3-0 and allow canes to come back to tie; very stupid. Stillman picks up another game winner though.

With both Affy and Fedatenko producing nothing it must be time to take a chance on someone in the minors. I enjoyed my trip over and the 2 wins against Atlanta (we were lucky) and Minnesota (solid win), but it just seems ridiculous that Feds gets time on the Vinny line with so little output. It is a real achievemnet that Vinny is still putting up the numbers he is with no help at all on 5 on 5 play.I know Pete goes on about it a lot but Willis can't be any worse.

Maybe with Feds and Affy managing only a point each its time we put Grahame in goal and played Khabibulin with his 2 assists on the wing!!!

Still the start has been awesome and we should perhaps just enjoy it as they can't be doing too much wrong.

I think SSN had you on t.v. for a few seconds during the Wild game. Red jerseys?

Afanasenkov played pretty well last night. Slippery little fellow. Created a couple good chances.

Willis is just better. Faster, looks to shoot more, better shot, more physical... equal defensively if not better.

I like Affy, but I'd like to see how he does with his new found "desperation" in the AHL, putting it all together. He was passed over in the WD, so he doesn't have to clear waivers.

Not many believe the Lightning is anything more than a pretender:

Not me in the red I'm afraid. Hockey night for me is authentic Vincent Number 4 jersey, so that just narrows me down to one from 4000 others!!!

If we are not treated seriously as contenders then this is often an advantage, but I feel this might be predominantly in other fans minds who see the Lightning rarely if at all. I don't think too many number one goalies will be getting the night off against Tampa anymore. The respect is there now and the wins against Boston and New Jersey should not be sniffed at.

The start has been a real team effort which is pleasing, so we still have double digit point streaks from Marty and Brad to look forward to as well as the guaranteed 2 pointers against the Panthers all year. A healthy Khabi and Cully and I genuinely believe the play offs are a formality this season (not wanting to tempt fate of course). The big question this season is do we progress on Round 2.

I think there's a lot of truth in this, other than us and some other interested people, most folks NEVER see the Bolts outside of highlights on Sportscenter. These are the same people who judge Richards based on his playoff performance. I don't worry too much about their opinions. :)

Hee hee hee, nice one!

Glad you had a good time here and saw some wins!!

Affy has 1 goal...Fedotenko has 1 assist.....poor Vinny...amazing how he is doing it all by himself and on the pp.

Afenasenkov isn't showing up period on the stat card. I think sending him down may be a good idea all of the sudden; especially with the play of some of the other AHL players

Lecavalier was with Modin and Afanasenkov the other night and will be kept together to start tonight.

The line had 2 goals. Affy looked good, but didn't hit the scoresheet.

That 30 goal projection still holding?

That line looked head and shoulders above a Roy-Lecavalier-Fedotenko or Affy-Lecavalier-Fedotenko line. Modin really made a difference IMO. Created lots of space for Vinny, plus brought some real toughness to the board work. Winning those battles that Feds just can't do. Made a big difference.

Chad, somewhere in some post I read, you commented that Affy was a "slippery" fellow. That is very observant comment. There was many times during the Carolina game where I was watching Affy move the puck up the ice and through the neutral zone. Each time I'm thinking that the 'Cane forechecker was going to crush him or make him turnover the puck. But many times he squeezed by the forechecker and push the puck into the o-zone. I was really impressed. He took the punishment and fought through. He's tougher than I gave him credit for, and he's also more wiley than I thought. Those three looked good, and maybe for the first time this season, I thought we had some fairly balanced scoring lines.

And they were giving the Canes all kinds of trouble until the Bolts thought they'd already won the game.

As much as I like Mo-Vinny-Affy, I'd still like to see Mo-Vinny-Willis. I'd much rather see Willis/Affy platooned over the coarse of a few games, than see Cibak/Svitov platooned right now.

I agree, would like to give Willis a look-see. I still can't get my head around why Svitov is up here, and judging from a Torts soundbite I heard on 620 this afternoon, it sounds like Torts isn't putting Svitov in the lineup tonight. I may have misunderstood, but I guess we'll find out in an hour or so.

You are right that Mo-Vinny-Affy was farrrr better than any other weird combo we've seen thus far this season, and Mo was certainly a big part of it. I made a point to note Mo's shooting when I watched the game tape, and every shot I saw that wasn't deflected by a d-man's stick was ON NET. Hope he can do it with some consistency, that would be a beautiful thing. I like what I see so far from Affy and was glad to see him back in the lineup.

Though TBL PR denies this is the reason, I'm sticking to my speculation that because of the manpower shortages in Hershey (5 Av call-ups + 3 injuries), there's no way TBL can recall Willis/Perrin/Keefe/Trepanier without leaving Hershey in the lurch. Those four guys are key to Hershey being even remotely competitive. For the interim, Hershey practically has a sole affiliation with the Bolts. There are currently ZERO forwards under contract to Colorado in the Bears lineup. And, in case you haven't noticed, the Bolts now have seven players in Hershey [above four plus Alexeev, Artukhin, and Craig], and that was before Alexeev's injury. With Aleexev's injury, I would not be surprised to see a Dwayne Hay call-up to Hershey.

With a roster spot open, TBL will use it for something, and that something is a brief look-see at Svitov at center. Unless Svitov really plays head-and-shoulders above Cibak, I believe Svitov's call-up will be short-lived, and we'll see a Hershey-ite as soon as the Avs are able to return some of their depth to the Bears. My opinion and my speculation, but time will tell.

I might be wrong, but I believe we had many long stretches last year with a 22 man roster. It just seems strange to think that they now feel compelled to carry 23. :dunno:

I'm not annoyed that Svitov got called up before anyone else, and I'm not trying to formulate some conspiracy theory. I'm taking this for what it seems to be (a look-see), nothing to get excited about one way or another. However, it just seems odd to do this when Alex was just picking up his game in Hamilton, has only been there a few weeks and I personally haven't seen a big drop off from Cibak. Whatever floats Coach's boat, I guess.

Oh well, time for pre-game...go Bolts :)

Obviously the 25-30 goal projection isn't on target at this point, but I think he still is worthy of a spot on Vinny's line and will produce shortly.
