Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 08:55 AM Let's see if we can keep the streak going. I'm sure the Flyers will come out hard to make up for their last effort at the Meadowlands. Should be an excellent challenge for the Devils.
gamera 04-16-2006, 08:59 AM best of luck, and most of all, best of luck TUESDAY against the Habs...PLEASE beat them in regulation. be your best friend....;)

mad that they sceduled game during day today; can't make it....... how would one get the playoff avatar's everyone is sporting??
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 09:10 AM mad that they sceduled game during day today; can't make it....... how would one get the playoff avatar's everyone is sporting??
Go back to the avatar thread and ask for one. Two good folks are creating them, Puddy and Fighter of Foo.
David Puddy 04-16-2006, 09:38 AM This game is another early playoff game. The Devils must come out with energy and pound on the Flyers. All four lines must do what they do best. The All-American Line of Gomez, Gionta and Parise must provided some scoring. The second line of Elias, Brylin and Langenbrunner must at least create scoring chances. The Madden Line backed with White and Martin must shutdown Forsberg-Gagne-Knubble, and the Dobbermann Line of Weimer, Rasmussen and Janssen must throw their bodies around again this game. Those three had 10 of the Devils 17 hits Thursday night. The Flyers entire team only had one more hit than the Dobbermanns.
Lukowich and Rafalski will likely register the most minutes, especially Rafalski with his power play time. I don't know if Matvichuk is healthy enough, so I will say Hale and Klee will form the thrid pairing. Those two were great individually and as partners the other day. The defensemen did a great job of standing the attacking Flyers at the blueline last game.
Marty Brodeur must be Marty Brodeur.
Coaches Lamoriello, MacLean and Laperriere must identify the changes Hitchcock and his staff are trying to implement.
Let's go out there and show them what physical hockey is Devils!
mad that they sceduled game during day today; can't make it....... how would one get the playoff avatar's everyone is sporting??Yes, Easter Sunday is tough for some. I'm sure there are people that go away for the weekend to visit relatives. I hope to watch the whole game on TV before my family has an early dinner.
As for the playoff avatars, go to the thread dedicated to them. Nearly all of the rostered players are taken, but someone or something can be found for you. I don't think goaltending coach Jacques Caron has been selected yet, and I think owner Jeff Vanderbeek is still available.
Don't worry about it though; it's still five days or so before the playoffs start.
I'm thinking of making avatars to honor the three Stanley Cup Championship teams. I would like to offer 1995 to MattNJD because he has said that he will give ClaudeLemieux4HOF the avatar with the 1995 Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
Verbeek12 04-16-2006, 09:55 AM Absolutely right on the money. we need intensity from minute 1. With Forsberg back in the lineup this will be a much different team then we faced Thursday. We have been a much better home team this year than road, so that carrot of still having a chance in the division should be a huge motivator. The Rangers are crumbling, and the dominator should play tuesday so they very well could lose again. 1 game, 1 shift at a time...
NJDevils#4 04-16-2006, 10:44 AM If the Flyers win this one, there's a good chance we can play them in round 1 of the playoffs. Rangers have really fallen off as of late...
Lets beat tonight them so we can knock out the Rags in round 1
3-2 Devils, Gomez, Martin, Madden w/ the goals tonight.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 11:23 AM Thankfully, church is in the morning. Meaning, I got nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the Devils lay a beatdown on the Flyers. Flyers had a big win yesterday, got the 'Berg back, but I imagine they're tired. They got to go NJ's house, tired, and try and stymie the hottest team in the NHL, who has had some rest recently. David Puddy said it all earlier and I imagine the Maven will say something to the same effect before the game.
Let's beat Philly and move all up on NY! TO THE #1!!! GO DEVILS!
TheKingPin 04-16-2006, 12:32 PM Not to burst your bubble but apparently half the team had the flu on thursday. This will be a different game.
My real question is do you think the change in your success this year was Elias or Lou taking over?
