I may have to revise that! After the way the Giants out worked and out hit Everett in game 1, thie Tips may not make it past 5 games :shakehead

Not to mention Irving looks done for the series...... :help: :help:

Yep, I was at last night's game, and the Tips were lucky to still be in that game after 2 periods. The shots were something like 29-6 through 40 minutes.

Any word on how Fiala is after taking that massive hit from Brule? Sure looked bad. Hope he's OK.

They are saying that Hromas and Fialla both took concussions last night.

I doubt we see Fialla back, Hromas is a question mark.

Thoring was also very shaken up at the end of the game after a hit by Hunt. No word on him but I expect he is back. Looked like ribs or something like that for him.

I thought he grabbed his arm? Either way it's bound to happen at some point with wrecking ball Hunt on the ice. :yo:

Well I only saw it from the back as he skated off as I sit by the Penalty box, looked like ribs but could have just as easily been an arm or shoulder.

It was strange though how he took the hit, stood for a few seconds then collapsed.

Reading the Everett press today it sounds like Hromas and Fialla are both done till game 5 at the earliest.

Yeah I noticed that as well. It was almost a delayed reaction and then he went down.

No complaints from me (regarding Hromas and Fiala). :D

With Irving, Fiala, Hromas out at least until game 5 (if there is one) the Giants can really bury the Tips. They just keep out hitting Everett. They also said Heshka was a question mark for game 2, so they dressed Doyle in case, but scratched him when Heshka said he could go. Thoring may also be a scratch in game 3. All they say of course is "upper body." I have not lost faith yet, but the Tips had better come out flying and giving the hits on Tuesday, instead of taking the hits and afraid to go into the corners... Vancouver will wear them down in a hurry if Everett doesn't get some jump and get ahead.

The one good thing for the Tips is that the schedule will help them.

Having 2 full days off between games 2/3, and a full day off between games 3/4 will give them a little extra time to heal all those bumps and bruises they are getting.

Everett Media is reporting that Hromas practiced Monday is pretty much a go for game 3 tonight in Everett.

Guess he didnt have a concussion after all.

Well tonight the Giants wrapped it up with another 5-0 win. Dustin Slade picks up his 3rd consecutive shutout and 6th of the post season. This series was absolute domination. I thought Everett would give the Giants a real scare but the Giants brushed them aside like they were nothing more than a fly.

They out-hit the Silvertips and pounded them into submission, hard checks and all of them clean. Their defence was suffocating and the penalty kill was amazing! The Silvertips didn't even register one PP goal the entire series and Mueller was held to just one assist.

The Giants are going to be pose a very big threat to whoever wins the Warrios-Tigers series and should be considered a team to be reckoned with if they advance to the Memorial Cup. That said, I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched yet, the Tigers are still the best team in the league until they're gone and Moose Jaw has been playing great in these playoffs.

Whatever the final match-up eventually winds up as, it should be a great series either way. I'm heading down to Ticketmaster as soon as tickets go on sale, going to try and go to at least 3 games.

EDIT - I just wanted to give full props to the Silvertips though. Despite the beating they took a few guys really stood out in this series.

Peter Mueller, amazing. Flawless skating stride, unbelievable vision and an uncanny knack for finding the open man. Everett's best player by a country mile, his draft stock should definitely be on the rise after the playoffs that he had.

Matt Esposito. A young kid who was thrown to the wolves in Game 1 and responded extremely well. Irving went down prior to Game 1 with a groin injury, so here comes this 16 year old rookie who hasn't played in God knows how long and his first start is in the Western Conference Finals. He really held Everett in the first and second game and made some very good saves. He looks like a very good prospect for the future if he can keep this up.

Leland Irving. Tonight he drew into the lineup and I'm sure it was too soon for him to do so. The Giants tested him all night long with low shots forcing him to go into a butterfly to stop them, not the easiest thing to do if you're coming off a groin injury. The final score doesn't do him justice, he stopped Giant skaters cold on at least 4 breakaways. The score could have easilly been 7-0 when all was said and done. Not bad for a guy playing at less than 100%. Someone will land themselves a fine goaltender in this draft.

Well, we've got Moose Jaw and Vancouver in the WHL finals....who's it gonna be? Moose Jaw has been red hot throughout the playoffs, and you gotta know the Crushed Can will be ROCKIN' once the series gets back east.

Vancouver on the other hand has basically walked right over their opponents thus far. They have an amazingly skilled team, a punishing team, and a team that is white hot...lets be honest here...this should be a HELL of a series, and I'm torn. I'd rather see Moose Jaw win, because they've gone through so much struggling the past few years and for them to make it out of the east is wicked awesome...Vancouver though, damn they've got a fine team...top to bottom, and I'd like to see Vancouver in the Memorial Cup as well...

I figure this series goes the distance, with Vancouver pulling it out in OT in game 7

Vancouver in 5.

MJ was outplayed by MH but MH ran in to a hot goalie. No way MJ can endure a best of 7 with the Giants. Giants are built from the net out and have the scoring punch from everyone on the team.

Well let me be the one to take Moose Jaw in 6 this series then...........after a first round scare to the Wheat Kings Moose Jaw hasnt looked back...........have been dominating ever since.........Giants can score but Ill take Moose Jaw's offense to score even more and Slade to finally face some competition....and a few shots.
