If you get the chance, watch the press conference that Lindy Ruff had after that game. Its over on TSN.ca/nhl in the video section.

Use bugmenot.com for a login email address and password for access. Watched it at work earlier during one of my breaks. Ruff was just absolutely disgusted. I didn't catch the play last night that led to this, but it sounded like a bushleague cheapshot on Tucker's part. Reminded me of the ever memorable Brian Burke post-game playoff tirade a few years back when he went off on the Red Wings with all those colorful quotes and expletives regarding how the Sedin's weren't actually Detroit players despite all the red jerseys draped over them.

Disgusting....Tucker should be thrown out of the league after all he's done...
borrachon 04-04-2006, 09:24 PM Tucker must have some comprimising pictures to keep dodging suspensions.
tangible_faith 04-04-2006, 09:36 PM I hate Darcy Tucker more than any player except other LEafs, and want to be biased, but I don't see how it was dirty. I think he IS a dirty player and a diver(that was a dive), but I think he went to hit Hecht. If you look at Hecht, he got out of the way at the last second, but his legs hadn't quite got out of the way. I don't really think it was a dirty hit. I wanted it to be. Trust me, if the league thought it was dirty, they would have suspended him
Brooklyndevil 04-04-2006, 09:45 PM Hardly mentioned on OLN during Ranger/Flyer game. How bad could it have been? :dunno:

It was more the intent than anything. Tucker got steamrolled by Grier, and as soon as he got up, he took a flying run at the nearest Buffalo player, which happened to be Hecht. He clipped Hecht with his knee, and though he didn't catch Hecht in the head with his elbow and forearm, he didn't miss by much. Tucker then got hit by Hecht in retaliation and he flopped around like a fish. For a guy that has as reputation like Tucker, it is amazing he doesn't get suspended more often....
Drewr15 04-05-2006, 02:14 PM I brought my friends 11 and 5 year old sons to the devils leafs game a couple of weeks back. My buddy picked the kids up from my house after the game. The next day he told me on the ride home his 11 year old asked who Darcey Tucker was and my friend said why and his son said - Drew doesn't like him very much. ;)
I've never seen a supposed gritty hockey player dive as much as that piece of garbage does. I can't believe he is not getting at least a game or two for that. Ridiculous!

I got news for you: Tucker's "Bad reputation" is a creation of armchair GMs and knuckle draggers that post messages in mediums similar to this one.

You're right it's all an illusion. Tucker is actually a saint on the ice. :sarcasm:

Tucker is a hard working, nose to the grind stone player. He can chip in offensively, carry his own defensively. He is emotional, but will back up his actions. Every team would love to have 6 Tuckers.
He is not a diver. He takes a beating game in, game out and keeps on ticking.
He is also a loving family man.

Doesn't change the fact that he's had at least two suspension worthy offenses this year (another player got suspended for hitting someone with a helmet but not Darcy) and he's walked away with nothing.
I have to say he isn't a dirty player but he does do some questionable things and the fact that Campbell doesn't do anything to him only adds to his reputation as a guy who can get away with anything.

The Artukhin incident was completely different. The Lightning player grabbed the guys helmet and hit him in the head with it. Tucker was fighting Janssens and was throwing the potatoes so fast and furious the helmet was knocked off and he got tangled in the strap. When he realized what happened he disposed of it and went back to business.
He is an emotional player, similar to Steve Thomas who every now and then lets his frustration/temper get the better of him. It happens to the best of us. You are right: he isn't a dirty player.

Err, is this guy being paid by Tucker as a PR man? Honestly, what the hell? Who cares if he is a loving family man? Many hockey players are. By no means does that have any bearing on how he plays the game.
I guess I can use the emotional excuse when I kill someone? He has now taken out three players knees (off the top of my head: Peca, Chara, Hecht). And if my team had 6 Tucker's, Id find another team. He is a disgusting player.

Not a Diver? This guy is one of the biggest divers in the league. Every game this guy lies on the ice like he is dead, and then plays the next shift. I'll admit it, he is a warrior, but he is the biggest faker in the league. Every game he is injured.
Jared Ramsden 04-05-2006, 06:39 PM This thread has become quite entertaining. Not a diver? Watching him over the years, and in that Buffalo game, it's pretty clear Tucker's reactionary antics are ridiculous.
ratsgirl 04-05-2006, 06:55 PM It's getting more and more shocking that threads to bash Darcy Tucker are allowed to stay open in both this board, and on the Buffalo Sabres board, but the thread opened to defend him was locked by moderators? What a farce this site is completly becoming....
Pure and simple, had Tucker connected with the elbow, I'm sure he would have been suspended.. the league then would have to explain why Tucker's elbow was any more dangerous than the one he TOOK from Alexei kovalev a week ago, which ALSO went unpunished...
The difference between the two? Hecht is about as flimsy as a wet piece of toilet paper, and buckled as soon as he heard "Head's UP!!!"
You can have your wish--this thread is closed as I don't think anything good can possibly come of this.
