this is how Ajax would currently look like if money never was such a huge factor. Very young as well, 9 of the 11 players are below 25..

PSV:
------------ van Nistelrooij -- Huntelaar --------------

---------------- Cocu -------------------------------------
YP Lee ------------------------------------------- Lucius
----------------------- Alex --- Ooier -------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------- Gomes ------------------------
Chelsea's really wouldn't be much different, if at all. Zola left in June 2003 so maybe.

I remember actually rooting for Chelsea after visiting their stadium and all. At the time they had like 7 Dutchmen..
Too bad, I despise them now with their money spending..

Well for Barça you'd have this:
---------------------Eto'o----------------------
Ronaldinho--------------------------------Messi
-----------Deco-------------------Xavi---------
---------------------Edmilson------------------
Gio--------Puyol-------------Marquez----Oleguer
--------------------Valdes---------------------
So where are the changes? On the bench/in the rest of the squad:
Riquelme
Davids
Luis Garcia
Reina (if you consider when he was actually sold)
Quaresma
Pique
Cesc
Saviola
No particular order. Now I can see how the club could let all but two of these guys go. JRR is one of them, but I still say he could have stayed and fit in. Davids deserved what he got last season. All the best to Luis Garcia and I was said to see him go, though his wages tripled and Liverpool paid his buyout clause while also guaranteeing more football. Quaresma made his own bed with is attitude and should done his talking on the pitch, which he didn't. Pique supposedly had reasons other than money (which a source I've come into contact with claims were not money and were valid, though she won't devuldge those reasons), but I don't buy it. Cesc moaned about playing time, but had he stuck around he'd be getting his fair share. Don't buy his reasoning either. That leaves Reina and Saviola. IMO there was no reason to let Reina go and the club really forced Saviola out for a few reasons. Crazy to think of squad we'd have with those guys still around.

Is Chivu playing in the center of defense these days?

Zola was my favorite and at his best would push Drogba to the bench but Drogba has been good. Crespo gives us a nice #2. Chelsea really have no players they miss, they will be off loading quite a few this off season too. SWP will be loaned out I would say, Mourinho never showed an ounce of confidence and SWP in turn never looked like he fit. I love watching Robben dart and dive, Duff is solid down the left, Cole has been terrific and Gudjohnsen is a nice utility player at or near the front. I dearly miss Dan Petrescu who at his best was as good as Ferreira if not better. I see nothing in Del Horno that Babayaro could not give. Perhaps Babayaro was not aggressive enough but Del Horno has been crap since January.
Mourinho for all his faults gives me a much better feeling than Vialli or ranieri. Vialli used to hit the field when things were going particularly poorly.
Jody Morris- where have you gone?

Hajduk Split
Pletikosa
Vukovic - Sablic - Neretljak
Srna - Andric - Carevic - Rapaic
Kranjcar
Busic - Bule
Maybe you won't know any of these players but Vukovic is in the 2. Bundesliga, Sablic with Dynamo Kiev, Neretljak is the best defender in the Asian leagues, Srna is one of Croatia's top players, Andric is in Panathiakos, Carevic in Stuttgart, Rapaic in Belgium, Bule in Austria.
If it was more than only three years we could still have guys like Igor Tudor, Alen Boksic, Igor Stimac, Slaven Bilic