I would say Elias but everyone seems to think that Lou is the reason...
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 12:38 PM We can make a big statement today.
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 12:46 PM Not to burst your bubble but apparently half the team had the flu on thursday. This will be a different game.
My real question is do you think the change in your success this year was Elias or Lou taking over?
I would say Elias but everyone seems to think that Lou is the reason...
Why is it that whenever we beat teams it's the Refs, trap, luck and now a new one "The Flu." :shakehead
Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 01:03 PM Forsberg a late scratch.
Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 01:06 PM Why is it that whenever we beat teams it's the Refs, trap, luck and now a new one "The Flu." :shakehead
"I bought a suit. You seen it. Now it's covered in mud. This town doesn't have a one hour cleaner so I had to buy a new suit, except the only store you could buy a new suit in has got the flu. Got that? The whole store got the flu so I had to get this in a second hand store. So it's either wear the leather jacket which I know you hate, or this. So I wore this ridiculous thing for you."
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 01:08 PM The All-American Line of Gomez, Gionta and Parise must provided some scoring.
I prefer to call them the midget/dwarf/hobbit line (take your pick). All of them are under 6 feet!
Big game today (like every game), GO DEVILS!
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:12 PM Forsberg a late scratch.
Chico just mentioned that it's a groin problem for Forsberg that is keeping him out of today's game.
15:50 left UPDATE: What a great play there, Elias feeding an open Brylin. Brylin did the right thing by rushing the net and getting a short shot off. Good opportunity there.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:17 PM GIONTA SCORES ON THE REBOUND!!!!!!
#46! The first goal of the game! BIG GOAL FROM LITTLE G!!!!
1-0 NJ! Whoooo!
UPDATE: And NJ follows that with 2 scoring chances! The Flyers are looking shaky to say the least!
HITTING UPDATE: Cam Janssen has the biggest hit so far, ramming Rathje in the end boards in the Flyers' end.
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 01:21 PM Sweet! With that goal, Gio ties Pat Verbeek for the team goal scoring record. Congrats to Gionta!
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:22 PM And NJ isn't just the first team today to get a goal.
They will also get the first power play of the game. If I saw it correctly, Jeff Carter tripped up Klee in the Devils' zone (UPDATE, Kapenen was the tripper, but Carter was seen as Klee fell. Sorry Jeff that the ref named you and not Sami). That's 2 minutes for Jeff to sit down and feel shame. Let's make the most of it, Devils. GO FOR 47, GIO!
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 01:24 PM That's 2 minutes for Jeff to sit down and feel shame.
DevilFisch, I love your comments :D. Keep up the good work!
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:28 PM Thanks. Good to know I'm not just blabbing and trashing up the thread. :)
Parise getting the puck down low and taking a short shot is the best chance for NJ on that power play. Alas, it was saved and the Flyers kill the penalty.
Incidentally, if I heard Doc and Chico correctly, NJ has roughly 84 more power play opportunities than shorthanded situations. That's good discipline, right there. Now if only they were more effective on the PP; the Devils would be so dangerous, even Detroit fans would have to go "daaaaamn."
rwhite 04-16-2006, 01:30 PM Good to see the offense get going quickly.
For those of us who can't watch the game how is marty and the defense playing? Who's controlling most of the play?
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:32 PM Devils seem to be controlling much of the pace. The Flyers have been getting shots, but very few (if any) rebounds and Marty is...Marty. NJ is looking good so far.
Desjardens hauls down Gionta. Wiemer (yeah the line was Weimer-Gomez-Gionta) hits Desjardens from behind and gives him a little shot in taking exception. Both sit for cross-checking (yes, BOTH got called for cross checking). We got 4-on-4 action!
UPDATE: The Flyers have decided to join NJ in a hockey game. They're making more attempts on shots in the Devils' zone, but NJ isn't slouching having just had a strong scoring chance off a 3-on-2 (Parise had a great shot, but saved by Esche).
