Here's a look at the early top performing prospects across the league. It's early of course, but what surprised me the most putting this together was how few of the top performing prospects were guys on NHL or even AHL contracts.

Noting your wink, I will add for others' benefit that he plays for Louisiana and has two assists in five games. He'll have to pick it up to make a list. It looks like he's entirely capable though based on his junior numbers.

Good to see Paolini seeing early success in his pro career. IMHO, he was one of the ECAC's most underrated players last season. I wasn't hard for most people to overlook Paolini last season, when the roster featured top notch players like Stephen Baby and David Leneveu. ;)

My only complaint is under Greg Day-- Worcester is not spelled Worchester. :)

Three players that should be on that list are Charles Linglet, Mark Smith and Joe Talbot of Alaska. Linglet has shown that he can score at will, and has been improving in his own end of the ice every single game, and Talbot has shown a playmaker's touch and a willingness to stand up for his teammates despite his lack of size (5'10", 165 pounds). Same can be said for Smith. Mark has dominated games time after time for the Aces, and I have no doubt these three will move up someday. Probably sooner than later.

The November list will be done in a week. Most of it is done by stats, which is the only fair way to do it league-wide. These players didn't make the cutoff last time, but I'm sure at least Linglet will this time.

Linglet came to Thrashers training camp in 2002. I thought he had some potential then too.

I hope Tim Smith, Jesse Schultz, and Brandon Nolan are on the list, they could all be playing in the AHL if the Moose weren't so deep.
