The Hockey News did an exhaustive players' poll where they asked one player from each team to pick a 'top underdog' of the playoffs and NJ won with eight votes. Edmonton got seven votes and Montreal was a distant third with four votes.

Woohoo! We're number one... among the lower seeded teams... according to eight people. HERE COMES NEW JERSEY!!! :yo:

Here's who voted for NJ, a couple of players are quoted as well:

Anaheim - Jeff Friesen (awww...)
Calgary - Anonymous
Detroit - Chris Osgood
NY Rangers - Anonymous
Philadelphia - R. J. Umberger (not sure why they asked a rookie,
unless no one else would play along.)
St. Louis - Jamal Mayers
Toronto - Anonymous
Washington - Anonymous

I don't know if it's a good sign or a bad sign that both the Rangers and Flyers representatives picked us.

Good news - They don't want to play us.

Bad news - They won't take us lightly.

I'm confused...

Does this make us the favorite underdog?

Why do we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway :amazed:

I mean, seriously, ***, when is that Polish prospect coming over :dunno:

The Devils have certainly been a much better team since New Year's Day. They had that bad spell two weeks ago, but they have still had the second best record in the conference since the calendar year 2005 ended. Here are the Eastern Conference standings for January 1 through this morning,

Makes sense

If the playoffs started today, we are the ONLY team in the Eastern Conference with a goaler that has NHL playoff battle-tested experiance.

Tell me which of these names jump out as renowned playoff performers

Emery
Gerber
Lundquvist
Miller
Nitty
Brodeur
Huet
Grahame

Not to take anything away from the other keepers, but all of them (not grahame) have made their name for themselves this season, Stanley Cup Playoff hockey is a different animal.

We are now either the most overrated underrated team or perhaps the most underrated overrated team, I guess. :D
