Devils MVP?

Who's been the MVP for the Devils this season?

Patty, everyone else has been good, but his return SPARKED the team, huge, without him, we're not in the playoffs.

Gotta go with Elias. His return did wonders for this team.

I can't decide, usually every year there's a clear winner and his name is Brodeur...this year though you could make an argument for all of them.

I'm stuck between Gionta and Brodeur...While Elias has meant alot to this team. Gionta's consistancy and Brodeurs importance can not be overlooked. I went with the sparkplug Gionta.

I'd vote for Little G. I'm a huge Brodeur fan, but without Gionta's goals here and there, NJ would not be in 6th position.

I think everyone is forgetting about Gomez here, so I'll show him a little love.

His breakout from behind the net/our own zone has really created what seems like 75% of our chances. Considering our breakout otherwise is somewhat inconsistent and weak (defensemen giving the puck up, icing it, missing on passes) Gomez is almost automatic when rushing up the ice.

It is no more important than when we're behind and the other team is playing the trap. While other teams seem to get bogged down in the neutral zone Gomez just flies through it at top speed. Plus 31 goals and second on the team in shots is quite an improvement over prior years.

When Gomez turned it on mid-December he and the Devils haven't looked back.

I can't believe I didn't vote for Brodeur, but I don't know if the Devils could have made the playoffs Gionta didn't have 21G 18A before Elias came back.

40 wins with a questionable defense = Marty B.

Very tough call here...I could find a ton of reasons to vote for any of the four. I went with Gomez, mainly b/c I've been very impressed with his play of late. He's one of the best at breaking thru the trap and gaining the zone, his playmaking ability speaks for itself and now he's got confidence in his shot and has put up 32 goals. Seems like a lot of Elias' recent goals have come on the PP when he's playing with Gomez as well. Still, the others are certainly deserving of team MVP as well.

Man its so tough because all of these players have really carried the team at one point or another but the most consistent player this season has without a doubt been Gionta. Therefore he gets my vote.

Patrik could get an impact player award, but Gionta has been spectacular all season. Gionta has 45 Goals and 36 Assists. That is great.

I would love to give it to Gionta, but Marty as won 40 again. This time without Stevens, Nieds or Dano.

If it there could be a dual mvp this year it would be Gomer and Gio.
But if I have to pick one it would be Malakhov for leaving....kidding. Gio would be the man.

The devils were doubtful to make the playoffs until Elias came back. Thats my vote

Brian Gionta is the most deserving and most consistent Devils MVP this season.

Addition by subtraction, I love it.

But the MVP is Gionta. He's been a consistent scorer all year, giving opposing defenses more to worry about than just Elias (after his returned) and giving Gomez a solid finisher for his playmaking. Brodeur is certainly deserving for his fine play, but you still need goals to win and Gionta has gotten many of those key goals.

Gomez would get the Most Improved Devil, by far. He can score and split the D now! HE CAN SCORE AND SPLIT THE D!!

though i definitely think its Gio, i think the pando/madden combo should at least get some consideration for the job they do night in and night out

You know there's a solid team core when you take forever to decide, but from the poll results, looks like I'm on the giant Gionta bandwagon.

All four have the capacity to steal the last 3 games and whatever seeding that gives us.

Although each has played their part over the season.. most recently, Gomez's play has kept this winning streak alive. But Gionta's been there all year, and his 10 GWG have been huge.

I am not sure I put enough effort into this when I posted 2nd on this thread. Elias presence was the turning point of the TEAMS season. For that he is very value and essential to the team and is likely our next Captain.

But I do agree with you all. 10 GWG and consistency all season along with the strong possibility he will become the Devils single season goals leader I can honestly say that Brian Gionta is the single and individual Most Valueable Player.

I agree 100% percent!

Its tough to choose because Elias sparked the turnaround, Gio's goals were huge and Gomez's breakout ability is one of the key's to our offense. But the only reason I voted Marty is because there were several games on this win streak (Buffalo for example) where we got out of the first period with a lead and I said how did that happen because we got outshot bad and Marty held the fort. Really though all 4 are the keys of this team and I hope lou is going to lock up the other three for a few years this offseason.

ALL season goes to Gionta.

Since he came back, I'd say Elias with Gio a close second.
