Four goals and six assists in four victories.
Andy MacDonald also received consideration with four goals and four assists.
They did right there
What, no Lupul? He had a good reason to be -3 for the week. :D
Fighter 03-28-2006, 04:39 AM Well deserved Teemu!
psycho_dad 03-28-2006, 05:53 AM Yeah well deserved

Finnpin 04-03-2006, 09:43 AM Offensive player for sure but what about his defensive game this year! +/- is +31 in Anaheim at the moment! :handclap:

That is an amazing +/- :handclap:
It's so amazing that it means nothing what so ever. Foote has one of the best defensive game in the NHL, but is at -19.

Nothing what so ever? The man must do something right in the defense too or you won't get +31...
Ducksforcup 04-03-2006, 11:12 AM Plus 31 is an awesome statistic as well.
Go Teemu! :handclap:

So Foote must doing nothing right for the defense because he's at -19. Same logic.
Foote has a low +/- as his TEAM score goals than it lets in.
Selanne has a high +/- as his TEAM scores more goals than it lets in.
A player could score 100 goals for his team, giving him a plus 100 stat; but in his own end he could just stand there and do nothing while the rest of the team works. He would keep is high +/-, but not have a good defensive game.
Another thing is how +/- is worked out. In a recent game, Lupul just came off the bench and the other team scored. He got a minus, but was nothing to do with what was going on. Same can happen if you jump onto the ice and you team scores. You get a plus, but you did nothing.
I'm not saying Teemu is a bad player in his own end, he isn't. Just saying that the stat isn't very useful stat when showing that.

So you think that by attacking you dont compromise your own defence? You know it's not that simple, that +/- doesnt tell everything but it's a good measure, and it would be stupid to say Selänne is not aware of the defensive play. After all he has the best +/- stat of his team.
Todays NHL is more team play than ever before imo, those guys dont just bumb in to ice and get +31.

I've never said the Teemu is bad a his own end, don't know where you got that from.
Look at these two teams: 'Wing and Blues. On the 'Wings, there is only one player who is minus. So by the logic of some people, everyone on the team must be good in there own end. While you look at the Blues, only two players are plus (and some even), making everyone a bad defensive player.
The is not the case, there are players on the 'Wings who arn't that good in there own; and there are Blues players who are good defensively.
The plus minus stat is very dependent on the team as a whole, not the one player. You can't look at it and get anything from it with out knowing what kind of team the player is on. A Blues player with a +/- of 0 is good, where as a 'Wings player with a score of 0 is bad.
You can also get a high +/- by scoring a lot of goals, or by not scoring any and being the best D.man in the league. This you can't tell what the player is from that stat.
A high plus is always good, but it doesn't tell you anything about the player.

You are very right that plus/minus is dependent on the team as a whole. But within the team, players with a very high or low +/- is telling. Selanne has the highest +/- on the Ducks as a team, and that should count for something.

You didnt say that Selänne is bad at defending, but you did clearly undermind his +/- stats, so mayby you know now where i did got that from.
Wings are having a great season, where as Ducks strugelled through year 2005, and last time i checked Selänne plays in Ducks.
Spankatola Jamnuts 04-04-2006, 08:53 PM As of Sunday night Teemu had the highest +/- of any forward in the entire league.

That is the key for this stat right there.
The +/- stat is only for comparing players within a team and has no relevance when you compare players from different teams/eras.