THE GRANT MARSHALL ASIDE: Grant is playing game #699 today.
THE CHECKING LINE ASIDE: Pandolfo-Madden-Marshall have played together for 12 games now. 6 goals, 70 shots, even rating. No estimate on the number of missed shots (my estimate: 120. 60 misses by Madden alone).
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 01:41 PM DEVILS SCORE!!!!
Elias put out there with Gomez and Gionta in the closing minutes of the first. And Elias shot just FLOATS past Esche and drops in for the goal!!!
2-0 NJ!
Elias' 14th of the season his 500th career point. Congratulations to Patrik Elias!
End of the first. Flyers aren't tired, but the Devils have had the edge in the first period in all aspects and (most importantly) to scoreboard. Matt Loughlin is now talking to Gionta, who doesn't feel any pressure to get goals #46 or #47, he just wants to WIN.
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 01:43 PM 500 career points for Elias and 46 goals this year for Gionta. Two quality guys.
Hendler2 04-16-2006, 01:43 PM nice call by Johnny Mac
I was thinking to myself that I did not recall any coach for the Devs pulling anything "creative" like that.
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 01:43 PM Yes! Go Devils!
Man, today has been a GREAT day so far :D
NaChOs 04-16-2006, 01:44 PM WOOOOOOOOO 2-0 patty scores
Verbeek12 04-16-2006, 01:44 PM awesome. we gotta keep the pressure on. You can see it- the Flyers are befuddled, but one goal can change things...500 points for Elias. I wanna see at least 500 more for him in a Devil's uni Lou!!!
Verbeek12 04-16-2006, 01:47 PM As has been the case the last 10 games all the shots are from the perimiter, none from in close. Thats not a plan for success against any goalie, let alone one of the best of all time.
rwhite 04-16-2006, 01:52 PM Things are looking up for the Devils
IF the Devils win today that will move them into 5th place and 1 pt. back of New York and tied with Philly all with 1 game remaining.
I think it is going to come down to whether NYR lose to the Islanders or not looking at the schedule.
NJD vs. MTL
NYR vs. NYI
PHI vs. OTT
Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 01:59 PM Holy crap, Chico just said we were once 19 points behind the Flyers, man I keep forgetting how bad this season was going.
Verbeek12 04-16-2006, 02:01 PM The Missile hits another target boooooom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-0
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:01 PM GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMEZ!!!!
Dear Carlos Gomez,
Thank you for giving Scotty those skates when he was about 4.
Sincerely,
DF
DEVILS SCORE!!!! Gomez just puts it past Esche (maybe off a Gionta screen?).
3-0 NJ!
LiG, what you say is proof to not give up hope so easily!
ESCHE OUT! NIITYMAKI IN! GO DEVILS!
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 02:01 PM This is frvicking awesome. We are not dominating, we are playing devils hockey
Defense
Turnover
Score
3-0
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 02:02 PM The Missile again. The Flyers just can't handle our best players.
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 02:03 PM doh
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:03 PM Well, the Flyers have a response. Gagne was looking to the slot, but launches a high shot which just goes over Brodeur's left shoulder (who was expecting a pass from Gagne).
3-1 NJ. Devils, time to put a nail in this coffin.
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 02:03 PM Holy crap, Chico just said we were once 19 points behind the Flyers, man I keep forgetting how bad this season was going.
It's amazing how this team has turned the season around. They have been playing awesome hockey since the 2006 started.
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 02:04 PM Hate to give a score so early after you scored one. O.K. Marty, no more.
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 02:06 PM damn it... i forgot this was an early game and missed the 1st. great game by the looks of it 3-1
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:07 PM GIONTA HIT THE POST!!!!!
We were less than inch to the left of #47 and a three goal lead. Flyers have yet to learn that you do not leave Brian Gionta open.
Gauthier and Marshall are duking it out after Marshall drills Desjardens into the boards.
