devsfan8 04-14-2006, 12:19 PM Who would you all rather have on the playoff roster between Kozlov and Mogilny. Almo had 12 goals in 25 games whil Kozlov equalled that total playing 60 somewhat games. Mogilny is a clutch experienced scorer and has a good shot.
Kozlov is the faster more creative puck handler and more size in fron of the net (which means nothing as he never shoots) To me, Kozlov is a useless roster spot. Mogilny who is slower and more lathargic would be better to have as bench insurance and depth in the Post Season. IMO Waive Kozlov or keep him but make Mogilny the 13th Forward.

has there been a hard answer on the rules regarding Mogilny? is it just whatever you want to do come playoff time (which wouldn't shock me in the slightest), or is there a regulation regarding this situation?

I have to assume there is no Cap restrictions for the playoffs. And as for waivers I cannot see a team being able to claim him. Why would a Columbus ir Florida want to claim Mogilny when there season is over? I could be wrong.
Mike Rupp was called up from Albany for the playoffs but that was before the new Cap era.

theoretically i think there should be a rule in place for this type of situation, since it is effectively cap circumvention in a backhand way (similar to if Primeau suddenly appears in our lineup...). however, given the fact that the CBA was tossed together i wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if there was nothing stated about pulling him up... i'm just kinda curious.
thefiestygoat 04-14-2006, 12:55 PM I'll take Kozlov, Mogilny is done and the team is better off if he stays away.

And Kozlov can be more productive then Mogilny in what way? Sitting on the bench?
benbouch 04-14-2006, 12:57 PM Someone knows if the devils can bring back Mogilny to their roster for the playoff ?? And is it possible ???

Mogilny is really tearing up the AHL with his great hips right now. :)
With Mogilny around, Lou would risk ruining team chemistry and Mogilny does not bring anything to the table right now to help out on the ice anyway. Kozlov may suck, but at least he is not a cancer to the team. If need be he can step in although I doubt we see him the playoffs. All of this talk about Mogilny magically stepping in and doing great is a pipe dream.
Brooklyndevil 04-14-2006, 01:06 PM Almo is finished as a Devil. However, I like Koz as a 4th line replacement for Wiemer. And he can be used on the power-play.

I am not talking about Mogs playing at a fulltime level. But I would rather have his scoring ability over Kozlov.

why should he be on waivers ?

I am saying, if we called him up after the season but before the playoffs I do not think we need to worry about him being claimed at half his salary. I worded it wrong. Sorry.
Feed Me A Stray Cat 04-14-2006, 01:18 PM Kozlov without a doubt.

Is Mogilny healthy enough to play on the 4th line? I would rather keep the Dobermans together. Anyway if they took Janssen out of the line up I think that Wiemer-Rasmussen-Kozlov would be much better than Wiemer-Rasmussen-Mogilny. Anyway this irrelevant as I doubt Kozlov gets much time in the playoffs and I seriously doubt Lou is even thinking about adding Mogilny. Mogilny is done, plain and simple.
Randal Graves 04-14-2006, 01:38 PM If the problem is offence, Mogilny for the PP and half the 4th line shifts. At least Almo shoots the puck.
If the problem is being overmatched physically, Kozlov on a scoring line so he can hold the puck in the offensive zone, which is pretty much his best asset.
So really it depends on the opponent and the particular skill that is needed.
Kashew* 04-14-2006, 01:44 PM Almo AND mcgillis should be called up...except make sure mcgillis does dick around with the puck in his own zone, lose it and get a goal scored on your team...*ahem*

So really it depends on the opponent and the particular skill that is needed. The problem with Kozlov is that he turns with the puck but is unalbe to generate much offense. Watch Patrik Elias when he does a similar thing. He gets up along the bluelines, moves to the high-slot looking for a shot or pass and makes things happen. I would rather see rookie Dobermann Liner Cam Janssen be in there. Cam-Bam, Rasmussen and Weimer make for an important part for the Devils success. The Devils will need those guys to wear-down the opposition in the playoffs. The Dobermann Line had 10 of the Devils 17 hits against Philadelphia.
I don't see even Mogilny being physically able to help the Devils.
4check22 04-14-2006, 02:55 PM Is Mogs even playing down in Albany? I thought he was hurt . . . again.

a player with over 320 pro games hasn't go via re-entry waivers...

True.. even a guy like Marshall can do kozlov's job with more intensity. Im just concerned that the small size of our scoring lines may hurt the team in the playoffs.
