Farewell wave to waiver rule
The basics of the rule change are as follows: Any player with 320 pro games in the AHL, ECHL or the NHL or any goalie with 180 pro games can earn any amount at the minor-league level and not be subject to re-entry waivers upon recall.
New rules, put into effect this season after the NHL and NHLPA signed a collective bargaining agreement, called for a player making more than $75,000 US in the minor leagues to clear waivers on the way up to the NHL, and if they were claimed, half their NHL salary was charged against and payable by the team that lost the player.
Mogilny/McGillis NOT subject to re-entry waivers???????
David Puddy 04-08-2006, 03:02 PM Mogilny/McGillis NOT subject to re-entry waivers???????It would seem that they would not be subject to re-entry waivers. I doubt McGillis woud be needed because he struggled in his own zone. I wonder if Lou would recall Mogilny.
NaChOs 04-08-2006, 03:16 PM i think they should recall almo and let him have a few games before the playoffs see how he is.
keep him on the second line with elias
thefiestygoat 04-08-2006, 04:02 PM I don't feel recalling Mogilny would be a smart move. Right now the Devils have 4 lines that are clicking and playing well together, and it appears the chemistry is good. Don't fix what is not broken. Anyway I don't think Mogilny would be effective right now. Hasn't he hardly played in Albany because of his hip?
ratsgirl 04-08-2006, 04:29 PM Hasn't he hardly played in Albany because of his hip?
He hasn't played in about 2 1/2 weeks. I think they said it's a groin injury this time, but who knows.
devsfan8 04-08-2006, 04:46 PM As much as I was passionate on my opinion that we would see Mogilny this post season, I am not sure we need him like we did. I think Elias, Gionta, Gomez will continue to produce at an accelerated level and with the line changes there will be scondary help from Langs, Brylin, Parise and Rafalski.
If Mogilny was to be called up I would love him on the RW of Madden-Pando as a little bit of scoring punch. He can capitalize on their created offense.
Mogilny is slow. He does not have the punch he used to. He shoots the puck less. But he does have a great shot and he is a clutch player.
Parise-Gomez-Gionta
Elias-Brylin-Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Madden-Mogilny
Rasmussen-Wiemer-MArshall
Jannsen (hard to make him a healthy scratch)
I like these for lines for the post season with the option of Kozlov and Jannsen off the bench.
Tao Jones 04-08-2006, 05:14 PM As ratsgirl said he hasn't played in two and a half weeks. Even being the legend he is, I don't know if Mogilny can just step into playoff game shape. If you were Almo would you be rushing back from the IR to help end Albany's losing streak with all the public negativity between the teams' managements? With only 4-5 Rats games remaining, I would have mentally packed my bags, unless told I was being called up to NJ for post-season run.
Chemistry-wise, this should be a last gasp move due to injury/ies. Otherwise, Mogilny=Nieuwendyk the SCF '03 version minus the veteran leadership presence that he might have established last September in camp. He didn't have to wait for a captain to be named or Elias to return, to lead by example, although I could see how that might have been difficult under Robinson '05.

Thanks for the kind words but Buffaloed deserves the credit because he put it on the business board for the posters.

I never plagarized in school ;) and I'm not about to start now
sk84fun_dc 04-10-2006, 07:12 PM As it relates to McGillis and Mogilny, has anyone seen any indication that this goes into effect now, rather than for next season? I made the assumption upon reading the Moose release that the change would go into place after the season ended.