Hendler2 04-16-2006, 02:08 PM rockem' sockem' marshall layin' the smack down
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 02:08 PM TKO by Marshall!
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 02:09 PM How the F is that a penalty after Gautier was obviously the instigator.
Devils getting the calls indeed :madfire:
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:10 PM Well, Marshall was going to get called for roughing on the Desjardens hit (linesman had his hand up after the hit in the background of the replay shot); so Philadelphia goes on the power play.
Let's kill this penalty, NJ, no comebacks for the Orange Cones.
Tao Jones 04-16-2006, 02:10 PM One period at a time.
Is today official jinx day?
Hope the team doesn't start the playoffs with the swagger on the board today. A loss today would be a good wake-up call.
(shakes index finger) :D
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:12 PM Langenbrunner will sit for tripping Rathje (or knocking down Carter-whichever), Carter will sit for interfering with Langenbrunner. Coincidental minors, so NJ just has 16 seconds of shorthanded time.
UPDATE: Gomez somehow gets a shot off while tangled up! It's not just Gionta, Gomez has it going onnnnnnnnnnnnnn today.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:17 PM Rathje (I think) was technically behind the blueline and cleared it over the boards (the bench?), so that's a penalty for delay of game. I agree with Chico, it's a weak call. But hey, the refs make the calls, not the color commentators.
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 02:20 PM Rathje (I think) was technically behind the blueline and cleared it over the boards (the bench?), so that's a penalty for delay of game. I agree with Chico, it's a weak call. But hey, the refs make the calls, not the color commentators.
I really hope they get rid of that penalty for next year. That is by far the worst of the new rules, IMO.
Guttersnipe 04-16-2006, 02:29 PM Hope the kids watching can't lip read, because after the icing call they cut to a close-up of testy Elias clearly saying 'F* You'.
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 02:31 PM Yeeeeaaaa!!
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 02:31 PM i can't believe we had klee and lukowich out there but we scored!!! lukowich with the shot langs with the follow up
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:32 PM DON'T EVER GIVE UP ON A PLAY!!!!
Jamie Langenbrunner didn't.
AND HE SCORED ON THE REBOUND OF A LUKOWICH SHOT!!!
4-1 NJ!
Hey Flyers! Are you the Rangers? Are you the Rangers? Are you the Rangers in disguise?
AND THAT IS THE END OF THE SECOND PERIOD! 4-1 NJ leading! Flyers aren't flat, but the Devils are getting it done like a cable guy! I'm liking this game so much, I am going to get some pudding!
Guttersnipe 04-16-2006, 02:32 PM Yeeeeaaaa!!
I'm madly in love with this whole team. :handclap:
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 02:32 PM Jamie Langenfluffer is gearing up for the playoffs!!!
What a shift!!!!!!!
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 02:32 PM I'm madly in love with this whole team. :handclap:
I second that
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 02:33 PM Great work by the Elias line. Awesome!!
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 02:35 PM I am just sitting here at the computer, all by myself in my apartment, with this big, goofy grin on my face. I cannot wait for the playoffs :D.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:37 PM I am just sitting here at the computer, all by myself in my apartment, with this big, goofy grin on my face. I cannot wait for the playoffs :D.
You are not alone with that. Except I'm in my parent's basement eating pudding with said grin. BRING ON ROUND ONE!!!!
Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 02:38 PM Even Ken Klee is playing great, probably made the defensive play of the game on Umberger semi break away.
Verbeek12 04-16-2006, 02:39 PM Hard work pays off! Langenbruner with #18....thats the difference between Marty and the rest of the pack- harmless shot from the point Marty knows how to control the rebound. Nittymacki gives it right to Bruner....another back breaker at the end of the period for the opposition.
Jared Ramsden 04-16-2006, 02:40 PM This team is on fire....Everything and everybody is firing on all cylinders....from the sounds of it, they appear to be having little difficulty today. Carter, Umberger and Dimatrikos are a combined -12 after 2 periods....I want that division title!!! :yo: ....
sveiglar 04-16-2006, 02:40 PM I am just sitting here at the computer, all by myself in my apartment, with this big, goofy grin on my face. I cannot wait for the playoffs :D.
But just remember, this team can't compete in the playoffs. It has no chance, so it's better that they don't show up at all.
You are not alone with that. Except I'm in my parent's basement eating pudding with said grin. BRING ON ROUND ONE!!!!
BTW Bill says good choice!
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 02:41 PM The All-American Line
uh-huh.......Gionta's are Italians. Gomez's are Mexicans. Parise's are French Canadians.
So, they're the european line.
NaChOs 04-16-2006, 02:42 PM WOW this team is just getting better and better game by game.
Gearing up for a playoff run?
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BOY
sveiglar 04-16-2006, 02:43 PM I want that division title!!! :yo: ....
IF they hold on in regulation this afternoon, they'll have one more win than both the Flyers and Rangers going into Tuesday, so if the Rangers don't get more than a single point from Ottawa, it would be the Devils' division to lose.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:43 PM uh-huh.......Gionta's are Italians. Gomez's are Mexicans. Parise's are French Canadians.
So, they're the european line.
They were born and raised in America. They have played on American national teams. They're Americans!!!!! :)
FLYERS GDT ASIDE: They think we still play the EGG line. Shhhh...
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 02:43 PM Dano made a great point about how this team is playing when he showed Rasmussen beat two Flyers to the puck then fed the Rocket who hit the Cross-bar. That was a fantsatic effort and play by Ras.
Jersey Fresh 04-16-2006, 02:45 PM I could definitely see this game getting ugly. You know those Flyers. :biglaugh:
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 02:48 PM what happened to white?
zarathustra1900 04-16-2006, 02:49 PM I second that
I'll 3rd that. Wah-BAM!!!!!
Amazing, this team is amazing. They should really be proud of what they have done this season.
Man, perusing the posts within the Philly forum, I did refrain, but with difficulty.
There sure are a lot of haters out there of the Devs eh?
They will never live down initiating that defense system, no matter what changes are made, no matter how many points, goals, or how many years pass....
what a cop-out....it's really sad.
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 02:50 PM They were born and raised in America. They have played on American national teams. They're Americans!!!!! :)
FLYERS GDT ASIDE: They think we still play the EGG line. Shhhh...
I saw that too on their thread. Hilarious. In fairness though, JMac did put that line on the ice at the end of the 1st for a goal.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:51 PM Perhaps, but not to be a stick in the mud, I can remember about a month ago a number of posters here who were doubting NJ making the playoffs muchless the possiblity of winning the division.
Anyway, enough about the past and future. We can only control the present. I will spend it watching NJ in the third period. No breakdowns, no injuries, and no comebacks from Orange Cones. NAIL IN THE COFFIN TIME, DEVILS!
And go for #47, Gionta. Go Devils.
BLACKJACK ASIDE: I told them this was the first time EGG was put out there on a non-PP situation. Maybe I should have kept my big mouth shut ;)
Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 02:53 PM what happened to white?
They didn't say, but I sense he could be nothing but a minor injury since he did play two shifts in the 2nd, with a three goal lead maybe the Devils are rolling the dice and hope sitting him the rest of the way won't bite us in the ***.
Of course this is could be nothing but wishful thinking, this would be devasting if he went down for any amount of time.
GuloGulo 04-16-2006, 02:53 PM They were born and raised in America. They have played on American national teams. They're Americans!!!!! :)

Amazing crop of US players the devils have. Applaud Lou for finding troopers on home soil :handclap:

Ronnie Bass 04-16-2006, 02:54 PM just saw it tweaked his ankle a little bit
Cool, thanks man.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 02:55 PM Pitkanen will sit for holding Brylin in a chase for the puck.
You know, the Devils have yet to score on the power play this afternoon. Now's a good time to score on the PP! GO SCORE NJ!
UPDATE: The Devils did not score on the PP, as you all know by now. Langenbrunner nearly deflected in a Gionta shot, but it went wide. Anyway, NJ is cruising right now; as the commentators wonder why it's Freddy Meyer IV and not Frederick Meyer IV (which is more noble, IMO).
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 02:57 PM wierd conversation about Frederick IV by Doc and Chico for a good minute
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 03:00 PM Amazing crop of US players the devils have. Applaud Lou for finding troopers on home soil :handclap:
interesting to see that the devils rarely have more than 5 non-north american players playing at a time.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 03:02 PM Carlos Gomez is not here for Scotty, but to chapherone two contest winners from Alaska to a Devils game (who are properly representing the correct team :) ). Nice gesture for Matt to quickly chat with them.
And now, Philly goes on the PP with a minor call called on Klee. He had to hold off a Flyer to prevent a chance. Flyers need to do something here if they want to be back in this.
Me, I hope they get shut down. GO DEVILS PK!
UPDATE: And they do, as you all probably know by now. 9 minutes left in the game
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 03:04 PM Patttyyyy!!! 5-1
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 03:05 PM Come on Patrik, go for the Hatrik!
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 03:05 PM ELIAS FROM THE POINT THROUGH NIITYMAKI!!!!
Nail in the coffin, gotta love it. Hits Niity but bounces past him and down into the net.
Big shot, big goal, Devils up 5-1.
HEY FLYERS:
Are you the NY Rangers?
Are you the NY Rangers?
Are you the NY Rangers in disguise?
EPL SOCCER CHANT FOR HITCHCOCK: Who ate aaaaaalllllll the pies?
Feed Me A Stray Cat 04-16-2006, 03:16 PM What's up with White!?
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 03:16 PM And the Devils continue looking for goal #6. Marshall had a beauty of a shot around a crowd, but it went wide. I think it's safe to say NJ will win this game with 2:30 left in the 3rd; but I don't want to jinx it.
White is sitting with a tweaked ankle. Best not to risk it at this point.
We got ONE minute left in the third period. Dobermans are out there.
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 03:20 PM 10 in a row!!!!! NHL SEASON HIGH!!
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 03:23 PM Wow, we have more wins right now then either the Rangers or Flyers. Who would have ever thought.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 03:23 PM 10! TEN! T-E-N! Less than 11, more than 9, TEN STRAIGHT WINS!
The longest winning streak for the Devils. Devils have 45 wins and 99 points (tied with Philadelphia) and are now in 5th in the East. The Devils are one point behind the Rangers. If NJ beats Montreal and the Rangers lose, the Devils will take the Atlantic, IIRC.
The Devils just played solid hockey. Everyone played well, even Klee! Gomez, Gionta, Langenbrunner, and Elias especially stood out with their productive efforts. Elias gets career points #500, #501, and #502, Gionta ties Verbeek with 46 goals, and the Devils are BLAZING on their way to the playoffs. The Flyers weren't as tired as I thought they'd be, and if the puck bounced a different way here or there, it could have been much closer. But the Devils dominated and come up with a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE 5-1 win.
Sprint Player of the Game is Patrik Elias with 2 goals and an assist.
ONTO MONTREAL! Marty, it's the Canadiens, time to own them.
Brooklyndevil 04-16-2006, 03:28 PM With Matvichuck out and White being injured, not sure how severe, but Lou looks pretty smart now by adding Lucowich and Klee.
thefiestygoat 04-16-2006, 03:29 PM Great game! 10 in a row...I hope they win in Montreal and the Rangers lose so the Devils get the division! Hopefully White will be ok, he is a HUGE player for the Devils and I hope Matvichuk will be ok for the playoffs. Go Devils!
DevilsFan38 04-16-2006, 03:35 PM :D :D :D :D :D
That pretty much sums up my emotions right now
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 03:47 PM They were born and raised in America. They have played on American national teams. They're Americans!!!!! :)
FLYERS GDT ASIDE: They think we still play the EGG line. Shhhh...
It's more fun to rain on their non americanness. Im surprised Parise doesn't know french. I was listening to the RDS feed of the Devils-MTL game last week, and I heard how you say Parise's last name properly. He says he'll learn French from pop though.
NaChOs 04-16-2006, 03:49 PM i hope White is ok :( chico kinda got me a little nervous talking about the injury.
LETS GO FOR 11 IN A ROW AND TAKE THE DIVISION BABY!
Colin Whites Eye 04-16-2006, 03:54 PM to all yoou guys saying the rangers have to lose- they dont. as long as we win our game, the rangers just cant win. they can lose in OT and get a point since we would win the WINS tiebreaker
David Puddy 04-16-2006, 03:59 PM Carlos Gomez is not here for Scotty, but to chapherone two contest winners from Alaska to a Devils game (who are properly representing the correct team :) ).
9 minutes left in the gameBut did you hear what the guy from Alaska said? He said that he will cheer for the Devils or whatever team for which Gomer is going to play. I hope the contest winner from Alaska didn't get some inside info from Carlos Gomez.
DevilFisch 04-16-2006, 03:59 PM Puddy: I heard, but I'm not going to worry about that until that time actually comes. I'd rather focus on Montreal on Tuesday and the playoffs before the offseason.
to all yoou guys saying the rangers have to lose- they dont. as long as we win our game, the rangers just cant win. they can lose in OT and get a point since we would win the WINS tiebreaker
So what you're saying is, the Rangers have to LOSE and the Devils have to win. Exactly what we've been saying.
Jared Ramsden 04-16-2006, 04:04 PM 10 in a row!!!!! NHL SEASON HIGH!!
That about sums it up nicely :yo: ....The team is about as hot as you can get heading into the playoffs. No matter who we play in the 1st round, this Devils team is playing with a ton of confidence, and whomever we do match-up with will have to deal with the hottest team in the NHL!
David Puddy 04-16-2006, 04:10 PM So what you're saying is, the Rangers have to LOSE and the Devils have to win. Exactly what we've been saying.No. The Devils magic number is 3. Two points for a Devils win, and 1 point from a Rangers OT would give the Devils the Atlantic Division Championship by virtue of the 1st tie-breaker, wins.
If the Devils only get one point against Montreal, they will need the other two points from Rangers and Flyers losses.
P.S.
I agree about Gomez. I hope Lou can lock Elias, Gomez and Gionta up. That way he can bring in Zajac, Bergfors and guys like Tallackson and Ryznar in the near future. The present is great, and the future looks pretty good with Greene on the blueline.
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 04:11 PM But did you hear what the guy from Alaska said? He said that he will cheer for the Devils or whatever team for which Gomer is going to play. I hope the contest winner from Alaska didn't get some inside info from Carlos Gomez.
Yeah, I heard that guy. **** him, go back to Alaska.
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 04:12 PM Wow, look at NYR and PHI's boards; neither team wants any part of us in the playoffs.
Wasn't too long ago that I was reading posts about how much they would enjoy eliminating us from the playoffs, now they'd just as soon let someone else try.

Watch History of the World Part One, it's the movie that made that line a classic.

He didn't. It's just his way of saying he's a Gomez fan. It's like me I was a Peluso fan and was a fan of whatever team he was on. If it was true Scott wouldn't want a long term contract.

I've seen it, I just remember it more from MIT ;)
SickNice 04-16-2006, 04:57 PM After Elias scored his first goal, he immediately skated to the net and grabbed the puck. Obv. the announcers missed it, but what was the occasion?

Career pt. 500
Colin Whites Eye 04-16-2006, 05:06 PM So what you're saying is, the Rangers have to LOSE and the Devils have to win. Exactly what we've been saying.
haha pretty much, i just sometimes get confused since there are no ties anymore
SickNice 04-16-2006, 05:16 PM Career pt. 500Gotcha, thanks. I didn't hear them mention it at the time on the broadcast.
Easton 04-16-2006, 05:29 PM So, which station(s) cover which Devils playoff games? Does FSNY cover any of them? And no, I can't wait until Tuesday.
crashlanding 04-16-2006, 05:38 PM So, which station(s) cover which Devils playoff games? Does FSNY cover any of them? And no, I can't wait until Tuesday.
Most of them...if they are on NBC then no, if they are on OLN then maybe until the conference finals, then it's OLN/NBC only.
Klee played a great game tonight in case everyone missed it. Great positional play and he won quite a few battles along the boards. He's no longer a liability. Lukowich +4, wow.
Best quote of the thread...
Not to burst your bubble but apparently half the team had the flu on thursday. This will be a different game.
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Correct, it was a different game, this time we smoked both goaltenders instead of just Esche.
JimEIV 04-16-2006, 05:39 PM Lukowich +4, wow.
And 3 Asisst
TaiMaiShu 04-16-2006, 05:49 PM i love seeing devils pictures and headlines on all the major sports internet sites :yo:
David Puddy 04-16-2006, 06:34 PM A funny thing that I wanted to pass along to those unable to see FSN-NJ's coverage is Matt Loughlin's interview with Patrik Elias after the game. Matt asked Pat about Easter in the Czech Republic. I am not a misogynist, but I couldn't believe how funny the answer is.
Patty said, "Kind of the same thing. Eggs are involved. But, ah, what did we do? When you are young, the young boys go out, and, ah, seek the girls, and we have like a little whips (Patrik holds his hand up about two feet apart) that we, ah, go in, we whip them and just say little bit of a poem, and they give you chocolate eggs or boiled eggs that are painted."
Elias then added, "As you are getting older, you still do the same things, but you are getting shots. Once you hit home, you don't even know what's going on."
zarathustra1900 04-16-2006, 07:12 PM Watch History of the World Part One, it's the movie that made that line a classic.
LOL....you guys are alright. I use that line all the time. That line and others from "History of the World ptI" still crack me up.
funny to hear others mention it.
@ David Puddy: that is hilarious and an instant classic. thanks for sharing.
EDIT: PS thanks for the posts, ie. being the eyes and ears to those fellow Devils overseas. GREATLY appreciated.
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 07:46 PM Gotcha, thanks. I didn't hear them mention it at the time on the broadcast.
They didn't mention it. I heard it elsewhere, lol.
crashlanding 04-16-2006, 07:52 PM They didn't mention it. I heard it elsewhere, lol.
They did mention it a few times, can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
Blackjack 04-16-2006, 08:42 PM They mentioned it on the radio...
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 09:02 PM They did mention it a few times, can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
When he went and scooped it up, they didn't mention it, if they did afterwards, I dunno, I diverted my attention to MLB 06: The Show
Devilsfanatic 04-16-2006, 10:10 PM As Esche approached the Flyers' bench, he exchanged words with Donald Brashear, then ripped his mask off, yelling from his seat at the other end.
Flash back to Game 5 of the 2003 playoffs in Ottawa: Roman Cechmanek gives up a goal to make it 3-0, comes off the ice screaming at his teammates, and Esche enters the game. The difference? No one understood a word of what Cechmanek said. With Esche . . .
"He was very ticked off to get pulled, we weren't playing good, and he was trying to fire up the bench," Brashear said. "Obviously, it didn't work too much.
lol
joeskow 04-16-2006, 10:22 PM Happy Easter everyone. Devs are firing on all cylinders. every player is doing their job to a T. I admit I wrote them off in the begining of the season (and early march) but they are a freight train right now. no one wants to play the Devs right now. Great Job
LOU for President.
